Drug addiction can happen to anyone, it leaves no one behind.

This demon catches one at its weakest it takes hold of its prey when they are blindsided and grips them by digging its claw deep into their skin. But nothing lasts forever these demons can be chained when saints are found and these saints are the counselors, the rehab centers, that have their wings opened to take refuge in and they chain these demons.

The youngsters are the easiest target who are trapped in this web because their mind is like clay that molds up easily, but in the wrong hands, it molds into an unfamiliar model. There are countless reasons why one step into this environment because of the unfortunate family backgrounds that they are brought up in, some seek escape and others to look cool and to try and fit in with their peers.

The adolescent age is complicated it's very easy to say NO to the right people and YES to the wrong and learning to discern when to say NO and to whom to say is challenging.

The victim of drug abuse may be one but the effect moves in a chain it affects the individual, their family, the society and ultimately the nation as a whole. The person who is addicted is already aware of the ill-effects but they do not fathom the negatives that it gives and they are willing to sacrifice lasting health for a momentary pleasure.

The effects of drugs in youngsters:

- it causes them to make wrong decisions

-it tampers with their cognitive development

- concentration level decreases

-negative impact on academics

-lack of health

-brings distance in relations

-mood swing

But it's not the end, today there are so many resources that are available to help anyone battling with drug abuse, it's going to be fine with the right help and one can get back on the right track in no time.
"}]

Drug abuse is a major public health problem not only in the United States but also worldwide. Drugs are nothing but Alcohol, Tobacco, Cocaine from coca. Many mental health problems such as depression, bipolar disorder, mood, and anxiety disorders are also associated with drug abuse. We can see there are a lot of people who feel lonely and fear to express or control their emotions that kind of people are addicted to it. Drug abuse is something that changes the brain in many ways without any proper control. Drug Abuse is nothing but using drugs in a bad way. Now a day, many students are addicted to drugs, which means that they are not only destroying themselves but also destroying the people who depend on them. for example, consider there is a poor family where parents are depending on their son. If the son is addicted to drugs, then what's the position of their family??? Because once's a person is addicted to drugs, he doesn't have to control his thoughts or he can't concentrate on his studies, which affects his goals also.

Nowadays,Youth feels that Drinking alcohol or Smoking is a style. It may be because of movies or their surroundings or their age. But they don't understand the impact on their career. If we consider 100 people, among them, 95% of people are addicted to drugs. Now you can understand the influence of drugs on people and the rate is increasing rapidly. Youth is one who helps in nation development.SO, we need to change ourselves and motivate others because it not only destroy their career but also their Nation. Initially, It is difficult to avoid such addiction but there are so many rehabilitation centers i.e, A clinic where people with an alcohol or drug addiction are treated. Due to the rapid growth in drug addiction rates, the government is trying to educate the people and make available to people.

txt

A common problem that villages face is the lack of lighting on the roads and pathways and considering the rural surroundings, it can get quite risky for the villagers to walk around in the night as there can be snakes and more. A team of students affiliated to Hyderabad Youth Assembly (HYA) took it upon themselves to get street lights installed in Chenchupally village under Vikarabad Mandal and within a couple of weeks after initiating it, they managed to install five solar-powered street lights in that village.

About the initiative, a team member Sravya informs, "Samutsaha (our team) wanted to implement Goal 7 (Affordable and clean energy- ensure access to affordable, sustainable and clean energy for all) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as decided by the assembly and that why we decided to go with illuminating roads in a rural place."

They spent a couple of weeks scouting for a suitable place and narrowed down to five villages and they conducted surveys in each village before finally zeroing down on Chenchupally. "Mr. Ramakrishna, a teacher and a resident of Chevella has been associated with our parent organisation - Street Cause - for over a decade now and when we approached him with this plan, he suggested five villages and asked us to do our homework on those villages. Out of those five villages, we realised that two of them weren't feasible and two would get a very minimal impact so we decided to go with Chenchupally," shares Sravya.

The team of 11 students from various colleges raised a whopping Rs. 65, 840 just by getting donations from their friends and families for this. "When we started getting information as to what it would cost and all, we came to know it would cost about Rs. 13,000 per light. Having raised the money before the assembly through donations from friends and family members, we then took the permission of the government authorities and the Sarpanch of the village and finally, on December 22, 2019, we installed those lights there," says Sravya, who is a student of St. Francis.

txt
rich_1578489723108

As soon as the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed in both houses of parliament and given presidential nod making it law, loud murmurs started about another move - the National Register of Citizens or NRC. what is NRC and does it really create a problem together with CAA ?

NRC is the National Register of Citizens. The NRC identified illegal immigrants from Assam on the Supreme court's order. This has been a state-specific exercise to keep it's ethnic uniqueness unaltered. But ever since it's implementation, there has been a growing demand for its nationwide implementation. Now, many top BJP leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah have proposed that the NRC in Assam be implemented across India. It effectively suggests to bring in a legislation that will enable the government to identify infiltrators who have been living in India illegally, detain them and deport them to where they came from.

The proposed Bill, which till now remains just a proposal, if implemented will target illegal immigrants in India. But Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains and Parris coming from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh won't be affected, if they claim they have arrived India after fleeing religious persecution. Which essentially means, if a nationwide NRC comes in as proposed, any illegal immigrant from other than Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, will be affected. And as for those three nations, people coming from there who belong to muslim community will also be affected as they are not included in the Citizenship Amendment Act.

It's no secret that teenagers are risk-takers who don't always recognize the consequences of their actions. Cannabis is the most common illegal drug used by teenagers, with around one in five having tried it at least once. Parents worry a lot about their child becoming dependent on drugs, such as methamphetamines (speed and ice), ecstasy, heroin, and cocaine.

The youth today are more confused, more rebel, more emotionally troubled and less idealistic.

There are no much stronger reasons for a student to get drug-addicted but most of them include curiosity, stress, peer pressure, emotional struggles and moreover, a desire to escape.

Statics reveal that deaths caused by drugs and smoking exceeds those caused by aids and accidents. Youth that is involved in drug abuse are led into a criminal life. Teens addicted to drugs try to exhibit high-risk behaviors like violence, destruction of property, poor performance in studies and profound health issues such as:

-> Brain damage

-> Lung diseases

-> Loss of appetite

-> Abnormal heart rate and even heart strokes

-> Problems with memory and decision making

-> Death

International day against drug abuse is celebrated on 26th June of every year. Preventive measures include increasing social competence, strengthening personal commitments against drugs and family members are instructed to observe their teens and stay in touch with their friends and notice the changes in the behavior and to take necessary preventive measures.

While the climate of Hyderabad is not as bad as it gets up in North India, winters here can be pretty bad. Though December 2019 is being considered to be a warm winter in comparison to the previous years, the temperature plummeted to 14°C in the last week of December. Now that is cold enough to make us want to huddle up in our hoodies and blankets with a cup of hot chocolate at home but there are many, who are not fortunate enough to be able to afford even a basic shelter over their heads. According to some surveys, the number of homeless people in Hyderabad is around 1500 while the true number could be way higher. Homelessness in conjunction with low temperatures like that can even lead to deaths. That is the sad reality.

However, a bunch of students from Guru Nanak Institution, associated with the Street Cause chapter of that college, decided to take it up into their own hands and do their part to protect the homeless from the bitter cold. In the last week of December, these students went around the city, scouting for homeless people and gave them blankets to ensure they have minimal warmth at the very least.
