This is the story of a high-spirited and diligent individual. Sameeha Mubeen, a 21-year-old graduate, got placed with an extrusive package of 17LPA CTC in one of the most reputable companies, ServiceNow. Let’s know about her intriguing journey.

Sameeha is currently pursuing her final year graduation in Computer Science & Engineering from Vasavi College of Engineering.

Being a computer science student, she always believed technology could easily bridge the gap between solutions and their implementation and is on the lookout for new material to learn and implement.

The wind of change with ServiceNow-

Sameeha began her coding quest by participating in the Code to Win, a women-only coding contest, conducted by ServiceNow. Her conspicuous performance in the contest made the company approach her with the intent to offer her a job.

The process of recruitment has 4 rounds of which 1 is a coding assessment, 2 rounds are technical and 1 HR.

When asked about the interview, She claimed- “My technical interview was more about my projects, hackathons, some core concepts of OOPS, and internal implementations. I was asked to code in both rounds, the difficulty level was Medium for both the questions, then follow-up questions on the data structures used and its time complexities.”

How about the HR interview then?

“So the HR round was quite extensive, I was asked about one of my projects, my hackathon experience, and some team conflicts. Then we moved on to some language concepts like Exception Handling. The interviewer also asked me some system design questions about popular applications like Zomato/Ola and some puzzles. The interview was concluded with some personality questions and what I knew about ServiceNow.”- exclaims Sameeha.

Preparing the ground-

Sameeha was quite ambitious and constantly strived to sharpen her skills. Her expertise lies in the CPP programming language. Having experience with competitive programming has added her an advantage in clearing the online assessments and interviews.

Sameeha’s take- “ I practised LeetCode, followed the strivers SDE sheet, and parallelly kept revising the core subjects like oops, DBMS, os. I made sure I had pointers on how to explain my projects and followed the STAR method for behavioural questions.”

What tips would you like to give to your peers for cracking the job?

Her rejoinder- “I would suggest them to participate in hackathons. I think it's a great way of having resume-ready projects and gaining team experience. Participate in contests, be it on CodeChef or Leetcode. Not to self reject themselves to opportunities and participate in most of them they come across. Be consistent and reach out to your seniors or even batchmates for insights.”

Dussehra festival has a special meaning and different reasons for different people to celebrate. In some parts of India, people celebrate Dussehra for the victory of Lord Rama, one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu, over the ten-headed demon king Ravana of Lanka, who kidnapped Rama’s wife Sita. And some others celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga Maa over the demon Mahishasura. People celebrate this festival with grace and ethnicity irrespective of how the festival is being celebrated by different people.

The various ways in which the Dussehra festival is being celebrated all over India like Dussehra is celebrated as Navratri as a festival of 9 days in Gujarat State. Garba is the folk dance form of Gujarat that plays the most important role in this festival. People keep the vibe around to the tune of folk songs with multi-coloured sticks. This marks the centre of attraction to the festival. After people worship the Goddess, enjoy playing Garba throughout the night. Both men and women get ready in traditional wear to play Garba, the traditional attires that are worn are Lehenga Choli for women and Kedia for men.

Dussehra in the Kullu town of Himachal Pradesh is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm that holds a very special significance of festivity. The festival is celebrated for seven days in Kullu and is carried out uniquely and especially. People from Kullu worship Lord Raghunath at the fairground of Dhalpur Maidan. And also, people from nearby villages and cities bring the statues of different local Gods and Goddesses to this fairground in a holy procession loading the entire place with the joy of festivity for one whole week.

Dussehra in Delhi is celebrated in regard to the defeat of the ten-headed demon king Ravana by Lord Rama. During this event, all the temples are decorated beautifully. One of the greatest attractions to the Dussehra festival all over the city in Delhi is Ram Leela. Especially for Ram Leela, special sets are constructed resembling Ayodhya, Ashoka Vatika, and Ravana Lanka. Various actors from India enact the roles of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and all other characters that exist in Ramayana reliving again. Ram Leela is a theatrical version of Ramayana and its stories, morals, ethics, is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have in his entire life in Delhi. At various locations around Delhi, the Idols of all three demons, including Ravana, Meghanad, and Kumbhakaran are set on fire to symbolise the victory of Lord Rama. And also, there are many places in Delhi, where Pandals of goddess Durga Maa are created and most of them keep a fast for nine days following all rituals.

All the nine days of Navratri are celebrated in resemblance to nine forms of Goddess Durga Maa and offer prayers. During this time of the festival, In Telangana, the newly married ones are invited to the house by the bride’s family and are offered gifts and sweets. On the ninth day of Navratri, that is the last day, students keep their books and all others clean and keep their tools to perform Ayudha Pooja for well-being and are then taken back on the tenth day of Vijayadashami. In Hyderabad, large idols of Goddess Durga Maa, after performing all the rituals and worshipping her with devotion for nine days, are immersed in watermarking the centre of attraction for the capital city.

You’ve probably heard that reading is good, but what about it is so special?

Whether we're talking about reading fiction or non-fiction- Why should you take the time to read?

Are these questions you keep asking yourself, well you're at the right place now.

1. READING HELPS WITH EMPATHY

Empathy is an important character trait people can develop. It helps us relate to other people and encourages us to be kind and considerate of other people’s feelings.

As it turns out, reading can help improve empathy.

When you read stories about other people’s lives, it helps you understand the world from another person’s perspective.

This is a key element in being empathetic toward others.

2. READING REDUCES STRESS AND HELPS YOU RELAX

Just letting yourself get lost in a good book is the greatest escape in the world. Scientifically reading releases dopamine that gives you a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. it gives you a sense of ease.

Reading can help lower stress levels. Not only that, but it can also help you sleep better at night.

3. READING STRENGTHENS THE BRAIN

Storylines in books often pose a problem or issue that leads to a solution. Identifying and sorting through these details and determining the outcome develops analytical skills in the process.

When you read something it ignites your neural pathways. That means new synapses are being created, and old ones are being strengthened. This improves your short-term and long-term memory functions.

4. READING INCREASES CREATIVITY

Reading sparks imagination and creativity, being immersed in a new world and characters. This will nurture your brain to develop ideas, possibilities, and understanding, and be more open to hearing the opinions of others. With so many genres of writing available, there’s something out there for everyone’s tastes- since the reader can use his or her imagination to develop the words into his or her mental images as opposed to being confined, this stimulates one's imagination

5. READING GROWS YOUR VOCABULARY

Last but definitely not the least- If you want to have an impressive vocabulary and become an amazing orator, pick up a book.

It’s much easier to learn vocabulary from a book than from memorizing words in the dictionary. That’s because you’re learning the words contextually. The words make sense within the context of what you’re reading so it makes it easier to remember later.

How to think in questions, not answers

A story of the moonshots project team at X

There is an anonymous team known as "Moonshots" trying to reach out to X says, to open our minds to what the future could be, we ask the outsiders “what ifs” all around X.

This is particularly important in the earliest stages, where the 100+ ideas they investigate every year have a <5% chance of seeing their 1-year or 2-year birthdays. But no matter what part of X they visit, we’ll see them following a trail of questions, hypotheses, and experiments, learning by iteration where a 10x better approach might be hiding — as it’s never obvious.

Some of their latest what-ifs?

1. What if you could read a plant like a book?

2. What if your pants could help you climb up the stairs?

3. What if all our plastic could be turned into anything we want?

4. What if understanding fish behaviour could make our seas healthier?

5. What if we could grow a building from a seed?

6. What if a swimming pool could power the entire planet?

What if these questions weren't just questions?

There’s no way of knowing how these ideas are going to turn out in the long run. But they fuel their optimism that leads to solutions to the world’s most unmanageable problems that are always within the reach of human imagination.

We may have recognized a few things, like the computational agriculture project: Mineral, the ocean health project: Tidal, or the mobility project: Smartypants. As for the more mysterious questions, they do refer to current X investigations and they hope to tell more about them as

"life at a moonshot factory involves far more questions than answers".

But living like this isn’t easy. Their brains crave certainty and clarity, and most professional environments train them better for delivering answers and short-term progress than for exploring huge questions and winding, risky roads. To find truly breakthrough ideas, they have to train themselves to break out of mental ruts and well-worn paths.

Here are a few of the helpful tricks X has found over the years to achieve this.

Try “question bursts”. Hal Gregersen, at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, has written the book on why brainstorming questions — rather than answers — works better for shifting perspective and opening up new possibilities.

We can learn how to do this by reading his excellent work and using his Question Burst Toolkit in our work or in life.

Host “bad idea brainstorms”. Want to turn down the volume of that little voice inside your head that makes you anxious about saying “silly” or “wrong” things?

Years ago, X’s Rapid Evaluation team, which comes up with new moonshot ideas, started holding “bad idea brainstorms” to help us to get comfortable, letting our nuttiest stuff flow freely. They've just launched an online game to help us do it too — try it and tell them on social media (via @theteamatx)

Prototype it. Meet Kathryn Zealand, head of the Smartypants project, she says it doesn’t matter how janky and duct-tape it is, as long as it helps you learn —everyone can prototype, even while working from home. Kathryn has even brought a prototyping, experimental mindset to her career.

One final point:

Don’t underestimate the power of naivete. In a speech last year, X’s Astro Teller told the Class of 2021, “You have a big advantage: you don’t already know the answers!” I know you’re thinking, “I’ve worked so hard to become an expert!”

But not knowing how things are “supposed to be” can actually be a secret superpower; our curiosity can lead us to questions that cast everything in a new light. So next time we're determined to take ourselves somewhere truly radical, we have to think about using great questions to blast us out of whatever’s preventing us from seeing a world of new possibilities.
"}]
The Puri Jagannath Temple is one of the most ancient and famous temples in India. Most importantly the Puri jagannath temple is known for its Chariot Festival that is celebrated every year. Thousands and Lakhs of devotees across the world visit this event. The Chariot is built every single year whereas the design, Size and materials used remain the same. The puri Jagannath temple is dedicated to three gods. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balaram and his sister Subhadra.

The temple has a magnificent structure and a well defined architecture. The temple construction was initiated by the King Chodagangadeva and was completed in the era of his Grandson Anangabhimadeva. The temple is not only a marvellous structure it also has certain architectural and science-defying mysteries that could not be proven till date of why they happen.

Let's find out about a few of the mysteries that are unsolved today.

1.Up Against Nature

Everyone knows and we see it in our lives very often that any piece of cloth flies with the direction of wind. But this place goes against these principles. The flag on the top of Puri temple always flies in the direction opposite to wind. And till date it cannot be proven why that happens.

2.Clear skies at all times

We can see flocks of birds or at least a few birds in the air at some point of the day. At Least one bird will fly across the sky. Puri temple has the clearest skies of all time. Not a single bird or aeroplane fly across this region. But we can see birds in the nearby regions except for the temple region. The reason for this is again unknown.

3.Man touches the sky

It is a tradition that is being followed since ages. Everyday a priest climbs up the walls of the temple that is almost the height of a 45 storied building to change the flag on the temple top. And the most surprising fact is anyone that goes up to change the flag goes with bare hands and no protective gear.

4. Pin Drop silence

The temple is situated alongside the sea. You can hear the gushing sounds of the clean, crisp and clear sea waves near the temple. But the moment you enter the temple premises it's as if the sea waves go on mute. Again the moment you step outside you can hear the sea waves again. The science behind this is still unknown.

5.Cookbook of magic

Devotees like the prashad that is served in this place very much. And guess what, it's cooked in a very unique style. 7 pots are placed on top of each other. According to what we generally know. The pot that is in the bottom will get cooked first. This cooking defies this law. The pot on the top gets cooked first, then the second pot and so on. And no one knows how that is even possible.

All these mysteries build a curiosity to visit this temple in me. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below and let us know your call on what the reasons could be.
"}]

The whole hiring process consists of 5 rounds

1. Online Test

2. Group Discussion

3. Managerial Round

4. Technical Interview

5. HR Interview

Round1:
The first round is an online test which consists of the following sections: all are MCQs(Except the coding section) conducted online.

a. General Aptitude

b. Data Interpretation

c. Logical Reasoning

d. Verbal Reasoning

e. Company Specific questions

f. Coding Section.

Tip 1- Practise Aptitude, reasoning and basic coding. Also, look for previous year's question models and be prepared.

300+ students from CSE and IT departments appeared for the test and out of them only 118 cleared the first round and attended the physical drive.

Round 2:
A fresh challenge for all the students is the group discussion round which is conducted offline in 8 panels with a group of 10 members and an HR person in each panel. Each group is given a topic such as “Impact of Covid-19 pandemic on education system” or “Hard work vs smart work”. This round is a nail-biting moment for people who have a phobia of speaking in front of a group.

Tip 2- They want the person who grabs the opportunity in a discussion and directs the flow of the discussion as per himself/herself. In a nutshell, if anyone shows a little dominating character in the discussion, then he/she will make it to the next round. Speaking loud and clear along with some arm gestures supporting your words will do the job.
However, 53 are shortlisted here and are sent to the next round.

Round 3:
It is a technical interview which is majorly Resume based and some questions asked here are:

1. Tell me about yourself

2. Projects you have done and their implementation.

3. MySQL queries which involve nested and subqueries.

4. Basic concepts of C, Java and python.

5. Basic programs like swapping 2 numbers, printing prime numbers, Fibonacci series, string manipulation and on arrays.

6. Html, Java Script, Linux Commands

7. Questions on prior knowledge of Cloud computing and AI

8. Skills mentioned in the resume and questions on key concepts of that particular technology.

Tip 3- Prepare thoroughly all the concepts of programming languages which are known to you and NEVER mention false information or additional skills or works which you have not known or done in your resume because that will fail you in this type of interview.
Here out of 53, only 24 cleared this interview round.

Round 4:
It is a managerial round which is an elimination round and where questions asked are:

1. Problems with Coding

2. Depth concepts of java like threads and collections

3. Aptitude, Reasoning

4. Logical questions

5. Questions on Personality traits

Tip 4- We can't expect the questions asked here, only our previous knowledge and managerial thinking will work. Our task is to simply be confident and be open in saying “I don't know” if you are unable to answer.
Out of 24, only 17 students made it to the final round.

Round 5:
In the HR round the interviewer will explain the company bond and license agreement etc. This is not an elimination round and they will ask some questions based on

Tip 5- Be prepared for the general HR questions and always be ready with some questions to ask at the end. It could be a deciding factor for your selection and NEVER ask “what is the job profile that this company offers ?" That question is supposed to be asked during the Pre-Placement Talk.

By the end of the day finally, all the 17 final selects from CSE and the IT department are offered with 6 LPA.

This year, you need to regain your sovereignty and show the world that you value yourself. This method is called ' walking away'.

txt
rich_1662575428954

Walking away seems rude, but sometimes it's a necessary measure to exert a sense of power over a situation. In a lifetime, you meet a variety of people. Some of these people have difficulties respecting others boundaries. Some of them are clingy and demand a great chunk of your time. Others are simply cruel assholes that seek to take advantage of people for their own gain. When you show these people that you're willing and able to remove yourself from their presence, it will not only send them a message that they do not own you, it will give you back control over your own faculty. The power of 'walking away' has two great companions: the word 'no' and direction.

txt
rich_1662575428955

If you often find yourself wasting your time to the whims of other people. If you're often being taken advantage of and used or even abused by them. It is very likely that you have difficulties saying 'no' and that you lack direction in life. The inability to say 'no' and absence of direction in life leads to you not standing firm.

txt
rich_1662575428956

If you're not standing firm, you're easily caught up in the affairs of other people. When you're committed to a goal, it shows you value your time and therefore your life. People will realise that you're spending your time in ways that are more important than serving them. Also, by keeping your eyes on the bail, its way easier to walk away from situations which people violate your boundaries or downright abuse you. This could be the case in regards to the workplace, marriage and even friendship.

txt
rich_1662575428957

Being tethered to your own path results in you caring less about the affairs of others. When you focus on yourself, you will not engage in needy, approval seeking behaviour because there is only one person, you have to prove yourself to: YOU.

It's time to beat evil in style!

Vijayadashami or commonly called as Dusshera is a festival according to Hindu Culture that is celebrated on the tenth day of the Navratri season. Dussehra is celebrated in different ways in different places throughout the Indian Subcontinent. It is celebrated to mark the win of good over evil. The original tale is said to be the win of Durga Maa over the demon Mahishasura. That is why she is also called Mahishasura Mardini.

When it comes to Dussehra we also think about Navratri. Navratri is a nine day long festival which occurs in the Sharada Month of the Hindu calendar, it usually falls in the month of September/ October.

Pandals are established to worship goddess Durga with heavy stage decorations, Lighting, recitals in the name of the goddess and pooja’s. In some places people conduct some fun activities and events that last the night.

And let's not forget this! What is the first thing that strikes our mind when we think of Navratri?

Ofcourse! It’s Dandiya. Who doesn't love to dress up in the traditional Navratri outfits and groove to the beats. I personally love to dance to garba with all the coordinated moves and steps.
