We all want to be happy... but is it really enough to want or we need to do something to have that?

txt

Here's for the people who want to be happy. Cheers guys, you are one step ahead of others who still think what gives them happiness. I was one hell of a person who never knew how to be happy. Sad truth to be told, I always threw myself into the depths of suppression and continuous depression even when my surroundings didn't really tend to it. I cursed people for my unhappy life, blaming them for my mistakes and mood swings.

txt

Mood swings happen with many reasons. But are the reasons really suitable? Nope. Not really. As I told already I was a pessimist. I used 'WAS' because I can proudly say I'm not one now. If you ask me what I am today, I am a happy person who thinks to be happy and really, who leads her life happily.

txt

Over the years, life teaches us loads of lessons even when we aren't ready for it. It makes us either the best version of us or results in the worst, stress and depression. All people want to be happy. But do we really do something to be happy? The answer is most of us don't. I never tried to be happy because I thought the people around me, the world wouldn't work if I stay happy. All think the same.

txt

But all we need is to understand what happiness means. It is a feeling no arguments in that but it starts from a thought. I know I'm crazy now. Believe me, when I say I'm the happiest today, I mean I'm the happiest. I'm the happiest not because I have no problems, I have a lot of work, sneers and many thinks I'm lethargic to. But what makes me happy is the thought I AM HAPPY.

txt

This only feeling I give myself everyday every morning as I get up, sets my day in gear. Even if I waste the whole day, still I am happy. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything at all. Note it. It just means you can find your happiness in the silliest things. Water the plants, start writing your journal, laugh loud enough to hear it on a small joke, easiest of all just think you are happy. Your thoughts define you is something I learned is true. I want everyone around me to be happy now. Before this if anyone came up with a problem, I'd give solution but now I give an advice to look at the brighter side with the chance to experience something new. How big the problem is, your thought solves it for you. Though cheesy, it's true.

txt

Stay happy guys. In this quarantine, you can all develop the same thought as mine, I full heartedly half expecting that you'll reach the end assure you, you'll find your happiness. Love...

txt
For Kalyan Vasanth, a 29-year-old vocalist and veena player from Hyderabad, music was something that got into his life the way a person's mother-tongue gets into their life, as he was born into a family of musicians and music lovers. His musical journey started at a tender age of five, when most people would just be forming coherent sentences. About his beginning, the singer who lent his voice for a song in the movie Ek Niranjan says, "There was a musical environment at home as my mom is a veena player and grandparents are musicians. My mother used to cook or do something around the house and keep telling me about a ragam in a particular song or talk about notes in a song that was being played on the tape-recorder or some such. I learnt the theoretical aspects of music before I picked music up."

Later, he started training under his mother and because he was already familiar with the theoretical aspects of music, he directly learnt a few keerthanas first before his mother decided he should learn in the proper format. This continued for the next few years till 1998, when he took part in his first reality show - Paadutha Theeyaga. "As an 8-year-old, it was an enriching experience for me and I got into semi-finals in that competition that year. Later, I also took part in SPB's Paadalannunnadi."

After these, he started training formally because he wanted to get certifications in Veena and vocals. Having earned his diplomas in both, he then took part in various Carnatic events by Kalasagaram, SICA and more, securing a podium finish in most of the competitions. It was after this that he started concerts. In his concerts, the winner of All India Radio competitions, explains, "There's an aspect of carnatic concerts - Manodharmam, which includes spontaneous improvisation. Because I was a kid when I started concerts, my mother used to write the notes and tell me to follow that during the Manodharmam segment of my concert because she didn't want to risk it. But I saw it as a budding swimmer taking off the tube and swimming for the first time and I used to try improvising. I slowly started improvising by myself and I got good at it."

The skill that he developed then, is what has made him a popular person on YouTube, as his videos online feature him doing carnatic covers of popular songs. His version of the popular song Inkem Inkem Kavale has over 3 lakh views. "I wanted to do something unique using my skill. Many of the film songs that we see have a carnatic base to them, as they are set to a particular ragam. So I added elements of the ragam that this song is based on and I did the video. Later, a music company took it up and published it on their channel, as they loved the version of this," says the versatile musician, who also worked as an Assistant Director with Rajamouli for Bahubali.

His videos grabbed the attention of pub-owners, who requested him to perform at their venues and that is when his journey with his band, the Saregama Project, started. "People who are not musicians, don't know the technical aspects of music, as I said earlier that every song is based on some ragam or the other. So I started performing to film songs with carnatic elements of those songs. The instrumental carnatic elements which are usually done on the Mridangam, Ghatam and Violin were being done here on the Keyboard, Guitar and rock drums and this gives a unique sound, which is usually called fusion music and people loved it whenever I performed fusion music at these pubs," says the singer, who is currently working on his own compositions that he plans to release in the near future.

txt
rich_1587116870118

The beautiful journey of our friendship started from there and it was all about a thorough learning experience each day!! I got to know her immense interest in writing and the spark that she used to get in her eyes while speaking about her passion (Writing).

So, what makes her stand out in the crowd among other writers is her commitment and dedication towards her writing.
