For every individual who is involved with some sort of work like students, working professionals & even the ladies who take care of the home every day, following the same routine daily becomes boring at one point. And sometimes, the mind gets frustrated with the unchanging stuff that we can’t even concentrate on our work. So basically, our mind requires some change to function in a better way. And there comes the role of ‘hobbies’ in our lives.
A hobby is anything that one does regularly in leisure time. Pursuing a hobby gives an unexplainable pleasure that can only be felt. The choice of hobbies varies person to person. Some have only one while some pursue many. Actually, the hobby is one’s hidden quality; a skill that distinguishes one from the crowd. But in today’s scenario, taking out time for it has become much difficult from the busy schedules. The pressure of studies, job, and career is becoming a barrier in between.
Some people say that complete dedication to career is necessary as no hobby can earn us bread & livelihood. And because of such people & other societal parameters, many people give up on something which they enjoyed the most.
But the reality is that pursuing a hobby is necessary to have both personal & professional growth. It is like a stress-buster that makes us forget all our worries. It enables us to think creatively & in broader perspectives, thus improves our ability to handle unfavourable situations. When we are good at something, our confidence & self-esteem gets boosted & we get immune to challenges of life. And all these things are required while working in any organisation.
So, everyone must pursue a hobby or two & excel in it because it is a skill that is unique for every individual. Instead of underrating it, one must take pride on it. And it is much needed in our country when there is so much of job-crunch. “When knowledge doesn’t help, skill does”. Who knows our hobby today may become our profession tomorrow...
