Of course, all of these folks are woefully ignorant, but apart from telling them gently, there is hardly anything we can do to change the minds of those entrenched in beliefs not their own. <\/p>India has a rich history, and our mythologies are amazing. While the story of Ramayan is pretty much set in stone, what happens when an author, along with an excellent artist, come up with a plan to write a story based on it, except in the far future? <\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1491210324892","data":"58e210ba5fdb8"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1491210366757","data":"Ramayan 3392 AD Volume 1, which is what we're reviewing today, has been written by Shamik Dasgupta and drawn by artist Abhishek Singh and later Jeevan Kang. Set in a dystopian future, with familiar characters we've all heard of since childhood reimagined and come back to life in the pages of the book, the premise of the story is bleak, a world filled with death and decay except for the Kingdom in Ayodhya.<\/p>Here's the funny thing about this book, you know how Ramayana plays out, you've all heard the stories on your grandparent's knees, and yet, despite that, every page of the book is enthralling. You want to know what happens next and where the story goes, not to mention how well written the characters are. Lord Ram and his brothers share a rare camaraderie no other form of media shows, especially Ram's relationship with Lakshman during a siege they become a part of. <\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1491210928985","data":"58e213230cc09"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1491210987707","data":"The art in the book must be seen to be believed. It is incredible, well detailed and brings out the raw physicality of the warriors that were the brothers of Ram. Lord Ram himself is a force to be reckoned with, with both Singh and later Kang drawing his emotions perfectly. The cover of Volume 1 was designed by noted comic book writer and artist Alex Ross, who has worked on some of the best Superman comics ever made. <\/p>The stark contrast between Ayodhya and the rest of the world is drawn with attention to the minutest of detail. From city designs, to weapons, chariots, danavs and asuras, and most important of all, I cannot stress on the detailing and design of Lord Ravan in this series, that is something you must check out. <\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1491211231784","data":"58e214349b2de"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1491211254361","data":"Ramayan 3392 A.D. is a must read for anyone who has ever touched a book to read.
