College has so much to offer. One of the best things about college is having the freedom to make your own decisions, a trait that is beneficial for any student stepping into a world of duality. While independence comes with great responsibility and imperative insight, it gives you the opportunity to explore your interests, create a standpoint and learn valuable lessons along the way. Your personal life is as important as your professional life, so make the most out of the four years that eventually spawn the individual you become in your near future.

Many colleges urge students to involve in extra-curricular activities such as sports, clubs and events. A few common sports include basketball, softball, cricket, and football. If you aren’t interested in sports, colleges also offer various kinds of clubs such as classical music club, cooking club, art club, and many more. There are a broad range of activities you can engage yourself in to find your genuine interest. In addition, it is a great way to meet like-minded people. The social contacts you create while being in these organizations usually last for prolonged periods of your adult life.
In high school, we are restricted to follow a schedule which typically consists of back-breaking classes that force us to shove our face into our textbooks, literally. But college gives you the time to explore options. It is a time for you to go out, have fun and discover your self-worth or who you are as an individual. Learning about your passions and who you are will make the challenges that life tends to throw at the best among us worth the ride. At the end, it’s all about how prepared you are to handle the real world once you step out of those college gates.

"}]

Aayush Sharma has been a gamer for as long as he can remember, and continues to be fond of the hobby to this day. This student from the University of Texas, Arlington, along with his partners Ayush and Pulkit, run a game studio by the name of Vox Pop Games, and are hard at work developing video games.

We reached out to Aayush via email and he was kind enough to reply to the many enquirers we had. "The team consists of 3 people Me(Aayush), Ayush and Pulkit
I'm in charge of Gameplay/Animation (Stuff like combat, AI response and stuff).
My friend Ayush Bansal is incharge of Story and gameplay elements (Level design, Narration and stuff).
Last but not the least Pulkit - Newest addition to our team he is our primary designer who provides us with graphical assets and also help us out with story.I met him in comic con Delhi."

Aayush Sharma handles the gameplay and animation, on being asked about the challenges faced during making of the game, he says, "It has been nerve wracking, the most challenging part of this is designing the AI," referring to the the path and logic the in game enemies follow while playing, "I've been a major part of the reason why it's been delayed so much, because I'm also coming up with many gameplay features."

He is grateful to his team, credits his fellow teammates Ayush and Pulkit for their amazing work, "Logic programming may be tough, but coming up with a story that everyone likes is even tougher," he says, referring to Ayush Bansal, who's role is level design and narration, "and Pulkit is just amazing, if things go right, we might move from a 2D RPG to even a 3D game!"

About the game being developed, Aayush is understandably tight lipped, "All I can tell you for now is that, it's a 2D RPG with elements of butterfly effect where your choices will carry weight, and of course there are different classes to play."

"I've grown up playing video games, and when I do, I put myself in the shoes of the main character, understand their motivations, what drove them. Games like Life is Strange, Dragon Age, Max Payne and The Witcher are what drove me to design my own," he says, on his inspirations and what gaming means to him, "Luckily my parents never objected to this, there was even a time when we skipped exams to go play League of Legends in Goa!"

Game Development is an industry gaining steam in India, and it can only go up from here. We asked Aayush on what would he like to tell students who want to get into Game Development, "When it comes to Game Development, you never know until you've tried making one yourself. I thought I would finish my computer science degree and get into Game Development but that day never arrived until we spotted a game development competition on Facebook, and the rest is history."

Video Games are becoming mediums to tell fantastic stories and shows no signs of slowing down in the near future. We wish Aayush Sharma all the best with Vox Pop Games in the future.
"}]
You must have seen her videos online, you must have heard her voice on TV, Saika Beerval's melodious voice is not something one forgets easily.

This 2nd year Bachelor of Science student from Osmania University College for Women is setting social media on fire with her singing, a platform she once believed was the only way of expressing herself since she wanted to sing.

She credits her teachers, Dr. K Ramachary Komanduri and Dr. Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam, who teach light music and carnatic music respectively, as her biggest inspirations and influence.

From the first song she sang on social media to her current and future plans, we chat with Saika Beerval in the video below.

It is true that when human beings face problems, they come together despite their differences. As the phrase goes, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, if two parties have a common enemy, they can work with each other to resolve their problems.

And I think religion does three things very effectively:

It divides people.

It controls people.

It deludes people.

Ask a religious person if they accept being in a relationship that leads to marriage with another person who is not of the same religion. The answer will be no. Then yes, religion separates people. However, I don't think the problem is with religion /itself as it is not a person or a physical being that can take decisions be in control etc... Rather the problem is with human’s greed and love for power in addition to insecurities that lead them to be extremists and not willing to accept others.

Religion is nothing but a way of life. It helps people to be kind to each other and focus on being good. That's the whole and soul of any religion. But unfortunately now it has become a tool by means of which hatred is widespread. Religion being a sensitive topic, attracts everyone when called upon for its need. This particular attribute of the aspect has attracted cruel minded people to misuse it. For the record, the biggest cause of death in this planet is due to religious wars till date.

A person who follows any religion would not be a cause for any discrimination or would allow any divisions among fellow human beings. A person who has a sound mind and soul would never do that. But in today's world we know that kind of person is very rare. We should nurture our next generation to look beyond the differences for the greater good, that's the only thing left to us right now.

It is true that when human beings face problems, they come together despite their differences. As the phrase goes, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, if two parties have a common enemy, they can work with each other to resolve their problems.

In October 2013, Cyclone Phailin hit Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and caused immense damage. When such a calamity befell India, people of India came forward to help their fellow citizens.

Funds started pouring in from all parts of India and many organisations such as the ISKCON Food Relief Foundation and Google came forward to offer their help – the ISKCON Food Relief Foundation distributed food to the victims and Google set up a Crisis Response team to assist the Indian government in its rescue and rehabilitation missions.

It is sad to note that only when problems arise do people show care and concern to their fellow citizens; under normal circumstances, one only witness’s apathy. In this day and age, some people are so money-minded that “unity” does not exist in their dictionaries.

In fact, they believe in the saying “every man for himself”. In view of the increasing population, India’s list of environmental problems seems to be growing with each passing day; yet, people seem to be nonchalant of the impact of their activities on the environment.

In Indian cities, we witness the indiscriminate disposal of waste on land and in water. People are not willing to work together to solve this problem and they push the blame on the government.

So, it is evident from the aforementioned points that it is not in all circumstances that people stand united. Only when people feel the impact of some problem do they come together to solve it, in the case of Cyclone Phailin. The destruction caused by Cyclone Phailin was evident, which is why people stood united.

Be Safe
"}]
Some friendships are peaceful, some are pure, some are too crazy too handle while others are just not meant to be. We come across many people at every point in our lives and gradually some of them become family to us. Today, in a world full of competition and rivalry, people have become busy in making contacts or say acquaintances rather than building a true relationship like friendship. Making friends is easy but making true ones are difficult.

Friendship has no particular definition rather it is full of different colors. Number of years does not define true friendship rather understanding does whether built in no time or built over a number of years. There are very few people who are ready to take your baggage on their shoulders and only family can do this with a huge smile on their faces.

Friends become family when they understand you more than you know yourself. Friends become family when they can catch that something is bothering you even before you tell them. Friends become family when you can feel their presence even if they are far away from you. Friends become family when you can share everything and anything with them.

Friends are that kind of family with whom you can fight and they will still understand you, the kind of family in front of whom you can rant and ramble about anything and everything and they won’t judge you, that family with whom you can not only carry out long gossip sessions but have long hours of deep conversations, have breakfast with and do craziest of things together.

When friends become family, life seems so sorted and more beautiful than ever because you know that whatever may come, bad or good this family of yours will never leave your side.
Well, if you have even one such person in your life, then consider yourself lucky because trust me, they are nothing less than a treasure and there are many people out there who crave for such family like friends in their life.

"}]
Of all the breeze that just passed by me,

Of all the wind that touched my knees.

I remember the days of the olden scrapes,

Of all the exuberant but dull etches.

A window and the express called for me,

The frame carried all the folks close to me.

Every town and every city it reckoned,

Searched for mine but nowhere round.

I opened the window to search the folks,

Wandered through the streets and all the roads.

To find them I crossed over all the bounds,

But nowhere to find they were nowhere round.

The fellas round escorted me to the target

They cheered with me but defied in the grey.

We had our sails set in a flock, all in all for the call,

I always abetted and stood as a rock.

With the handful memories I clutched my mug,

The coffee strong with the German bread.

With passengers round I walked upon my call,

They blissed they cheered but passed the looks in weird.

I called for them in the moaning songs,

My voice cracked and lashed at the shores.

My sail was bound to the coast far-flung,

All throughout, my folks were not around.
"}]
From Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the journey has been one of a kind. We all potterheads had a great time during the whole journey which was full of magical spells, irresistible characters, essence of true love and friendship and rivalry. Undoubtedly, JK Rowling wrote a wonderful fiction and the movies produced were even more fabulous. Whenever you hear someone referring to Harry Potter you take, not more than nanoseconds to become a part of it and arguing with you is such a waste, because Harry Potter fan and no one can beat you!

At least we potter fanatics can’t get enough of the series and are hard core addicts. Following are some of the mutual feelings and things all potterheads share and experience!!

1. Whenever you check your mail, you finally think that maybe today will finally be day and you start getting visuals of admission letter from Hogwarts!
Oh my! Already into my magical world!

2. After watching the series or while watching them you must have lost interest in sports if that’s not Quidditch, at some point of time in your life and your reaction to the sport is like what? No brooms? No house uniform? The ball ain’t a Quaffle? No point playing the sport. No interest in any other sport. You just wish this beloved game to become an Olympic sport. Because why not?

3. Whenever you feel lazy as hell or you are told to do some work, you start wishing that you had the wand and everything could have been so easy.
Just one spell and things in life are sorted!!

4. If you are a true potter fanatic, then you must have collected harry potter merchandises and beating you in the harry potter quiz is next impossible.

5. At times you wish that you could send howling letters to the people who are a constant pain in your ass but soon you realise that you are a muggle.

6. Whatever the occasion be, all you need is a warming Butterbeer and you are sorted.

7. Now you don’t mind getting socks on Christmas anymore, because the person gifting you wants you to be a free soul forever just like Dobby gave to Harry Potter. But, you soon realise that he is dead and you can’t stop the tears rolling from your eyes.

8. You certainly know everything about each character of the series and you constantly want to find something new about the same. Also, you follow the entire cast because you simply love them and to keep yourself updated because duh…… you are a genuine fan!

9. Shouting ‘Alohomora’ confidently with a stick whenever you are locked out and making random hissing noises at snakes in the hope of them answering at you back.

10. Emergence of that nostalgic feeling whenever you re-read or re-watch Harry Potter movies is just priceless and knowing deep down that there will never be next harry potter sequel again!

"}]
Invariably in all the college fests, Paper Presentation is a must. It deals with how effectively you present a topic before your audience. 7. Make it Interactive:

Make the presentation as interactive as possible. Ask for feedback from the audience, it is the best way to improve yourself. Questions are an excellent indicator that people are engaged by your subject matter and presentation skills. But if you save questions until the end of the presentation, you will get through your material uninterrupted. So choose it to do it in the end, but do not miss out on it.

According to a study by a Delhi based employment solutions company, less than 20% of students graduating from engineering colleges are employable for jobs while only 7.49% are competent enough to be employed for core engineering jobs. According to the HRD ministry, India has 6,214 engineering and technology institutions which are enrolling 2.9 million students; with 1.5 million engineers getting into the job market every year.

Regardless of the area of study, it is owing to the lack of three crucial skills that students are unemployable and surprisingly, these three skills can't be taught and can only be acquired and developed by students themselves. Writing, speaking and leadership skills.

It's just these three skills that can set you apart from your peers, put you ahead of everyone else in any recruitment process. Having made my career only based on these skill sets, I can say this with conviction. Colleges spend a lot of money on hiring recruitment trainers to train the students on these very skills but these skills have to be acquired and are very difficult to teach; besides, not many realise that four years of college itself provides ample opportunities for students to pick up these skills.

For instance, a college fest gives many opportunities to pick up speaking and leadership skills. Right from the first year, if a student involves himself/herself on the organising committee of various events at the college fest, crucial leadership skills, problem solving skills and people management skills can be learnt. So instead of someone coming over and teaching a student on how to develop these skills, a student can learn by actually doing it. I picked up my skills in a similar way, though I did it outside of college when I was in a co-founding capacity at an online magazine; nevertheless, it is what I learnt when I was 19 that is helping me now. Leadership skills are crucial at any juncture in life and recruiters usually look for candidates who are potential leaders.

To learn the art of speaking and writing, the first thing that needs to be done is to be adept and fluent in a language. In the Indian scenario, it is English that is absolutely necessary in this context and the best way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in it. Read, speak, watch, listen to that language. Once you have a command over the language, learning how to express is what one needs to do.

To learn how to write, the easiest way is to read extensively and observe how people write. Newspapers are the easiest and cheapest way to acquire this skill and later, practice writing on different topics by making optimal use of platforms like this one. That way, throughout your college years, you can pick up these crucial skills.

Speaking is also an art as speaking is what will eventually get you a job. In short, when you talk in an interview, you are selling yourself to the company and to be able to do that, you have to be able to speak and articulate in the best way. And this, can't be taught by anyone and it is up to the students to acquire this skill too and the shortcut to being a good speaker is to speak as much as possible in public platforms. College fests are again the best platforms for this.

So make the most of the time spent in college and take advantage of the access you have to your peer group and learn these skills to tackle the real world!
"}]
