A virus, a dangerous one at that, has put all of our lives on a temporary standstill. But thinking about it makes me wonder if it is really so dangerous. Because a study (source unknown) says that more number of people die every year due to influenza, alcohol consumption, accidents and suicides each. So what’s the big deal about this one? Just a little more time and we’ll get used to living with the virus amongst us; all we need is stronger immunity towards it. Or maybe it isn’t so simple, you might say it obviously isn’t so simple or the government and others aren’t crazy to shut the world down. True that too.

txt

So let’s drop this topic because it’s scary and talk about something which all of us must’ve felt at one point or another during this lockdown. What would I have done if I was the leader of a country like ours, if I was responsible for decision-making? Would our country be running in the same way as it is today? That is for you to wonder, meanwhile let me do the honours and pour out my thoughts in front of you and let’s see if we think alike. So shall we start?

txt

Very well then, because running a country is not an easy job and depends on numerous factors, few of which we are all undeniably unaware of, let’s focus on a very common topic which is education and see where we land. Online classes, huh? Let’s see the pros and cons of it. Have you ever felt that if there was no attendance system, you would’ve been a freaking genius? Studying and researching all day, doing mad like stuff? Well we have it now, all we students have is time in our hands but it isn’t so simple. There’s always that one reason (rather excuse) that stops us, and we blame it (not complaining, even I do that). We are not used to this and maybe if I was a leader of the nation, I would’ve done something about it. Firstly, the education wouldn’t have been like this, teachers would’ve been friendly, the kind of people who are approachable in case of doubts, that’s how we get better, right? By asking questions. I would call for an emergency meeting with the education minister and tell him to find optimized solutions which could get the best results out of students during this lockdown. The faculty never gets time to talk about working of real things because he/she has the pressure of finishing the syllabus every semester. Now that we’ve got time, the education department should be taking advantage of it by conducting sessions and letting students explore guiding them on the path. Like I mentioned earlier, it could’ve been really easy if there wasn’t so much gap between the students and faculty. We should be eager and curious to go to them and enlighten ourselves but not get second thoughts and belittle them thinking they however wouldn’t know the answer. Why not give it a try? If one lecturer fails, the other would pass. At least one would, in a bunch of 5 professors for the same subject. This lockdown, I would just want to provide training to the faculty rather than getting too much and expecting loads from students. Let them do their job as students and learners, we’ll do our jobs as leaders and teachers by being learners. That’s all for now, we’ll talk about other issue some other day. Till then, Stay Home, Stay Safe!

txt
'Should reservation be removed?' 'Should reservation be kept?' 'Is reservation good?' 'Is it bad?' This is one debate that has survived the test of time. It still is a debate as heated as it was back in 1992, when it was implemented. But I am not here to debate on it. I am not here to tell you how reservation is good or bad. That is for each individual one of you to decide. I am just going to tell you how reservation has impacted individuals, sections of societies, and the classes that it claims to be helping. Also what alternative schemes of reservation could've been provided.

Now, reservation was brought by the V.P Singh led National Front Government in 1990. And after a stay order from the supreme court, it was finally implemented in 1992. Now, this was the biggest vote card that could've been played back then. But not every vote card works, why did this one work? This is because of the existing reservation back then. Surprised right? Let me explain. This was the reservation that the upper castes in most places around the country had implemented. Someone from the lower class cannot do a certain job, or should do a certain job only. They should not sit where generally the upper castes sit. They cannot visit temples when people from upper castes do, and many other such unsaid but very much implemented reservations. The lower classes weren't just neglected, but their individual existence in itself was suppressed. A person from the lower class would be judged not for what he can do, but what he is supposed to do, belonging from a certain class. And with this reservation scheme, these people got a hope to show that they existed, they mattered, and they could be present in positions that mattered. This also encouraged their parents who would earlier make their children drop out of schools to actually make them study, as they saw a possibility to make them reach a good position. Now not all of them would've reached good positions, in different sectors, but most of them would've got educated, about their rights, about their potential, about the choices they had.

But there cannot be a coin with only one face. While reservation did help the lower class move forward, it created other problems, and these problems have been coming up till now. Reservation developed a stigma in the hearts (against the lower class people) of even those upper class people, who earlier treated them with respect. Because they could see how the field was now skewed against them in terms of opportunities, restrictions etc. Because of this, people from the lower class who reached respectable positions never got the respect they deserved, they were rather disrespected with comments like 'are ye to quota waala hai, aata kuchh nhi, aise hi pahuch gya hai'. But it was not his fault that he got reservation. Anyone in his place presented with the same opportunity would've done the same. The reservation also greatly increased the scrutiny against the people of lower class present in responsible positions. Almost every mistake they made was blamed on how they got in through reservation, and so they don't know anything. Recently, a surgeon lost his patient in a surgery. It was a surgical mistake. Now this mistake could've been made by anyone, but since the surgeon belonged to lower class, news was made as to how he was not qualified enough, and how he did not even know the correct procedures, etc. It is however, sad to say that in some cases, this was indeed true. Very recently, IIT roorkee expelled 73 students from the college because of poor performance. Out of these, 69 students were found to belong from reserved category. It is clear that while they got in the institute because of the reservation they got, they could not cope up with the academic pressure. Now who should be blamed for it? The students? The institute? Or the reservation system? I leave it for you to decide. And this is just one incident, there are numerous others where people from lower class in positions of responsibility were found to be incapable of performing their duties efficiently. So is reservation bad? Or is the way it is implemented? Can there be a better implementation of reservation, which not only benefits the lower class but also keeps the merit competition alive?

What if instead of providing reservation to the lower class, the government gave monetary help to all the people of every class who are not able to afford the education of their children, and this monetary help should not only be provided for school or college education, instead it should be provided for whatever training the student wants to go through, for example, let's say a student wants to go in the field of music, he should be provided with help to take admission in a proper musical training institute, and reservation of all other type should be removed. This will help the students to move forward in the field they actually want to rather than the field in which they can. Now some people would say that this would take a lot of money and would not be feasible. This is true, but it should be understood that this investment will have to be made only for 1 generation, because then the already educated people would be able to afford their children's education, and even if some can't, the number will keep decreasing. Could this be a better form of reservation? Maybe. Maybe not.

But given the present scenario, and how every party is trying to leverage the reservation topic to gain votes, instead of trying to actually help people, it can be said that the present reservation system is still going to last a long time. We might see some amends, but eradication of this reservation system is not going to happen anytime soon.
"}]
"Why the Indian economy can fare better despite COVID-19"

Lockdown in India is more disastrous for human welfare and economies since there is no help for small businesses nor are there unemployment benefits. In countries such as India, with young demographics, such a lockdown causes more human suffering that Covid-19 itself. This continuing lockdown is, unfortunately, making it ever more inevitable that India will suffer a consumer lending cycle due to lockdown.

How hard has the economy been hit?

The pandemic has pushed the global economy into a recession, which means the economy starts shrinking and growth stops.
In the US, COVID-19-related disruptions have led to millions filing for unemployment benefits. In April alone, the figures were at 20.5 million, and are expected to rise as the impact of the pandemic on the US labor market worsens. As per a Reuters report, since March 21, more than 36 million have filed for unemployment benefits, which is almost a quarter of the working-age population. Coronavirus (COVID-19) and global growth

The IMF’s estimate of the global economy growing at -3 percent in 2020 is an outcome “far worse” than the 2009 global financial crises. Economies such as the US, Japan, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain are expected to contract this year by 5.9, 5.2, 6.5, 7, 7.2, 9.1, and 8 percent respectively.
Advanced economies have been hit harder, and together they are expected to grow by -6 percent in 2020. Emerging markets and developing economies are expected to contract by -1 percent. If China is excluded from this pool of countries, the growth rate for 2020 is expected to be -2.2 percent.

China’s GDP dropped by 36.6 percent in the first quarter of 2020, while South Korea’s output fell by 5.5 percent since the country didn’t impose a lockdown but followed a strategy of aggressive testing, contact tracing and quarantining.
In Europe, the GDPs of France, Spain, and Italy fell by 21.3, 19.2, and 17.5 percent respectively.

An ideal way to combat a contagious virus that spreads rapidly is to stay at home, maintaining social distance, not going out of the house for unnecessary things, wearing masks, washing hands frequently, not touching your face, and if feeling sick immediately contact doctor.
Due to lockdown, poor people will not get money as they get daily wages when they work, but at this situation there will be no work and hence no money. Many small scale industries were also badly affected due to these viruses. The government should take care of these people. Due to this lockdown, even the Indian economy also affected very badly, to overcome this situation people should work from home if that is not possible people should maintain social distance, wear masks while they are outside.
India fights corona and in few more weeks, everything should become alright.

Your's in exasperation...! - shiri

txt
The current pandemic crisis of COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 strain of coronaviruses throws light on something much greater than the immediate crisis of tackling the disease i.e. the lack of preparation by major nations in tackling the situation. While many nations are left scratching their heads in this critical time, there have also been success stories like those of Taiwan, Japan, Slovenia and many more. Without taking names, many countries even had ample time to prepare for the outbreak and prior knowledge yet chose to look the other way, underestimating the threat at the doorstep. All this just goes on to prove the old adage right, time and time again- “a stitch in time saves nine.”

In populous countries like India having a wide range of socio-economical classes, an outbreak, like just about any other calamity serves to be the most punishing for the people in the lower rung of the society. Having minimal access to financial and other means, struggling to make ends meet and managing to arrange for a mere day’s meal, the restrictions imposed in such critical times and the suffering from the situations only get amplified many folds further. The plight isn’t restricted to just these people though, people from medium income groups, those having health complications, people with pets or other dependants, each one has a plight in some form or the other.

But what can be done to avert such a scenario, one that is here spreading havoc in some countries whereas has been conquered for the time being in others. The first solution that may come to mind, one that is at the tip of everyone’s tongue would be lockdown and social distancing. It should be noted that social distancing and imposing lockdowns are crucial for controlling the spread of diseases, but they alone can’t hope to achieve much. The most they can do, especially for a virus that has rapid mutations, is buy time. Buy time for solidifying the country’s preparedness in tackling cases. Apart from initiating clinical trials, the focus should be made on increasing the medical capabilities and treating capacity, number of beds et al. The buffer time from lockdowns can make or break the future of the country.

Another critical responsibility is of the government itself. Again, not taking names, governments of many states as well as countries have opted to keep the number of cases, deaths, other related statistics, data and information under wraps, not revealing them to the public and misrepresenting facts. However, all this does is induce public mistrust, spread misinformation and fake news and handicaps the ability to prepare for and treat the cases further. Instead one common feature among the successful countries are sharing the relevant information of concern with the public daily, keeping them in the loop so they have an idea of the current situation.

As much as the government wants to impose forceful lockdowns which are indeed effective, efforts should be also made to sensitise the public about the need for such measures and what they hope to achieve and can achieve with these. This will also help to pacify the people. One instance of imposing lockdown in Lombardy, Italy without prior notice resulted in thousands fleeing on the night the lockdown was imposed due to information leak. People fleeing Lombardy to rest of Italy ensured utter chaos, digging its own grave, quite literally. So there is much need for trustful and effective communication as well as taking prior measures so as to handle the situation arising from lockdowns. Let’s take an example from India itself. With the sudden imposition of nation-wide lockdown while being vastly unprepared to handle the repercussions, countless migrant workers, labourers and many more have died from vastly different causes rather than the disease itself. Inability to provide shelter and feed them along with the ever-present plague of bureaucracy, corruption and inefficiencies in almost every aspect has rendered the Indian administration useless from being able to successfully aiding these people.

Prioritisation and proper allocation of resources is yet another blaring case that demands attention. While doctors are working overnight without appropriate safety gears and the government claims inability to arrange army jets to move bodies of deceased jawans and others as well as lack of funding to hospitals, yet the government still manages to arrange lakhs and crores of rupees for army jets to fly and shower flowers over hospitals in a show of gratitude. While holding shows of gratitude as has been done such as banging plates and lighting candles are constructive in maintaining public morale and thanking the frontline workers, funds that can actually help them are instead used for other fruitless efforts that show sheer wastage from no prioritisation and planning.

Even the police needs to be sensitised in implementing these lockdowns as there has been many instances of huge public gathering where the police has done nothing and there have been instances where the police beat up vendors and other with proper permits or stop doctors from going to hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs. Sensitising the ground workers and making them understand how to do their job should be a must so that they’re aware of how and what actions to take that are appropriate.

While there are countless other measures that can and should be implemented such as providing necessities, developing public healthcare systems, travel and border controls, isolation and quarantine and many more, one must measure is community engagement. Communities are the main actors in preventing, identifying, responding and recovering from the impacts of epidemics and pandemics. Engaging communities raising awareness of the disease and its spread, building trust and relationships with them and helping them adopt preventive measures can be the difference between a slowdown and prevention or further spreading.

Till now, we’ve discussed various ways to curtail the outbreaks of diseases. But we should understand that if a disease of this level has us scratching our heads, we’re grossly unprepared for more severe and virulent cases.

"}]

Thousands of migrant labourers are returning home from different cities and towns, because workplaces are closed.Simultaneously, the number of people affected by COVID-19 is increasing, as are deaths, though absolute numbers are still low.

While these are extraordinary times, the State must provide basic needs such as food, shelter, generous treatment and timely send them back home.

Allow People To Return Home

The central government has done a remarkable job in bringing back hundreds of students and other Indian citizens in foreign lands who are in helpless position, with due precautions to ensure that they do not become carriers and spreadng agents of the virus in the country.

Having done that, we cannot leave behind labourers and migrant workers on our highways to defend for themselves, when all shops, organizations and services are closed.

This will create a crisis that may be worse than the one we seek to fight, as we try to defend the COVID-19 pandemic. In view of difficulties faced by these thousands of internal migrants, and the fact that, as many scientists have warned, the transmission of the virus is unlikely to stop anytime soon, the Central and state governments must make arrangements to bring them home safely.

Expand Testing

The number of people currently being tested is small, while the number under lockdown is huge. While providing a interval for a short period, this is not sustainable, and as many experts have pointed out, may lead to rise again after the lockdown is relaxed. We need to progressively reverse this situation: Have much more expanded testing with severe promotion of social distancing and fewer people under lockdown. Currently, only about 100 laboratories, almost all located in large cities, provide testing facilities for COVID-19.

Strengthen Primary Health Care(PHC)

We need to prepare ahead to provide health care to large numbers of patients requiring it. As revealed by a review of about 160,000 patients from China and Italy, 90-95 per cent of patients would be managed at home or in primary care settings, and only 5-10 per cent would require in-patient care. Of the latest information, about 30 per cent would require critical care, while 70 per cent would require supportive care and oxygen. Even in the best of health systems, the mortality rate among those who require critical care is upwards of 50 per cent. So, it is clear that primary care would be extremely critical in providing care to and preventing deaths of large numbers of patients through providing supportive care and oxygen.

txt
Thursday

Brijmohan Das, 78, a retired professor of Geology, lying on his bed in ICU, unconscious, at least what doctors believed. Unfortunately, he was unable to move, but somehow, he was connected-through his sub-consciousness to the outside galleria of his family and doctors; and wondering how trying to pull up the cords of his family together but in the end, noticing all the beads had fallen apart and scattered. It was that time on the bed when he finally reviewed his life 50 years back.

All he could hear now was distant chats of the doctors, untimely wailing nurses, his younger son shouting at times, and intermittent blips of the strange equipment bugged to him. Amidst this noise, he drifted to time five decades ago.

He witnesses through all those years in a flash; the birth of his children; Dheeraj, Anita and Bhaskar, their jobs and marriage, death of his lovely Wife, feuds between his two daughters-in-law over petty issues and his consoling solution for them, & how his sons were becoming puppets of their ‘Missus.’

He tried everything to balance things out between the two sons and their ladies, but they remained on the edge of the tight rope as ever. Taking care of their parents was getting a troublesome affair for their children. The elder son opted for caring for the mother, while Brijmohan was in a younger’s bag. Brijmohan smirked with a thought about how he took care of his kids in his only income and how the income house of 4 found it difficult to bear the caretaking of 2 old parents. He witnessed the partition of his “home” into “2 houses”. At that time, the only thing he could think of was where he missed out on his sons' caretaking that now he himself felt like an unwanted entity among them.

Midway his memories, the sound of his lovely daughter Anita brought him back to the present.

‘Since when is he unconscious?’ asked Anita.

‘About two days. Doctors said that as soon as he recovers, he must be shifted to Delhi for better Medicare’, answered Bhaskar with a lost hope look on his face.

‘And where is bhaiya? Does he even know about it?’

‘ He must be knowing. We live in the same house. There is no need to print an invitation to invite him,’ answered Bhaskar irritatingly.

‘Ah….you and your petty issues. Let me make a call.’ Anita said, putting an end to a pointless conversation.

Meanwhile, in his thoughts, Brijmohan wondered, how simplified and tender was her daughter. She shared the same morals as taught to his two sons by them, then how she glittered, and the two remained dull. Maybe he knew the answers within but reluctant to believe.

‘He said it’s normal for father and kept on insisting that he will be okay without even knowing the scenario,’ said Anita with a surprised look on her face.

‘This was a kind of response I was expecting,’ Bhaskar said with a grimace.

‘He said he would be visiting as soon as he gets time,’ Anita said, still trying to find hope with her elder brother.

‘I know he won’t show up. Father is my responsibility, so he doesn’t want anyhow to be attached to this scene’, said Bhaskar initiating the blame game.

‘Could you just shut up for some time and keep aside your complaints’ yelled Anita to his younger brother.

Friday

Brijmohan came to senses the coming day, more of delighted to see his daughter standby his side, wished to speak many words, but was restricted by his weakness. Anita tried her level best to improve her father’s condition, in order to shift him to Delhi, but the doctors didn’t see any positive signs. They suggested that it would be better to take him to Delhi in the given time they have as keeping him over there won’t bless him with more days to live.

‘I think we must start now only. Even the doctors here have surrendered. I can’t afford to leave him here’, said a disappointed Anita.

‘I suggest we let him stay here. Why causing him trouble for such a long journey? Let him have peace in his last days’, popped Bhaskar with his ideas.

‘Are you insane? How could you even think of this? Taking away even the slightest of a chance of keeping him alive’ ‘said Anita with a furious flare in her eyes against his brother.

‘I am just saying that his chances of survival on the journey are minimal,’ Bhaskar said, still defending his point.

‘And even less are the chances with these hopeless doctors.’ ‘See, if you don’t wish to co-operate, I’m doing this on my own. Afterward, you can play your shitty blame-game on me, but now, we are taking whatever limited chances we have’, said Anita with a strange firmness in her tone.

The strength Anita possessed at that time made Bhaskar nod to her decision, as anyone would have done given the strict dialect she possessed.

Dheeraj was also informed about this, and as expected, he said he would be there asap. He asked not to take his father anywhere till he arrived.

Tanvi, Bhaskar’s Wife, sensed the moment. She slid a blank paper in his husband’s hand and asked him to get the thumb impression of her father-in-law. Bhaskar knew that his father would not do any such given the ignorance he has shown in the past few weeks towards him. So he decided to ask his elder sister to get it done.

‘Don’t you have an inch of shame in stock within you? Shamelessly asking me to do such cheap things,’ said Anita, slamming away Bhaskar’s demands.

‘But I just thought,’ continued Bhaskar in a liquefied tone.

‘I plead you, don’t do such things. Anyhow these things are going to be yours. Why do you need the official confirmation?’ Anita broke down as she said these words, thinking how drastically things have worsened.

They waited for Dheeraj to show up till Anita’s patience lasted. They left for Delhi without seeking his approval.

Dheeraj, knowing that they had left without seeking his opinion, was more infuriated than ever.

Post reaching Delhi, under treatment, Brijmohan survived for another couple of days till he departed for heavenly abode.

Left all aside was a daughter, kept on crying the whole day by his father. Two sons, tainted in greedy ideas and their own cobwebs, who forgot their duties as sons, and a soul, departed away, finally opting for a balanced pathway.

It was the stinging fact that the ethics and values he imparted to his sons were superseded by the minds of their mistress and passive greed, stung more viciously than the disease within.
"}]
The Corona virus outbreak, first unmasked in China, has infected people in 185 countries. Its spread has left businesses around the world counting the costs.

It all started in Wuhan, China of December 2019 and the virus spreading like a wildfire within the following months, the global economy(indirectly effecting the national economy of almost every country) has taken a huge hit right through the ribs from the beginning of the year 2020, started off with Oil prices plummeting to such low since decades (went negative in the US, and other countries as well) to a potential recession in the coming future, all on account of the Lockdown put on the streets to prevent spreading of the deadly virus.

Although the initial statistics of WHO showed the fatality rate from this virus was just 2% who were infected, the recklessness and carelessness of individuals, societies and governments contributed a large number countering the 2% rate to a far higher figure just in its initial stages of the spread of COVID-19 .

India being a nation that was effected very late with respect to other nations among the world, roughly in the early March of 2020 had plethora of time on hand to watch, learn and judge the outcomes of the pandemic hit nations by that time and pertaining to this situation, it does look like the government has done its homework rigorously to keep the virus spreading to the minimal and preventing it spread further.

In my eye, the government has made some right choices in facing the ongoing pandemic situation by stringent lockdown with periodic extensions but it could have taken a few slight changes to ameliorate the current scenario.

To be honest, I would do nothing much fancy or too much fussing up with the policies put by the government but to revise the lockdown rules pertaining to a certain area and state with the knowledge of the frequency of cases and tests running and moderate or intensify accordingly so as to hold the ground of economy before it shatters completely at least in that area, hence recovering the economy but in a very cautious way(this may seem like the red, orange, green zones but it is slightly different!? ).

What I am trying to say may seem to be understood that we need to save economy first; we can save the lives later. This is a false split. Saving the economy necessarily saves lives and vice-versa. As I see it the policy-makers need to analyze the impact of the lockdown on health of the public and compare outcomes with similar ones for the outbreak.

Therefore, I might say that the trade-off is between saving lives from COVID versus the lives lost due to the drop in economic activity across all the businesses suspended by the Lockdowns.
Many countries have dealt with the epidemic in many different ways, but some have a striking difference compared to other countries ,as in the case of Sweden and The United Kingdom have left it to the people to voluntarily self isolate and quarantine as per requirement to its citizens and have not adhered to the complete strict lockdown policies like every other country, ofcourse this method does not fit every country having its reasons, but they have definitely went through the road not taken with a successful outcome, in comparison to many countries with the 100% lockdown scenes.
The former doesn’t apply to a country like ours due to many a valid reason that are obvious and so what I would prefer doing is to vary the intensity of the lockdown across country and across regions within the states as well. The economic activity needs to restart, albeit cautiously. The existing government does exhibit this intent with stringent restrictions across the different zones. Through a careful data-driven and extremely analyzed and sustainable policy approach, we hope that we can save both lives and the economy (oops! lives).
"}]
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, born on 28 May 1923, can only be described as one of the most influential actors of the Telugu Film Industry for most of the 20th century, his legacy endures to this day with fans all over the two states remembering him fondly. From winning three national awards, to Nandi awards and going on to become a Chief Minister for Andhra Pradesh, the luminary has enjoyed a fantastic career of both film and politics. On his birth anniversary, let us take a look back at NT Rama Rao's best works as an actor.

1. Gundamma Katha (1962)

Adapted from a Shakespeare play titled The Taming of the Shrew, this movie was shot when NTR's fame seemed unstoppable, along with fellow veteran actor ANR in leading roles. It was one of the earliest movies to showcase NTR's acting prowess as an arrogant man

2. Raktha Sambandham (1962)

Directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao, this movie was earlier offered to ANR, who rejected it for personal reasons. The movie subsequently was offered to NTR, the role of an elder brother, with Savitri playing the sister. The movie was extremely successful and the rest is history.

3. Missamma (1955)

Six short years after his debut, NTR bagged a role in the hilarious and fondly remembered Missamma, which was fantastic in portraying the job market of a post independence India. 4. Maaya Bazaar (1957)

Marking NTR's first role on screen as a mythological character, Maaya Bazaar is one of the greatest Telugu movies ever made, with a star studded cast of now industry giants and NTR playing the role of Lord Krishna. This is one of those movies that is forever remembered as the greatest of all time, and if you aren't into old Telugu movies, you must have heard your elders speak about this movie with reverence.

5. Badi Panthulu (1972)

Unconventional as NTR's usual larger than life roles go, Badi Panthulu was an abject reality check about the state of parents who are left to fend for themselves in their old age by off springs. NTR plays the role of a school teacher, as the name implies, and his wife played by Anjali Devi are neglected by their own children but his students keep in touch and are extremely fond of him. Interesting fact to note, this was actress Sri Devi's first movie, she plays NTR's granddaughter in the movie.

6. Nippu Lanti Manishi (1974)

The 70s are famous in Indian cinema for being the era of the angry young men, growing increasingly disillusioned by the corruption around them, the lack of jobs and government apathy in general, NTR's Nippu Lanti Manishi taps into this fury with his role as a cop. While critics may argue that he wasn't made to play the angry young man, NTR more than made up with his charisma.

7. Yamagola (1977)

8. Justice Chowdary (1982)

9. Pelli Chesi Chudu (1952)

A social satire, and that too a few years after his debut, NTR proved his mettle as a subtle actor in a satirical take on the dowry system in India and how it affects life after marriage. It is just as relevant today as it was in 1952, a sad reality of today's India.
