Extremely long queues rivalling the queue at Tirupati has become a common sight at any ATM across the country, thanks to demonitization. As of last week, the daily withdrawal limit is Rs. 2000 and that has lead to a massive shortage of liquid cash among all citizens. But our beloved students, who are experts in the stereotypical Indian Jugaad to solve problems, have figured out several quirky and funny life hacks to get cash without having to bother going to an ATM.

txt
rich_1481010826409

Meet Srikar Aditya, an MBA student from the city. Like every other student, he has a swanky smartphone loaded with apps and he uses his phone to make app based transactions. “I make a lot of app based transactions and most of the time, I go to a bakery owned by a friend of mine. He gets a lot of cash so I just transfer him money in the app and I take how much ever I want,” says Aditya.

txt
rich_1481010832543

While this seems like a normal simple life hack, Srinath, another B-school student has another life hack which takes some managerial and team management skills. “Whenever we have to celebrate a friend’s birthday or whenever a bunch of us go out, I take the responsibility of making the cake/treats/gift purchases or to book tickets and I just take Rs. 100 and Rs. 50 from everyone. These can be expected but what Mekaeel Shaikh did is quirkier than anything we’ve heard of. “I know that beggars in the city have a lot of change with them. I found a beggar at a medical shop and I took the change from him and made the payment for him using my card. He regularly exchanges money at that particular shop. So I just paid the shop using my card, they gave him Rs. 100 notes and I conveniently ended up with a lot of change,” explains Mekaeel.

txt
rich_1481010892081

According to the Business Standard, India has no law to protect customers in the event of a failed
digital transactions. In times of demonetization, when our country is going cashless, it is important to

remember these few points to protect your account and money from being compromised.

1) Never Share Your Pin

It goes without saying that you are never supposed to share your pin with anyone. Every bank in the

world strongly recommends not sharing your Personal Identification Number with anyone, not even

your friends and family, but since there are a few instances where you have no choice, it is important to

remember that you never share your PIN with staff at a restaurant or a petrol bunk.

Never enter your information or make payments on websites that start with HTTP, websites and

companies that care about their customers make sure to have security certifications and an HTTPS URL,

which protects their customers (and themselves) from hackers. Password Managers help in keeping all your passwords in one place, behind one master password. Saying video games are a waste of time is quite a common sentiment amongst the older generation, but the fact is gaming can be quite important to your life, because video games have evolved exponentially over the last 20 years alone. Games are also excellent tools to teach children about discipline and teamwork, and even among adults, it can be a tool to bond, unwind or in case of competitive games, an exercise in teamwork. Games like Assassin’s Creed can also be used as a way to teach history, as long as the teacher makes it a point to separate the fact from the fiction. It was a quintessential weekday afternoon in December 1999 when I came home from school. The first thing that greeted me was the sight of a technician hooking up a this white box with another white box that looked like a miniaturised TV. As a middle-class 90s kid, that was my first encounter with a computer. That was the day when my grandfather taught me how to turn it on, open MS Paint and then shut it down. My ecstasy at being given access to that was unparalleled. Now, years later, when I sit with my swanky Mac laptop and type this; I totally understand the privilege that I had access to back then.

txt
rich_1480676442526

December 2 is internationally observed as the World Computer Literacy Day and when my google calendar told me this, I got thinking and decided to do some research of my own. While the number is not accurately known, only 6.5% of the country’s population knows how to use a computer. This is a shocking number as the urban population of the country is 31.16%. The radio and television reach is less than 150 million households while the mobile phone outreach is more than 53% of about 330 million households. While the computer literacy rate is slightly higher in IT cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore and Delhi, rest of the country still practically lives in the 1980s. Almost all of the three million Panchayat heads (rural administrators) are computer illiterate.

txt
rich_1480676465189

This bluntly means that the 93.5% of the country’s population that is computer illiterate, has absolutely no access to the wide range of services offered by the internet, government or private. The governments seem to be doing something along these lines every few years but there hasn’t been significant traction in this regard. For example, in 2011, there was the whole hype about those Akash Tablets that were to be given to all students by the government of India. The hype died away as quickly as it came into picture.

txt
rich_1480676475125

It is only privileged people like myself who now have the access to computers and people like myself posting a digitised image on a social media platform (for people like myself) again, will in no way benefit the rest of the population. This is not to preach, nor to diss the government’s actions (or inactions rather). This is just to explain the importance and significance of privilege in ones’ life and what the lack of it can do.

txt
rich_1480676484885

The Telangana government recently tied up with Microsoft and initiated a process called TS-CLASS (Telangana State Computer Literacy and Skills in Schools) in government schools to impart computer literacy at a grassroots level. Why students don't like Maths !

1+1=2

The basic maths which was taught to everyone in their primary schooling days . My personal experience with maths is quite a very bad one . Basically I'm nt a Maths Person .

During my primary schooling days , I used to love maths like a hell. I use to be very attentive in the class n use to do all my maths homework's by my own. But once I reaches my High school level Maths became a tough one of mine and thereby made me as I'm not a maths person .
I'm not an exception case for this. There are many students like me who hate maths . I asked many of my friends why students hate maths .
The answers what i got were quite same from everyone.
In my primary schooling time teachers made me to learn Maths in a very interesting way. I still remember , how my teacher made me to learn the Additions, Subtractions by takes the flowers ,chocolates and adding it, subtracting it, where I was more interested in knowing the count of the chocolates and flowers, rather than the Maths . But when I reached my high schooling stage the main problem was the change of teachers thereby the syllabus, following the critical imagination.
Maths at this stage has alot of conceptual questions rather than logical, more of imagining rather than solving.
Those unsolved equations, several step for one single answer had made the things , probably the Maths tougher.
High school teaching is quite different , they are more interested in completing the syllabus rather than the knowledge. Even the textual information is not clear and upto the mark, the explanation part from teachers are also not that clear which can make the students experts in that topic.
The boring classes , unreasonable answers , long explanations, several steps, confused imaginations, un ending equations and so much of work just for one question..............
All these had made the MATHS a tougher one to most of the students.
My writing of this article is not to tell the loop holes of teaching . In fact to make the subject an interesting one which can help the students .
According to me few changes need to done to erase the statement " I'm not a Maths Person".
This could be done only with the help of teachers and even the book publishers and not to forget the students too.
If the text books find the correct answers and exact explanation , we can expect teachers to teach in a better way, and ultimately the students will get a lot of interest to learn maths .
If we go on further Maths is the main step to any subject . If maths is not taught well , students in later phase had to suffer alot to come again to the basics which is highly impossible.
Apart from teaching , abacus and Vedic maths ,help alot in learning the maths . Vedic maths make the student think in a logic way and abacus help the students to be quick while calculating.

Maths can change the histories if it is taught by proper guidance.......
And can make the future a most advanced one.

Thanking you
Sai Pavan Kumar
AVNIET
"}]
