Ashwini Nene, a computer science student hailing from Mumbai became the first Indian to achieve a perfect score in the GRE post 2011, which is when the exam format was changed.

The Graduate Record Examinations held for admissions into graduate schools in the United States of America underwent changes in 2011, when the format of the examination was changed from a 200 to 800 scale to a 120-170 scale, with the maximum amount of marks a candidate can get capped at 340.

In an interview published by The Better India, Ashwini Nene talks about how her love for studying and reading helped her immensely in preparing for the GRE, crediting her parents whom she describes as bibliophiles themselves, for encouraging her to read from a very young age.

Today, Ashwini works in San Francisco after having graduated from UCLA recently. The interview on TBI goes into better detail on her Ashwini's tips to clear GRE with flying colours, however, the fact remains that in a country as obsessed with marks as ours, Ashwini has not only impressed her peers, but also her critics with her impressive display.
"}]
Lab external is actually one of the most difficult exams for students. In this article I'm going to write about how students face problems in a lab external exam and the funny things they do.

1.Unexpected Questions:

External faculty are very clever that they can scare the students by giving unexpected and indirect questions. They will ask to write programs which are not executed in lab hours. The amount of over action done by lab assistants is directly proportional to the questions they give in the exam.

2.Unexpected Answers:

Students are cleverer than the external faculty. Students write the answers unexpected for the unexpected questions. Haha! Students always hardly prepare 2 or 3 experiments or programs and they will write those answers, but not regarding the questions. After seeing our program lab external faulty will make a headbang and almost about to faint.

3.The Pokers:

Toppers always find the questions very easy and they answer them so quickly. The backbenchers always poke them for the answers and they will be caught to the invigilators. If invigilator ask "what are you asking for" then students reply "I was asking for a pencil sir"!.

4.Accurate Values:

It's very hard to execute a program on external exam though students have executed them in lab hours. Few will write the output values which are opted from the toppers. Students rarely executes a program or an experiment in an external exam due to nervousness. They opt values from toppers and plot them on the graphs without executing the program or experiment.

5.The VIVA:

And here comes a chance to prove our acting skills and dialogue writing skills. We make funny expressions for whatever the external ask. We will become dumb after listening to their questions. We will feel like sitting in an oven during viva session. After finishing the viva, next batch students will interview you about the whole examination and viva session. Sarcastically we will say that external is very easy and viva session ran smoothly. And the music starts for the next batch.
"}]
With the release of the highly anticipated Bahubali: The Conclusion almost upon us, a website by the name newtickets.in popped up out of nowhere following some launch announcement on Facebook, promising to sell tickets of SS Rajamouli's magnum opus.

Now normally, this wouldn't have caused much of an issue, except for the fact that this website was started only on April 7th, registered in Coimbatore but runs on an IP address from Dubai. That alone is a giant red flag.

However, the second warning signs came when the website showed empty theatres across the city for Bahubali: The Conclusion while the same tickets were shown to be already booked on BookMyShow. That didn't stop Newtickets.in from happily accepting your money, however. Payment still went through and you were shown that you have booked tickets already, when in reality your money goes to the scammers. So after some sleuthing and reporting to the Cyber Crimes division, it has now come to light that the website runs on an IP address based in Dubai.

It's important to to remember not to be scammed by such elements. Usually the saying trust but verify applies, but when it comes to one of the most anticipated Telugu movies of all time, you have to verify before trusting. Besides, the website only advertised Bahubali: The Conclusion and no other movie, and that alone should have turned most people off.

But I don't really blame people for wanting to see the crowning jewel of Telugu cinema on the first day. However, if you missed your chance, you can still participate in the Bahubali Quiz we conduct and stand a chance to win Day 1, first day first show tickets to Bahubali: The Conclusion, just check stuMagz Facebook page for more details, or you could check out the quiz by clicking here!
"}]
This summer has been unbearable, and it's not even May yet. Considering the fact that many students today have exams and still have to go to college in this unbearable heat, we ask various students how they're dealing with the heat. Here's what they had to say.

Shiva Seshasai of MGIT said, "We had to travel 25 kilometres in scorching heat. The journey included multiple stops at juice stands, about 5 actually," he laughs, "other than that, I'm just staying home, with the AC on, playing DoTA and Overwatch."

However, not everyone is lucky enough to have a functional AC in the summers, like Nekitha Rao says, "The AC in my room is out of order," she laments, "and it doesn't help that the sun is unbearable and unforgiving. Luckily we have water coolers in college, and we have access to cold water, which helps. But apart from that, there's very little we can do to escape the heat" says the student of GRIET.

While living in the comfort of your own home is unbeatable, dealing with the heat while in the college hostel is a whole different ball game, as Unnati Palan says. This student of IIT Gandhinagar doesn't have a cooler in her hostel room, but she's come up with an innovative solution to keep cool in Gujarat's unbearable heat, "I take ice cold water and sprinkle it around the room, which helps in cooling the place down. The other students, however, have coolers and are making do with it" she says, "It's horrific, however. You can't go out without umbrellas over your head, just walking to the academic area is a nightmare."

Further north, in New Delhi, second year engineering student in Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Technology Jeevan Deep Singh talks about how students have been dealing with getting to college in Delhi's infamous summer heat, "There's no AC buses on the route to college, so we mostly end up using Uber and carpooling to the college. Most of us who used scootys or bikes to come to college are now using Uberpool," he says, "however, at home I've been using the AC and bathing twice a day to keep cool."

While using Uberpool and availing AC buses if the option presents itself is great, often times the option may not exist at all. In such cases, Shravika Reddy from SREC, Warangal, has a few tips for students to stay cool, especially those who drive to college. "It's important to stay hydrated and drink a lot of juice. Whenever one's going out, it's also important to remember to use sunscreens with the right amount of SPF, eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Protecting eyes and face with sunglasses and scarves or helmets is also a must," says the young student, "people often underestimate how useful sunscreens can be."

Having a dream of starting a band and making it big is a dream that isn't uncommon to the young students across the country, however, very few put the effort, the dedication and the sacrifices required to go that extra mile required to achieve their goals. It is incredible, then, to know about the bands that are forged with the hopes and dreams of students and go on to survive the fires of their professional lives.

Among one such bands, is TAP - The Acoustic Project. Formed in 2013 by students of St. Joseph's College of Commerce, the band is currently in it's 4th year, with the students of yesterday becoming professionals of today and yet retaining their love for music. We speak with Pilith Pericho, one of the two vocalists of the band about their music and their journey so far.

"Six of us started the band back in college," says Pilith Pericho, "we grew to 9 members, but now we're back to 6. Of the 6, 3 of us were from the same class."

The current line up of the band has Jonathan Adriel on the guitars, John D'souza on the percussion, Peter Alvin who is a beatboxer, and Tony Joy, Adrian Jeffery, Pilith Pericho on the vocals.

We ask Pilith about their journey as a band and how much their music has changed since inception, "Our music has definitely changed, it's matured over the years. We, as a band, have grown these past 4 years and we'll continue improving our sound for the days to come," says Pilith, "back then we were jamming wherever we could, today we have our own studio where we jam" he goes on to explain.

Speaking on musical influences, Pilith spoke at length about where they drew inspiration from and what inspired them when they first started out, "For a time, Pentatonix was one of our biggest influences," he says, referring to the American a cappella group, "but as the years went by, we started drawing inspiration from other artists as well, like Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. Think of it this way, we draw inspirations from what's trending right now and we work with it."

Pilith was quite happy with the crowd at TEDx GITAM Hyderabad, "The crowd was amazing and lively, whatever vibes we were trying to give to the audience through our music, we were getting the same vibes back from them, and when that happens you know your show is going to be memorable" he says with a smile.

The conversation shifts towards discussing student bands, with us asking Pilith what his advice would be for student bands who want to make it big, because TAP itself started as a student band.

Pilith pondered over the question for a second and then said, "I've seen so many students, students who are incredibly talented in music, stop performing after college is done because they choose to focus on their professional lives. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, but it makes me think of what they could have done," he pauses, "I think the most important part for students in bands today who'll graduate soon, is to never lose the music in you. Always keep music as a part of yourself, a part of your identity, and the rest will fall in place. No matter what happens, never let that music in you go."

Creative fields are not as easy as they appear to be, and The Acoustic Project is not stranger to this fact. Pilith, who currently works in Goldman Sachs as a senior analyst, hopes that one day the members of the band can quit their jobs and go into music full time. The message here is clear: life goes on but as long as you believe in something, you fight for it, tooth and nail if you must, to achieve your goals.

From performing fantastic songs to being a shining example of chasing your dreams no matter what, this is one band students must look up to for their sheer dedication to the craft.
