I stood there staring at her till it seemed almost as if I couldn't even recognize her anymore. Coward, I thought to myself bitterly. That's all you are and all you ever will be. I trusted you. I put my faith in you. I loved you so much I turned a blind eye to your faults. Yet, your jagged edges and sharp words only tore me down leaving splinters on my soul. My confidence, my pride and my integrity lay shattered around me. An emotion too strong for words wells within me, my world is reeling, my breathing erratic and yet I know that this is not the end. This is not the end. "You think you've won, don't you? You think I'll just sit here wallowing in self-pity? You're wrong. I might be broken now, but I'll grow even stronger and when I do you'll be right here to see it." I turned my back on her knowing that even though the path ahead might be difficult, it would be the one I chose for myself.

"You would leave me behind? After all we have been through together? " Her voice rang my ears."How would you face the world alone? You and I must co-exist. We were meant for each other. What will you do when all this bubble of confidence bursts? You'll confide in your friends? Look how well that turned out already. Your family will support you? Their good intentions can only scratch at the surface of your troubles. When all is said and done, I'm all you have now, isn't it? I'm your determination drudging into despair, I'm your commitment clouding into confusion, I'm your best friend and your worst nightmare. "

My stomach becomes a gnawing pit of turmoil. It seems as if I am bound to her by blood and I cannot escape. The whirlwind of emotions I so carefully caged within me are set free and I'm being taken in by storm.Crunch. A shooting pain ran up my arm that my rage filled mind could only faintly register. I slowly look up at her, the broken glass pieces reflecting my own tear-stricken face. Yet, for the first time I didn't see my cowardly eyes reflected back at me. I saw hope in their depths. You were right,I said to myself in the mirror. I was my own best friend, but I'm also my own worst nightmare. That's the last I ever saw of the her in the mirror again and I'm all the better for it.

Paradoxes are often what make life interesting. They add just the right amount of dilemma to the routine of life as we know it. They give us that little nudge in the direction of questioning ourselves once in a while, arousing a curiosity that may have abandoned us, partly, sometime between when our allotment of shits to be given ran out and when our minds became dulled by monotony.
The infamous time paradox has been greatly discussed in scientific papers and pop culture alike. Time fascinates everybody, irrespective of culture, age, religion, and whatever other barriers we've created among ourselves. Time just flows. It smooths things over, sometimes wrinkles them. It offers retrospect, sometimes ending in sweet nostalgia, sometimes in bitter regret. Time is so invariably a part of our lives, and yet it exists separate from us- on a lofty plane of existence that we can't really understand fully.
Time alters the very face of the earth, moving mountains and carving canyons, but its strongest power, in my belief, is the way it alters the perspective of a human heart.
The human heart itself is a paradox sometimes. It becomes more fragile with trust, and hardens itself when that trust breaks. The time paradox has a way of intensifying this paradox until we stand and look upon our heart in perspective. Do some people really change with time? Or were they always that way when we knew them, only that we didn't have enough time to discover their true nature? Have they "changed" only because time has altered our perspective? Were they way they were because they hadn't had the experiences that moulded them yet? Did time allow them to have those experiences, or was it fate playing a lone hand? Does the amount of time we have a reflection of a person's imprint upon our heart, or is it just a matter of that person changing of their own accord?
The time paradox also intensifies introspection - was our judgement lapse or has time truly changed them? Did time allow them to discover themselves or did time cheat us out of discovering them?
Regardless of who you apply this to, or what situation you face, time follows no logic that we can ever understand. Are you right to think you can't judge too quickly, or are you right to think first impressions successfully evade the web of time? Understanding another human is an art unto itself, and there is no skill that precedes it. Because: does time always tell in the end? Or did time lead you on a wild goose chase?
The fascination we have with time reveals its cruelty too - the way we let ourselves be absorbed into the intricacies of time, only to find that the time we lost will never return.
And even that is a paradox.
"}]

I often wonder how failure shatters us and how much we panic even though we have an inherent quality to overcome the fear. Remember how we learnt walking and cycling? Falling several times while learning how to walk and peddle was common. But the sad part is from our childhood days we are made to believe that winners get the rewards and losers are jeered. Our scriptures and mythological tales also suggest that messengers of God had to fail before the ploys of the demons until truth came to light.

In my opinion failure is not an alternative term for success but is a hurdle that comes on our way to the finishing line(Success). For a theist failure is an ultimate test kept by god to test your will power, you have within you to reach our success.Whereas, for atheist, he sees failure as a temporary setback on a bigger, more significant course.

However, in what way you see the failure doesn't matter really. But what you have learned and how you have rectified your mistakes truely matters. In some occasions failure seems to be an end of road, but with great courage, determination and hardwork we can achieve success like many heroes did. For example, Abraham Lincoln,Steve Jobs,Bill Gates,Milton Hershey, and many more have failed not just once but many times. However , with great passion they succeeded in their respective fields. They are many such more heroes in our neighborhood , in your street , in your family who have used failure as a stepping stone to their success.

The story of King Bruce is a very good example of this saying. He lost a battle and his enemies took his kingdom. The king wanted to fight the enemies and organized a very large army. He fought against his enemies and lost. This happened eight times and the eighth time he lost very heavily and so he was hiding in a cave. He was very dejected and disheartened and then he saw a spider trying to build a web. The spider could not link the web at a particular point and he tried many number of times and finally built it successfully. On looking at this, the king thought, “If a spider can try so many times, I can also do it". He immediately started organizing an empire and finally he won.

Even in Science inventions and discoveries , they do not happen overnight. Thomas Alva Edison was a very great inventor and he tried more than thousand times to make a filament bulb. On knowing this a reporter asked him whether Edison wasted his times in his efforts. Edison said, “No I just found thousand ways in which I could not make the filament bulb."

In this way, there are many more examples to show that failures can not block our path to the amazing world of success. Can't we learn from history's great men and women, who after failing initially, pulled themselves together to defeat failure.

Failure should be our teacher not our undertaker. Once a great man Jayson Demers said"Learn from your mistakes, reflect and accept the failure, but revist your passion and keep pursuing your goals no matter what".

Meet the lady who transformed the face of over 100 villages in the Rajasthan by using water harvesting techniques and building check dams.

A woman named Amala Ruia was now known as ' Water Mother ' has given life to 100 villages in Rajasthan. Her unique methods of traditional water harvesting techniques and building check dams has really changed the fate of many people and this was possible by generating an income of Rs 300 Crore per annum for 2 lakh villages.

Many of us read the news talk about it feel bad if there is any disturbance and look upon for the news on the next day but Amala has seen an article in the newspaper that " Government is supplying tankers to the farmers " questioned herself that can these water tankers satisfy the needs of the farmers? and then found a permanent solution and established " Baker Charitable trust " to translate her thoughts into actions.

She started researching the water troubles of Rajasthan and found that the Rajasthan farmers are amongst the poorest in the country. Using rainwater harvesting technology to improve situation seemed like a good choice to her. ' the biggest task was to involve the local community and engage them in making our model more sustainable ' she says.

Amala started her work by constructing dams, check dams known as 'Khadin'. Khadin dams are really economical and very low in cost which involves only small masonry works and extensive earth bunds. These type of dams only have advantages rather than the disadvantages.

Her first project was in the Mandawar village which turned up to be a huge success and the farmers earned 12 crores within a year with 2 check dams constructed and then they never looked back. The construction of each dam costs 5 lakh and the best thing is 40% of the construction cost was barred by the farmers and it took only 2-3 months for constructions.

“We were sure that the projects would be successful only if the farmers contributed. We involved the farmers at every step, from sharing the cost of construction and even maintenance. This is how they get a sense of ownership,” she says.

All the villagers are extremely happy and are grateful to her as the dry wells, pumps in that areas were filled with water and the women need not walk for several miles to fetch water as they getting clean water at their doorsteps.
"}]
It is always fun to meet different types of people around. I think this doesn't happen everywhere that you go for a competition with preparation and at the end of the day you enjoy yourselves without the burden of that competition.

MOC really changed the the way I look at competitions. The moment I entered the college , I found a galaxy of speakers around me . The feeling inside me was like popping pop corns , with high velocity . But ,as soon as I saw my college gang ,we started enjoying ourselves by cracking jokes, clicking selfies, groupfies and guess what the seriousness for the competition was washed out .

Then , after an hour or so orientation programme began with full enthusiasm. In the orientation , champions were there , speakers were there and of course their speeches were just fantastic. But personally, I enjoyed hearing Charan Sir and he was as usual awesome.
After this session , we went to have our lunch as after that competition was to start.
Now, slowly fear and nervousness started crawling up . And again a magic happened. After going to our respective rooms, toastmasters made us feel comfortable and to my surprise they were really friendly.
Here, I have to talk about the culture in toastmasters. I really loved the way they call us on the stage ( it goes like name-topic topic-name)and the shake hands and the boom! You speak on . I got to hear about many things as the students aired their opinions on a particular topic . And we were made to give feedback or like how we were feeling right there ,that part went interesting . In our room , at the end, a girl gave a dance performance , another sang a song and we went on clapping and clapping . And this was how it ended up . After coming out of the rooms , our college gang again just chilled and shared our experiences . At last , I stepped out of the college with a big smile om my face and a feeling of being jubilant .
"}]

A few days back, my mom was having a "diwan" delivered home. And that afternoon for about 2 hours constantly my mom received calls from the delivery "boy" regarding the address of our house. I was surprised as to why he was taking so much time as he was in the vicinity of my place. Just as I was to leave to help that guy get home, I find an old man at the door step informing that the parcel had been brought.

That's when things took a turn in my head. In the scorching heat of April this man, about 65 years, was on his rickshaw pulling such load for making a menial living! I had no idea of how to help him. And while all of us enjoy the benefits of a capable GPS, why did he not have access to it?

And worse, for all the effort he puts, his task is mundane.. How much would he make for a living!!! Its fantastic that we have evolved so much in terms of technology, and yet we can't penetrate that to the people who are in dire need of it...

Today, my mom was getting rid of the old newspapers stacked for over a month and I was making small talk with the "raddiwala".. who is again an old lady! So, I ask her what she does with all the paper that she buys from us and she explains. My curiosity kicks in and I ask her how does she carry the gunny bag she stuffed all our paper in? She plainly said that she walks till the shop to sell them... Whoa? I ask her why doesn't she take a ride on autorickshaw. She smiles and says that way nothing would be left for her to take back home.

Out of curiosity, I ask her, how much she makes out of this, and here comes the shock. If she buys a kilogram of paper from us at Rs.10, she gets about a rupee per kilogram from the paper mills. I become silent, not knowing what to say.. and she keeps talking of her family that comprises of her widowed daughter with two children and her husband. She says she wouldn't be working if not for the future of her young grand kids. Jeez... could someones life be this helpless? And the best part no where I hear regret nor does she complain of her fate.

While these are a few recent instances, they trigger a lot of emotions. Someone above the age of 60, as per government regulations should retire.

Still, out there are many earning bread and butter for their family. Why is that? They could never save enough. They are human too. They have desires they wish to materialize into reality. Will it ever happen? On the other end is the child labor scenario.. Will a child come out of such hostile situations unbroken. Or will he simply leap his childhood and grow up with onerous tasks. What kind of unhealthy situations are thousands of families facing today?

As I write this, I am not trying to fight for their cases, there is no point in gathering sympathy or empathy virtually. If there needs to be change, it has to happen on ground and real time! There are millions of such lives listed as random numbers on the internet, in government records and books.. But, behind each of those statistics lie lives of so many people who have lost hope. I wonder will they ever have the courage to dream? And hope to wish that dreams come true... It bothers me.. and it does bother a lot more other people!

I believe that this country is indeed on the path to progress but, I think its our responsibility to grow together and not at the cost of others. I have been a part of few initiatives that are concerned with child development. And now I am beginning to think if childhood needs betterment then parentage needs repair. While we try to fix children and give them hope from the outside, even their parent support system needs to be built. This I believe will only happen in collaborative development.

Poverty in monetary conditions is yet another thing. If only everyone could have dignity and the power of choice, the world would be a better place! I hope the day my life comes to end I do something that adds meaning to at least a few peoples life.. Its not my compassion for the poor.. I think its my responsibility as the young generation! And I am sure that we will all together come up with means for inclusive development.... And I only write this to rekindle the flame of good will in all our hearts.. and as reminder of the humongous task that lies ahead us.
"}]
