The ongoing lockdown has changed our daily lives in so many ways that it is actually important for us to figure out how to manage our daily life properly. While there are so many articles out there on time management which give out similar advice all over because these are effective and work over and over again, this one talks about it in our lockdown context. The temptation to binge-watch series online is high but it is important not to lose track of what we actually want to do as colleges will open, sooner or later and you will have to take the exams and get internships, get on with your lives the way you had planned it out.

txt
rich_1587461026993

Here's for the people who want to be happy. Cheers guys, you are one step ahead of others who still think what gives them happiness. I was one hell of a person who never knew how to be happy. For Kalyan Vasanth, a 29-year-old vocalist and veena player from Hyderabad, music was something that got into his life the way a person's mother-tongue gets into their life, as he was born into a family of musicians and music lovers. His musical journey started at a tender age of five, when most people would just be forming coherent sentences. About his beginning, the singer who lent his voice for a song in the movie Ek Niranjan says, "There was a musical environment at home as my mom is a veena player and grandparents are musicians. My mother used to cook or do something around the house and keep telling me about a ragam in a particular song or talk about notes in a song that was being played on the tape-recorder or some such. I learnt the theoretical aspects of music before I picked music up."

Later, he started training under his mother and because he was already familiar with the theoretical aspects of music, he directly learnt a few keerthanas first before his mother decided he should learn in the proper format. This continued for the next few years till 1998, when he took part in his first reality show - Paadutha Theeyaga. "As an 8-year-old, it was an enriching experience for me and I got into semi-finals in that competition that year. Later, I also took part in SPB's Paadalannunnadi."

After these, he started training formally because he wanted to get certifications in Veena and vocals. Having earned his diplomas in both, he then took part in various Carnatic events by Kalasagaram, SICA and more, securing a podium finish in most of the competitions. It was after this that he started concerts. In his concerts, the winner of All India Radio competitions, explains, "There's an aspect of carnatic concerts - Manodharmam, which includes spontaneous improvisation. Because I was a kid when I started concerts, my mother used to write the notes and tell me to follow that during the Manodharmam segment of my concert because she didn't want to risk it. But I saw it as a budding swimmer taking off the tube and swimming for the first time and I used to try improvising. I slowly started improvising by myself and I got good at it."

The skill that he developed then, is what has made him a popular person on YouTube, as his videos online feature him doing carnatic covers of popular songs. His version of the popular song Inkem Inkem Kavale has over 3 lakh views. "I wanted to do something unique using my skill. Many of the film songs that we see have a carnatic base to them, as they are set to a particular ragam. So I added elements of the ragam that this song is based on and I did the video. Later, a music company took it up and published it on their channel, as they loved the version of this," says the versatile musician, who also worked as an Assistant Director with Rajamouli for Bahubali.

His videos grabbed the attention of pub-owners, who requested him to perform at their venues and that is when his journey with his band, the Saregama Project, started. "People who are not musicians, don't know the technical aspects of music, as I said earlier that every song is based on some ragam or the other. So I started performing to film songs with carnatic elements of those songs. The instrumental carnatic elements which are usually done on the Mridangam, Ghatam and Violin were being done here on the Keyboard, Guitar and rock drums and this gives a unique sound, which is usually called fusion music and people loved it whenever I performed fusion music at these pubs," says the singer, who is currently working on his own compositions that he plans to release in the near future.

txt
rich_1587116870118

She was declared as the TOP CONTENT WRITER OF 2019 by Stumagz. And not to waste her time quarantine time she has participated in the STUMAGZ QUARANTINE CONTEST and she has been declared as the winner. At times I feel words are too short to describe her writings.

Hence, in a nutshell, all I can say, is that writing is an innate talent that only a few people possess. Although, the art of being able to express herself has been nourished with time.

P.S I highly doubt if this will ever make it to the featured section on stumagz, but this getting approved will do too.

txt

This is for you Kruthika and I want to write for you for all the days when you feel like the world is against you and you don't feel good enough. Read my words to know how loved you really are, and to know how beautiful your heart truly is.

txt

I've already faced a phase of life where you told me to not attach myself to you since you can't guarantee me your stay, but God do you know how much I'm thankful for the countless number of happy infinites you gave me in our 4years of friendship at Stanley, and how I wish that you are one of those who will stay.

txt

I hope you believe when I say that everyone in this world has their own miracles that Allah blesses them with, and to me you are one of them. (I till now wonder what you found in me to even love me for who I am and help me so much.) But to me, you are like those final steps I take to turn around into my lane to have my eyes fall onto a home, my home, warmly lit and welcoming in every aspect. You gave me reason to come to college on so many days.

txt

I genuinely pray to God that you learn to say no without giving an explanation (even tho some people will hate you for it), I hope you have what you need and hope you feel peace, I hope your heart is content and your feet are weary from travelling to beautiful places and meeting beautiful humans and I hope your kindness spreads like wildfires in a forest and burn bright in everyone you touch around you. And I hope God walks with you through your journey and clasps your hands so tightly that you have no chance to falter in your steps and I genuinely hope that you're guided to the truth always in all ways.and I hope I can pick you up with the help of God.

txt

You are an amazing singer, be gentle on yourself and you'll see it for yourself that I'm right and days from now, somewhere far off, you'll be standing on a stage with a mic in your hands and millions cheering you from the crowd, I'll hear you laugh and I'll smile.

txt

I beg you to stay connected with the light, He's watching over you and your family and trust me when I say that He never fails people like you, ever. Maybe the prayer that you're asking for with every last ounce of your energy in your body is being delayed because He loves you talking to Him and is testing one of His best slaves. Remember that He created you and will provide for you and will give you sadness for your eyes to realise the existence of happiness.

txt

God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers. Continue caring for people like you do always, I swear humanity and kindness are like a forgotten art among humans that I've found timeless in your flames.

txt

And lastly remember that tomorrow is gonna be better, much better. You just have to make it through today and I know you can do that!

txt
