In Nizambad-Jagtial Lok Sabha constituency, on the last day of nominations, the Election commission received 190+ nominations, all filed by farmers and now the total nominations have increased to 245.

The farmers were irritated after their elected representatives failed to provide minimum support price for turmeric and maize, which are the major agriculture- produce in the region. The cost of turmeric 10 years ago was 10,000 per quintal now it has gone below to 4,000 per quintal. The former government even promised to provide a Turmeric research center in Nizambad-Jagtial region and this has never happened. The irritated farmers united and filed the nominations who wanted their voice of suffering and distress reach New delhi. Eventually this created havoc in the hearts of ruling party and contesting candidates from major political parties and it grabbed the attention of national media and thus this issue become a hot debate across the length and breadth of the country.

Why ballot papers now ??

EVMs have replaced conventional ballot paper voting system and now they are used for recording votes across India in all general elections.

A EVM consists of a ballot unit, the voting machine and Control unit, the vote recording machine. EVMs can cater to a maximum of 64 candidates (including NOTA). There is provision for 16 candidates in one Balloting Unit. If the total number of candidates exceeds 16, a second Balloting Unit can be linked in series to the first Balloting Unit. Similarly, if the total number of candidates exceeds 32, a third Balloting Unit can be attached and if the total number of candidates exceeds 48, a fourth Balloting Unit can be attached to cater to a maximum of 64 candidates (Including NOTA).

Though in EVMs manufactured after 2013(Upgraded Post-2006 version) 24 Balloting units can be attached to one control unit catering to a maximum of 384 candidates (including NOTA),this has been never practically tested in any general election so far.

For catering of 245 candidates names + a NOTA requires 16 ballot unit linked in series. Such an arrangement would have following implications

1. An arrangement of 16 ballot units might occupy an entire room in poll station, which would interrupt easy conduct of election and movement of voters in and out of polling station.

2.Voters may face hardships in finding the candidate name & symbol of their choice in 16 ballot units.

3. Most importantly, such arrangements of 16 ballot units has to done in all polling stations in Nizambad- Jagityal constituency. The number of polling station is more than 1500.

4. Lastly, procurement, transfer of EVMs before and after elections would be a daunting task for Election Commission representatives.

So, Election Commission may shift to ballot papers, which is again a daunting task or postpone the elections of in that single constituency for a while.

The final decision rest with the Election Commission, Let's wait and see what happens.

Either way voice of farmers has been heard by the whole nation and let's hope the winning party will bring down their suffering and distress and make necessary steps to provide minimum price for their agriculture produce.
"}]
The biggest river island of the world, Majuli, is situated in the Brahmaputra river. In 2016, it was the first island to be made a district in India. It can be reached through a ferry from the Nimati Ghat, which is located in the nearest town of Jorhat, Assam. Travellers can easily enjoy a breathtaking view of the mighty Brahmaputra while on the ferry. Though it is place with a rich history of culture and heritage, Majuli faces the brunt of floods and erosion every year, and nothing much has been done to prevent it.

Majuli has been the cultural capital of Assam since the 16th century, when the great pioneer of the neo-Vaishnavite movement, Srimanta Sankardeva visited the island and established monasteries and hermitages known as satras. Many of The Satras still survive and have carried out the traditional rituals since centuries. These Satras serve as the main tourist destinations for the hundreds of tourists around the world flocking to the island every year. It is a wetland, and thus has a rich diversity of flora and fauna.Tourists often the chance to go bird watching, as it offers them a wide range of options. Ali aye ligang, a cultural festival, is celebrated during mid-February every year with great grandeur.

But unfortunately, Majuli has been a victim of floods and soil erosion over the years. About 33% of the island has been eroded since the 20th century and around 35 villages have been washed away since 1990-1991. Surveys report that the island would disappear due to erosion, 15-20 years from now. The state government has done all it can, but in vain. The fury of the Brahmaputra never lets Majuli away from it's grip. The Union Government has pledged around 55 Million USD to save the island. Proposals have also been sent to UNESCO to declare it as a world heritage site. All efforts should be continuously maintained to save this great island from extinction.

Though you might not be able to see it;

the truth remains the same.

No matter what you think,

this is how I feel for you.

Against all even and odds,

remember that,

I am always there for you...!!

What is love for you,

Was a question, not quite new

But something changed this time

Because love was true, just not mine.

Love had a different definition,

Tbh, a quite soothing rendition

Because amidst all the chaos,

The true meaning was a victory at loss.

It was not the complications it brought along,

But a person, with whom you belong.

It's not about the adjustments where you bend,

But the person who is first your perfect friend.

It is when you're real and don't have to pretend,

Someone whom you can comprehend.

It happens when you imprint a difference,

And love makes you, your first preference.

It's the feeling of comfort, care and belief

And when, you whisper out your sigh of relief.

Love is when, it just fits

A feeling of home resides in all your bits.

It's not the theory where everything that falls, breaks.

But how your heart melts, just like the snow flakes

It's about how love makes you bounce back after you fall,

And when you find peace, in that one phone call.

Maybe I am still in an illusion,

Love to me, remains a confusion

But I know one thing for sure

Love is something very real and pure.

It's in the small things I see,

Which makes me be me

From love, I don't want you to hide

Know that, love will always calm away the tide.

There's a lot more to Say

But my heart is Right now like clay

It has to be moulded with emotions right

Because to express, words are out of sight

And at last, one thing remains to say

The little gestures of love, are what makes your day

Love, is everywhere. The people you admire, the things you adore

Love never lets happiness and hope away from your shore.

IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to be awarded with Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar.

Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be the first recipient of the ‘Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar’ instituted by the Akhil Bharatiya Digambar Jain Mahasamiti, a functionary of the organisation said Sunday.

Varthaman, piloting a Mig-21 Bison, shot down a Pakistan Air Force F-16 with an R-73 air-to-air missile in a dogfight on February 27 before his aircraft took a hit and he had to eject.

He was captured by Pakistan forces soon after and was released on March 1.

Commander Varthaman stood strong though was hit hard by the opponent and spoke nothing. We all get to learn about his love and determination towards the nation. Today, the Wing Commander Stands as an inspiration and role model to each citizen of the nation.

The award for our fighter pilot was announced by the organisation’s chairperson Manidra Jain in New Delhi. The chairperson said its Maharashtra chapter convener Paras Lohade in Nashik.

This year, the award declared, carries a cash prize of Rs 2.51 lakh, a memento and a citation that will be presented to Abhinandan Varthaman on Mahavir Jayanti, April 17, 2019 revealed Lohade.
"}]
We are seeing a lot of changes around us, be it technology, environment and many more. However, there has been a change in the human’s behaviour also. As days are passing, we are becoming more restless and impatient. We are slowly losing the power of waiting, listening and enjoying little things. It can be due to many factors. We rush in the last moment to get out and get stuck in traffic. We get so restless in few seconds and start honking all the way just to move an “inch” forward. Sometimes we create a big scene if the WI-FI slows down or the network doesn’t work properly. The technology has made everything easy and flexible. It gives us results in few seconds, makes transactions faster and speeds up our work. Today, If we had to stand in line to get some work done which takes a bit more longer, we get impatient and start contending against the system. Despite the age, no one is willing to wait for extra few minutes to get their work done.

We are building expectations as we want everything on time, quick and crisp. We are missing out on the small details. Being impatient sometimes doesn’t even let us have a good conversation with others because we don’t tend to listen more than 5mins what others are trying to say. We might have attended many events where the special guests give some speeches, after few minutes we are like “When is this gonna end? Everyone gives the same old boring speeches.” We don’t even give time to ourselves to listen completely and think if we are gonna like it or not. We never know if we might get inspired unless we listen to it. Have you ever experienced, where you were in a rush to leave and you haven’t found the thing that you need yet? We become so restless while searching and we don’t find it on time. It just delays the process and our brain doesn’t concentrate while searching as it becomes messy and confused. You will only find it when you are calm and settled.

We make great plans and sometimes it doesn’t turn out the way we planned it to be. Being impatient can turn the best plans into a disaster or being patient takes you to a new adventure that you haven’t experienced yet. What’s meant to be will always find it’s way. So, don’t rush just enjoy the moment.

"}]

Q: Tell us about yourself. What do you do?

Hi, I am Chaitanya. I am doing final year of engineering in ECE. I am CEO of Hungry harbor, a student startup in campus called Vignan University located at Vadlamudi, Guntur City.

txt
rich_1552043391999

Q: Why did u get an idea to start your own business?

Basically, our place is 20km away from Guntur City and 11km away from Tenali, the two places where there is availability of resources like food, medicines and any other basic essentials. So we thought of bridging this gap because we have 7000 people in campus comprising students, faculty and staff members. So, we at Hungry harbor deliver food by collaborating with top restaurants.

Q: Can you tell us more precisely about your startup?

We started it a year ago and have done the background work for almost 6 months as it involved permissions from central board of university ended up getting it on a condition that we cannot enter the campus. We deliver food from 8 reputed restaurants. We actually started it as an offline service i.e. through phone calls, but eventually we made it as an online service. We developed website and mobile application with the help of an agriculture student who is also a member of Hungry harbor now.

Q: What are all the challenges you faced in persisting your startup?

We faced many problems in the beginning like distance, investment. All the restaurants we deliver from are at a distance of more than 20km and our academics had to be kept at stake. And the other major challenge was to get investment. We are a team of 5 people, 3 of us are from BBA and the other two are from B.Tech managed to gather an amount of 1 lakh bucks and that’s how it all started. The common idea among us was to serve the purpose of providing delicious food to students.

When it was an offline service, we had many complaints. Once we made it online things became better. But because of a fake complaint about the food delivered by Hungry harbor we had to shut down for 6 months which we thought is an end of our startup. Later I with the help of Co-Founder Sampath managed to prove that it was a fake complaint and then we slowly started gaining trust because it was the most important factor after all happened by making everything organized.

txt
rich_1552043392005

Q: What are your plans to expand?

We got merchandise for Hungry Harbor and are planning to collaborate with desi food makers. The next update will have fruits to order online which is done in demand by the students and background research. By the end of 2019 we will try to serve the Guntur town. Once we have good capital to invest on delivery boys we will expand it in Guntur town as well. Presently our 5 member team manages everything from technical support to delivering the food. Respecting each other’s opinions and after a lot of struggle since more than 6 months we are going to open hungry harbor food court inside the campus with desi food at affordable prices.

txt
rich_1552043392006

Q: Tell us about your team.

Well we are a team of five people.

1. Sampath from Second year in BBA

2. Anurag from Second year in BBA

3. Vamshi from Second year in BBA

4. Sanjay from final year in Agriculture who deals our technical stuff

txt
rich_1552043392007

Q: How do you balance your work-life and how do you deal when in pressure?

Basically, we work early in the morning from 8-10 am and then we will take care of academics and then after project hours our technical team will give us the lead if there is any delivery to be picked up. So, it’s not like we have routine but it’s all spontaneous schedules

txt
rich_1552043392008

Q: How is your service different from the existing systems?

Our food delivery service is available throughout 21km from Guntur to Vadlamudi, which is not more than 10km if you take any other existing systems. And we have also taken care in choosing the categories of food that we include in our application. If there is any case where we are expecting a delay in delivery, we make sure necessary precautions like hot pack or cold containers as such. So, we make sure every minute things are also taken care of.

txt
rich_1552043392009

Q: Where do you see Hungry Harbor after five years?

After five years we would probably be a leading food delivery service in all the major cities of India.

txt
rich_1552043392010

Q: What inspired you to start Hungry Harbor?

Well, series of entrepreneurship events hosted by Sri Charan Lakkaraju and series of activities done as part of E-cell right from first year of engineering. I have always been a start up enthusiast and started with working for team called “Corporate communications” which helped me in developing a good network and interpersonal skills. Later I started to know about public relations work, financial logistics work, soft skills and marketing work. With all the experience I gained I worked as marketing lead for central level fest.
