How many times have you opened a book in college only to have your friends tease you with phrases like ‘Eyyy topper’, ‘Chaduvu bidda’, and other miscellaneous phrases that are designed to make you shut your book out of embarrassment? If you study in an engineering college, chances are that you’ve heard it a lot. This is just a tiny slice of what I believe is a world-wide conspiracy to make humans tend to mediocrity.

Seriously, think about it. Consider every rom-com ever, in which the strong, ambitious, highly intelligent protagonist who works hard to be a productive member of society is ‘tamed’ by romance and is shown the joy of being ordinary and mediocre. Think about every time Penny calls Leonard and the gang ‘boring’, every time Ted Mosby’s friends make farting noises when he tries to tell them an interesting fact, the time Hermoine Granger was made to say ‘Books! And cleverness! There are more important things - friendship and bravery’, every movie in which the lead character left behind a high-flying career to pursue a smaller but more fulfilling one closer home, every book or movie in which the smart one was the sidekick and the lovable goof with the big heart was the protagonist. Do you see what I see? Do you feel the world collectively glorifying mediocrity?

Any attempt to do more or better yourself is met with passive-aggressive comments trying to get you to give it up. Since when did ambition and passion become undesirable traits? The easy-going, approachable, fun-loving person is seen as the staple for a good life. The phrase ‘It’s okay’ has, in my opinion, become way too common. A lot of times, it is NOT okay. It is not okay to drift through life without purpose. It is not okay to submit your half-hearted attempts at work. It is not okay to be incurious. It is not okay to not try every moment of your existence to be the best version of yourself (yes, a double negative).

Ignore those trying to get you to be ordinary- pull out your textbook, talk incessantly about your passion, work unashamedly hard- and show everybody what it’s like to live in color in a grey world.

"}]

Erasmus Mundus originally ran from 2009 to 2013, but since 2014, the Erasmus+ program has taken over the EU Scholarship program, without completely replacing the older program. That being said, lets get to the meat of the matter.

After some cursory Google searches and going through multiple sources on the scholarship, this write up is an effort in presenting the information on the scholarship program in one single place. What is Earsmus Mundus?

Simply put, it is a program that aims to attact the best talents from across the world to Europe. Founded and funded by the European Union, it aims to create a mobility of students and professors who come into the EU for their studies, or to impart their knowledge, conduct research and more. College is some of the best times you can have in your life, the memories of which you will pass on to the next generation, fondly remember when you have a bad day to make you smile again. Because of this, it only makes sense that when in college, you have the best gangs who quickly become part of your life, but when this gang gets together to do something, to practice an art form like dance, they form unforgettable memories not just for themselves, but for the people who watch them perform as well. Meet Nemesis from GITAM Vizag, a group already famous for their fantastic dance acts.

Nemesis isn't your average gang, whether it is by what they do, or by the sheer number of people who are part of the squad. We speak with Nemesis member and final year student Lekha Sethi about the gang, their journey so far and more. Here is what she had to say

"We don't have a leader per say, but we have gurus who made Nemesis stand where it is today; Ritchie Ritesh, Venkatesh Kedari and Rahul Sai Vatikutti. They've always been around for us, helped us grow and were always focused, unwavering in their goals," says Lekha, "We are like a family. We work together, we fall together and shine together. We're always there for each other, helping in getting comfortable with a style, but also making them come out of their comfort zone to try new things."

We ask Lekha about the inception of the group and their journey so far, "Back in 2014, Ritchie felt that there needed to be a dance group in the college that was more than just a dance group, but more like family. He took this idea to Venkatesh and Rahul, and eventually, the audition process was held in August 2014," she says, "Since then we've participated in various dance competitions and made our mark on the dance scene."

Nemesis's list of achievements is nothing short of impressive, considering they only started a few short years ago. Today they are one of the top 5 teams to compete in IIT Kharagpur 2016

2nd rank sprinspree NIT Warangal 2016

Nemesis has a whopping 45 members as a part of its family, an impressive and amazing feat for a gang in a college, considering them coming together for the love of dance and to gel together as a family. We ask Lekha if there was any particular performance of Nemesis that was her favourite, and she smiled before answering, "Every performance of Nemesis has a story of its own. The hard work we put in, the dedication that goes into it, it's special in its own way."

On being asked what her advice to students who want to make something of their gang and themselves would be, Lekha quoted the gurus of the gang, "Ritchie says, 'Staying strong as a family will always help to get through all the difficulties. Nothing can stop us from achieving our dreams', Venkatesh on the other hand, 'We as a group never complained about our academics We lived in our dream and same time we are successful in our academics', and frankly that is exactly what I'd like to tell students as well."

Students coming together as a gang to do something productive or something to change the world around them is an inspiring thing, and we hope to tell more stories like this as the days come and go. Nemesis is a prime example of unity among students, coming together with a shared love of Dance and staying for the family. We wish them all the best!
"}]

Studying abroad in universities of the various European Countries can be a wonderful experience for you, with its own advantages, but how can one apply for

Here's a handy list

1. Start your research

There's plenty of resources online to help you ease into the process of applying to US Univeristies but not enough to do the same for the European ones. So it's essential to start the groundwork and hunt for the universities you want to apply right from there. You can do this by looking up the top universities in Europe, the start the process of elimination depending on your requirements, before zeroing in on the few you want to apply.

2. Understanding the requirements

Countries like Germany will grant you a student visa once you are accepted by a university in Germany, but depending on your case, you may or may not have to learn German. Although it is always a great idea to learn any European language, it is very important that you clarify whether it is required for you to learn the language before applying for the visa or not. The language certification can be essential, and if you want to work in Germany after your graduation, it is a must.

This ace student of MLR sports academy beat Daher Juan and Cifuentes Horacino, both from Argentina, in successive rounds to enter the semifinals. In the semifinals, he faced Phillip Floritz from Bulgaria and beat him 4-0. In the finals, he defeated Anthony 4-1 to win the Chile Open.

Soumyajit, who is from Siliguri, West Bengal, started the sport at a very young age, having been encouraged by his parents and in 2010, he won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Bahrain and later played a key role in ensuring India's podium finish at the the World Junior Championships in 2011, by winning both his singles matches against South Korea in the quarter-finals.

His inspiring story continues as just the year later, he became the youngest Indian ever to become the national champion at the 74th National Championships. In the same year, 2012, Soumyajit became the youngest Indian to qualify for the London Olympics. After securing several other titles in the coming years, he also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics but lost in the first round.

While we couldn't reach out to Soumyajit -as he's still in Chile, we reached out to his coach at the MLR Sports Academy, Mr. Soumyadeep Roy. "Soumyajit came to Hyderabad this year.
