May 22 is celebrated as the World Biodiversity Day across the world, and on this day, we catch up with an NGO from Vijayawada called Prayoj about their work for the environment and more!

Speaking about the NGO, founder Mani Polavarapu goes on to explain the functioning of their organisation and their projects so far.

"We are primarily an environmental based NGO," says Mani, "but we have different projects as well, where we collect food from functions and parties, excessive food, and donate them to the underprivileged. The program is called Annadata. However, our primary goal is to raise awareness and do our bit to save the environment."

The NGO goes to schools to raise awareness about the importance of saving the environment, often with young students and working professionals as volunteers, "We've been to 9 schools so far, government schools. There has been a little trouble with the permissions to present in the schools as well as our organisation itself having some logistical issues, but we are just finishing our first year," says Mani, referring to the launch of the NGO last year on May 8, "and this year things are looking quite positive, we are ramping up our efforts this year."

The efforts put in by the NGO has been appreciated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu on more than one occasion, as Mani tells us, "He [The CM] also visited us at one of our sites to appreciate us personally. It was a lovely gesture."

"We have 30 active volunteers from the 50 permanent volunteers we have, and whenever we are planning an event or hosting one, we have over 100 volunteers who come together to help. It is truly incredible," says Mani, a working professional himself.

On being asked his motivations for the NGO, he said, "I had previously volunteered with an environmental NGO, before starting my own in Vijayawada. I realised one day that people would be more than happy to install an AC and pay heavy electricity bills than plant a tree and nurture it, and that didn't seem right. So, our goal is to raise awareness about global warming and the importance of keeping our surroundings safe by planting trees, so that we can leave the world for our children in the future."

The NGO has another event coming up on World Environment Day, where they plan on giving shops in Vijayawada's busiest areas a tree to take care of, a plan which Mani is quite excited for.

Theater is a field that has largely been restricted to esoteric circles among college students, despite the fact that numerous theater groups have recently sprung up in Hyderabad and the arts scene is booming. It is still considered something that ordinary people don't do. A few students who have joined local theater groups in spite of the odds stacked against them have talked about why they decided to go into theater, what it means to them and why they think it is something everyone needs to do.

Tarusha from GNITS says that she nursed a passion for theater since she was a child. She thinks that people lose sight of themselves, their core as they move through life and theater helps them reconnect with that. "Theater has 'unlayered' me and helped me rediscover myself", she says, "It also helps you better understand human psychology and makes you more sensitive to others." Theater helps many people like Tarusha open up and rediscover themselves. She tells me a story of what theater did for her to illustrate what it can do.

"A year ago I was going through a rough patch and had really lost myself. I didn't recognise the person looking back at me in the mirror. That's when I signed up with this theater group and did a few exercises, one of them in which we had to hold up a mirror in front of our faces and make whatever expression the instructor called out. My face was blank on each one. That's when it hit me- 'I'm dead, I'm actually dead!' So I decided to do more in theater and got back to myself more and more each day.

Now when I compare myself to that person I was a year ago, I realise... I'm alive!"

Justin from Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College has harboured dreams of theater since he was 12. "It has helped me with some pronunciation problems I had and changed so many things about me! My body language changed, I became more open and open-minded, my entire character has changed," he says. Surprisingly, Just derives the most satisfaction not from the appreciation or applause, but from the environment and just being around people who have the passion. It's no walk in the park though, since according to Justin, barely any of the gritty, hard work that goes on backstage is seen.

There are a lot of workshops in the city that help beginners find their groove and ease them into acting. Theater will help you find yourself and understand who you are.
"}]
Talking about the city immediately invokes some common images associated with it; Old City, Charminar, the Hussain Sagar, biryani, Birla Mandir and other popular tourist spots. You can visit these places to try to find the heart of Hyderabad, but they're only a little part of it. Hyderabad was ruled by the Nizams starting from under the Mughals, and continued under the British and so, the culture in the city reflects this in its architecture, art and food.

Take a casual walk through the streets of old city and you will have seen at least a couple pieces of Mughal architecture in the space of fifteen minutes. The narrow, winding street full of hawkers peddling dazzling items, the delicious masala lemon juice sold by the road and the quaint, old houses all come together to leave that indelible Hyderabadi stamp on your experience.

The Charminar, arguably the most famous landmark of Hyderabad, which also happens to be part of the old city is an iconic structure that people from all over the country come to visit. The lanes leading up to it bustle with people, shops and vehicles, all in pursuit of either one of two goal: to visit the Charminar or to go shopping.

Hyderabad wouldn't be itself without one of it's central tourist attractions, the Hussain Sagar. One might argue that the lake with the famous Tank Bund road around the Hussain Sagar that houses most of the entertainment centers of Hyderabad including Lumbini Park, Prasad's IMAX, Snow World, Sanjeeviah Park and Jalavihar, among others, would be the heart of Hyderabad. Especially since the Hussain Sagar itself is literally shaped like a heart. The iconic 18 meter statue in the middle of the lake is occasionally lit up, making for a truly moving sight.

There are many other places like the Birla temple, the Birla Science Museum and Salar Jung Museum that share the same quaint charm that the city is known for. It's just something in the air of this busy city, which still seems to hold faint notes of stories from times long ago, times when kings ruled and erected huge monuments. The people living in the city now are aware of that and are trying to preserve that unique culture. And that, I think, is where the heart of the city is.
"}]
Walking all through the trails of trouble and the roads of remorse.

Under the sky that has become grey and welcoming the sooty dark.

Where all the hopes have yielded and the picture is shattered into pieces.

Hopes to achieve that one relieving sigh; the picture of one complete me.

Amid the air that has forfeited its warmth and has turned blue.

And then they say that it takes two to make a quarrel.

Might not be wrong for a whole, 'cause it's me who's fueled the fire,

That will go on to burn down even the slightest of the mark that I've had made.

Made in the world that no longer wants to even acknowledge my presence.

The indomitable forces of the unbending universe breaking the stubborn psych.

It's only when the darkness in the world prevails and the light has forgotten its way,

That you discover the sun of your soul, shining bright to lighten the course of your life,

And sustaining all your deepest agonies that have crumbled you from within.

Trying to break you from every single inch of my self in every way possible.

But the brave is the one who resists to call it quit, 'cause he who hesitates is lost.

In the end, the storm that took the toll between the outright extremeties, fades.

And as the storm goes by, cometh the calm to reign for good.

Notwithstanding, quoting the wise men's saying, every cloud has a silver lining.

Maybe the world I've created isn't really the world I was made for.

And the boxes are to be abandoned for discovering the new dawn.
"}]
A student's college life is obsolete without learning to perceive things. The College years are the best of your life. Anyways there are some people who say school life is the best. In school life there's less maturity, you tend to have fun and you'll have less differences with friends. But in college life you'll have both mental and emotional maturity, you know how to treat people. Things like logic and emotion come into picture.

Following are some aspects that make a perfect college life possible.

Culture - In colleges like CBIT, BITS, Gokaraju you get to see the best culture. That best culture is 'diversity'. Very rarely you get to see children with extreme family backgrounds sit on the same bench. Children of Ministers and Children of Farmers listen to classes, share food sitting on the very same bench. I think its the ecosystem that matters. Institute with good ecosystem provides much better opportunities to students like exposure, placements, academics and industry orientation. Students are given opportunity in college to pursue their interests like sports, club activities, cultural activities which helps building up a student.

'Friends' - The best thing that can happen to you in college. When you're down, your friend is like a family to lift you up. When you've to complete an assignment or if you have an exam coming up, you can always call your 3am friend asking for help. You share with them your happiest moments and your darkest secrets. In colleges Boys follow BRO code and Girls spread GIRL Love. Friend is a person with whom you can be silly with. Remember Penny telling Sheldon "Shelly! You big Weirdo. I want you to know that I love that you're in my life". Amidst all your madness and weird stuff you do, friends love you for what you are and they make believe that weirdos and OOTB people are the ones who dream big and can change the world. In college you have these mature friends. When you have no idea where your life is going, a good friend helps you introspect and tell you what is right for you like a Godfather. Friends can - and are meant to help us change and push us to grow. Seniors - people say 'Learn from your mistakes'. I say why learn from your mistakes when you can learn from your senior's mistakes. That way you save the time taken by futile efforts. Seniors guide you, teach you and inspire you and tell you where they went wrong. They teach you many things overtime.

Love - Pain of losing someone alive is more than pain of losing someone to death. That too losing someone whom you get to see daily is hell. It's always changing whom we're supposed to love and whom we aren't. The only thing that stays the same is we want who we want(Cersie Lannister). You deserve someone who's gonna treat you like you matter everyday. Not just when it's convenient for them. Don't ruin your college life by having a relationship in college. Although there are some exceptional cases where the couples are pretty serious about their relationship but what if you end up breaking up after college and you didn't get to tap any campus stranger? you're gonna be f***ing pissed. College is a place where you don't whine about one person, instead you sample all of the delights around you and play the field. If you know what I mean :p

Placements - Placement cell plays an important role in shaping up students and in running the good race for college. In college like CBIT, Placement cell is the prestigious club, led by its Placement Officer Dr.NLN Reddy. He is very acquainted with industry. He knows what industry wants. He trains the students right from the pre final year for internships, aptitude, attitude development and stuff. With its Placement Software TNPSuite to its high end computer labs and conference halls CBIT Placement Office maintains its standards. Every year around 40 Student Placement Coordinators are being recruited by Placement Office to build the bridge between Companies and students and students are bagging around 1100 Job offers for various job profiles like Developer, Data Analyst, System architect, Management and more.

Extra curricula's - Extra curricula's can be very important in helping students to develop many working skills, people skills, and more. Once you enter college after a long and stressful FreeChaitanya and Parayana's +2 Education, you want to do all the extra-curricula's. Of course, while a few activities is a great idea, there is a point where you need to draw a line. Cross the line - BOOM! Low Grades and Low attendance. Well! Extra-curricular activities are important to keep a student Physically and mentally active. But some students rather choose to go out on unplanned Trips, they like Chilling out, sleeping and eating than being active in extra curricula's and they want to be as 'BAZABTA' as possible.

College life is all about knowing the extremes, having a good time and serving the purpose for which we joined college. Nothing in this world is permanent. The only thing that matters is you. As you grow high in life and go to places, all you have to learn is how to keep your soul calm and your heart happy.
"}]
After a hectic schedule comprising of fests, paper presentations, lab internals, externals and semester exams I finally have some time at my disposal now. Here are some of the things that I plan to do:

1. I am going to start my preparation for my TOEFL exams by joining coaching classes from Monday, i.e, 22-05-17.

2. I also plan to start some ground work for my research paper. I am presently waiting for an acknowledgement call from my professor after which I have to carry out some research work.

3. I also am going to begin an online course on wireless communication from Coursera which will improve my profile needed for my MS application.

4. I also have to brush up on my technical knowledge which would be essential for my placements which would probably begin in the month of August.

5. I have also volunteered for Make a Difference which is an N.G.O focusing on imparting education to the under-privileged sections of the society. I am presently waiting for an interview call right now.

6. Last but not the least, I want to hone my writing skills by being a part of the Stumagz internship program. I know that this will help me improve immensely.

Between all these tasks,I also am going to enjoy myself by reading more and more novels. I am presently reading the "Dark Prophecy", by Rick Riordan. Let's see what else lies in store....
