Les brown is one of the world's foremost motivational speakers and thought leaders on self-improvement and goal-setting. However, it wasn't always that way for him. Born in Liberty City, Miami on the floor of an abandoned building, he has known struggle and hardship his entire life.Academically, Les was a struggling student from the get-go. The story goes that during his school days he was labelled "educable mentally handicapped" by the academic intelligentsia of his day and placed back from 6th grade to 5th grade. To make matters worse, he had a twin brother who was exceptionally bright and gifted, and as such Les became commonly referred to by his peers as the "DT"—the "dumb twin."
One day a teacher asked him to come up and solve a problem on the chalkboard, but Les refused and said that he couldn't. "Of course you can," the teacher responded encouragingly. "Young man, come up here and solve this problem for me."
"But I can't," insisted Les. "I'm educable mentally handicapped." The rest of the class erupted in laughter. At that point, the teacher stepped out from behind his desk and looked Les straight in the eye. "Don't ever say that again," he told him firmly. "Someone else's opinion of you does not have to become your reality."Les never forgot those words, and spent the rest of his life overcoming incredible odds and pursuing his goals with passion and fervour. Time and time again, thanks to that one teacher's powerful revelation.

txt
How many of you still remember the infamous lie that you were fed during your childhood? The lie which said that you were born because your parents prayed for you and God graciously dropped you down the sky. It's both funny and scary to see our older generations and some of us still looking at the conversations involving the word 'sex' as a taboo. There are tons of myths around 'sex' that still haven't been busted to more than half the country's adolescent/teenage population. There's almost whole of the country's child population not knowing the basics of 'good touch' and 'bad touch' because their parents couldn't walk out of the embarrassment that this talk apparently causes.

Sex education doesn't consist of sexual needs or birth control methods alone, it primarily deals with the psychological and physiological developments in the human body which growing children must comprehend with, in a healthy manner. It also talks about the way of identifying with one's own gender.

Parents and Teachers must normalize the stigma around these discussions since the kids can rely on the wrong information because of the access to the right information being denied. This could result in major unwanted consequences. The alarming rate at which teen pregnancies are shooting up in the country are nothing new. Teenagers must be briefed up in the right way about having sex, what causes pregnancies and what purpose do contraceptives serve.

The basic purpose of sex education is to let the children know as to why men and women have different biological bodies and why the way they behave differs in accordance with their bodies, at different ages. They must be thoroughly aware about the biological processes that occur with age in their own gender and also in the opposite gender, since they must learn and be sensible towards each other's body and must be informed enough to take the right decisions regarding their own body. In case of abnormalities or emergencies, they must know not to panic/resort to drastic activities. Instead, they must immediately consult a trusted elder who can help them out of it.

Children who would be entering into their reproductive years must be taught about their body's needs- both physical and emotional. Many children experience sexual abuse but never actually comprehend with the fact that they have been sexually abused because they're that unaware and ignorant. Sexual abuse can come from any sphere of their life: people who hold more power than the children can force them into unwanted sexual advances, people extremely close to them could manipulate them into unwillingly agreeing for intercourse. Being unacquainted with sex education can result in the kids not knowing what they're getting into. Thus, it results in them never speaking up about it.

Elders must be honest, open-minded and sensitive with their children/adolescents in everything that they reveal. They can try and talk to their children as to how do the children feel about having intimate relationships: sexual/platonic. The children must be informed about genital hygiene and the ways through which STDs or any other diseases related to reproductive health can spread. The parents/elders must assure their children that they can be trusted and that their children can come up to them when in doubt, to talk things out.

The main role that sex education plays is to create sensitivity in today's children to ensure that they grow up to be broad-minded individuals with respect for everybody. Thus, topics like homosexuality, sexual abuse and consensual sex/pre-marital sex must be dealt with utmost care.

I came across an interesting article when I was casually browsing over the weekend. That article spoke about how engineering colleges are actually places where students get to discover themselves and discover their potential in an avenue that perhaps has got nothing to do with the engineering course that they're pursuing. In something that seems like a twisted corollary of the used-to-death meme that says "in India people do engineering first and then decide what to do with their lives", engineering colleges actually provide a much needed breathing space for students to try new things, without the pressures of preparing for entrance exams or any such as parents/family usually are relieved once the student secures a seat.

txt
rich_1569238630563

As my thought process was running like this, I ended up reminiscing about what I did during my college years, almost a decade ago and I tried to think of how the above passage was related to my life. In one of my older blogs, I wrote on how I took part in several paper presentation competitions and won several times, even when I was pitted against candidates from premier institutions like IITs and NITs. I was reminded of those when I was thinking about this blog. I was studying Electrical Engineering so I presented a paper on utilising waste water treatment to produce electricity, through the usage of a microbial fuel cell.
Presenting that paper triggered a different thought process within me, I realised I had to not only acquire the knowledge necessary about that but I also had to learn how to speak on a public platform, how my diction should be, how I manage my time and more. Now as I look back, it was those paper presentations that paved way for me to be the speaker that I am today and it was my engineering course that gave me the time and the opportunity to do it.
I urge students now to do the same and utilise the time in college to figure out what they love doing and what it takes to make sure they acquire the skills to do what they want to do. Be curious, explore as much as you can. You can either be dormant and just be in your dorm and not do anything else or you can be active and curious and do what it takes to figure out what you want to do and succeed. An easy way for that is to take up online courses, utilise platforms like stuMagz to write, to share photographs, to share videos and more, if you are among the creative ones, utilise stuMagz to take part in competitions, quizzes and more if you are among the analytical ones.
Make sure you do something, make yourself a name and make yourself a career through the four years of college!
"}]

Saandh ki Aankh is a true story of two old ladies who are inspiration to the modern generation. It is true story of chandro tomar and prakashi tomar, both of them are nicknamed as shooter dadi. They broke out of their cage, at 60 they rose above their age, with almost 700 medals they became a rage. As the tagline of the film depicts that "tann Budha hota hai, Mann Budha nahi hota". Before 1998, Johri village in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh was just like any other village in India. But during this time something extraordinary started, which took this village to national and international levels of success and fame. As a result of which this village had become an inspiring example for the entire nation. At the age of 50 they picked up a gun for the sake of their daughters in the hopes of encouraging them towards a bright future. They did not want their daughters to share the same fate of a lifetime of suppression. What unfolded was nothing short of miraculous. They discovered their own skill of being exceptional shooters.
Despite all the odds, they won 352 medals each in the course of their veteran professional life as a shooter.
Now we have this wonderful opportunity to witness this wonderful story on silver screen. So big thank to Tapsee Pannu and bhumi pednakar who came forward to play this challenging roles of chandro and prakashi tomar and thank to Reliance Entertainment & Anurag Kashyap as they presents us
In Association with Chalk and Cheese Films
“Saand Ki Aankh.... Summer of 2015, done with my 10th boards. I was busy daydreaming of becoming an Architect because it was the only field that had common interests of mine (the creative art and craft) and my father's (the safe scope involved in the field, because he's the one who was supposed to pay my fees). On the suggestion of my bossy sibling (Ugh), I went ahead and explored a bit of the field.

Smart cities are the cities that work on improvising themselves to function more efficiently. Technology acts as an amazing catalyst in the process. Especially, to collect the data on consumer services, traveling and mobility information, the infrastructure, weather conditions and a lot more that affect each place to make it livable for people or to establish a business et-cetera.

Since the past 2 decades, people worldwide, are aiming at making their city smart because of the advantages it has. There's easier access to almost any service.

While the Architects and Civil Engineers are pondering over ideas to create more smart cities, it has occurred to me that, as we go on, our population is increasing (at an absurd rate honestly) and any changes they make to the cities become the foundations of the future generations' lives.

For example, Navi Mumbai has been one of the cities, selected for this mission. So to make it a Smart City, a lot of work goes into it. The structure of Mumbai and the placing of buildings and their division (into residential areas, tourist attractions, business purposes etc., based on the conditions of the places) is carefully planned. Once it is planned and implemented, it is most likely that there will be flats on top of flats to enable living and working spaces for more people in future.

One day, if they find a mistake or a trouble, it might not be easier to change it because of all the settlement that has happened.

Now that they are planning it for many cities, I feel it is very important to keep the environment in mind, no matter which kind of place it might be. Now that there is awareness about climate change, it would be a great idea to include farming and gardening in Smart cities, even if it is on building tops, in case no space on ground can be accommodated.

More Eco-friendly techniques such as, solar panels (which could be subsidized by the government), water conservation systems automatically attached in the buildings or at least a common system for the entire community, management of plastic could be included while Smart cities are planned.

It is a small change that could save us from a lot of difficulty in the future and makes it a better place to live.
"}]
Music is life. That's why our hearts have beats.

Dream it, Believe it, Be it says the Justin Beiber of our college. Bobby of 3rd year from the Ece department is well known for his music. No one can stop themselves from swinging to his beats. He is making everyone fall in love with his voice.

It all started when I was in my 4th standard he recalls. His mother took him to the singing classes actually to join his sister but the teacher noticed his talent and took personal interest to teach him music for free without any expense. He started learning off with Carnatic music as his mother was also into the same.

But his mind drove him to western music and so he learned guitar and certified up to 5 grades in it. And now his greatest inspiration is the Canadian singer Justin Beiber. He also learned western vocals and he's more of a pop singer. He actually wanted to build his career towards music but as insisted by his parents his point of interest is on education right now but music is his part and parcel of life and once he completes his graduation he would surely work towards his passion.

Instead, he is the president of our music club and is the center of attraction for any event that goes on in and around our college. He was among the top 5 in the competition held by the SRM University in solo performance. He along with his band has presented many concerts in various colleges and is now tied up with an organization that would give him even more opportunities to showcase his worth and talent.

There are 3 main reasons for him to choose singing, firstly he loves it, secondly, he wants to earn more money in order to serve the poor by his hard-earned money and that last one is to gain a recognition that simply means he wants to be remembered by the people even after his death as a great singer.

Wishing him all the success to achieve his dream!!!
"}]
“Yeah stop stop your’re going to take someone’s eye besides your saying it wrong ,it’s Leviosa` not Leviosawww..”
Yea yea….How can someone forget these lines of Hermione, I am damn sure that your mind might have some flashes of Harry Potter series and definitely the theme song ….Oh My God!!!! The simplicity ,the stillness in the music ,the intensity, the hidden mystery behind the music it’s just beyond awesomeness….it still gives me goosebumps .

So basically every child have their own world of dreams, fantasies and every child belives in miracles ,magic or an apt word would be mythology, it might be because our elders belived them and passed them on through stories and I was that kind of child who would belive these stuffs….I always fascinated Harry’s world . I desperately wanted to own a wand so that I could makes objects fly and grab objects which are far away. You know what I still want a Nimbus 2000,which Harry got himself from Prof. McGonagall and more than these, I always wanted a full time fun school which is full of magic which would have subject like devination, protions ,quidditch and the most important thing is I could learn MAGIC!!!

Not only features of the magic world but characters of Harry Potter series.
I love Hermione, because she is different in her own kind, she neither liked sports nor fashion. she was the smartest wizard of her age, she’s responsible and she could do anything for the sake of justice and fairness. The best thing in Hermione is that she doesn’t change herself to please someone.

One thing was clear that Hermione was the ultimate role model for all the girls, besides there was one character I loved better , The fiery Ginny Weasley. she was shy girl who had crush on “The boy who lived”, but at the end of series the real Ginny!!! she was stubborn, brave, strong who is equal to Harry Potter. She was there when Harry was having his hard times, she never really gave up on him.

The other character which I loved was Luna Lovegood – she was frank and unique ,she was indifferent ,she have totally different fashion sense….she don’t give damn what anyone thinks of her.

And guys I will suggest your to read books ,there are many things that you would not know mere seeing movies…like you would not know about Teddy Tonks, you would not know about winky and her struggle, that Neville’s parents are alive and in St. Mungo’s , you would know the whole story behind Snape, you would not know who Peeves is and how important he was, you would not know what Dudley’s last words to Harry were.

Finally I would say be brave as Harry, the boy who lived; as smart as Hermione, the girl who knew; as loyal as Ron, the boy who loved; as determined as Neville, the boy who grew; as strong as Ginny, the girl who fought and as unique as Luna, the girl who belived.

I wish Harry Potter was real , I will never forgive J.K.Rowling for introducing me a world which is not real but it is said that “The stories we love best do live in us forever..”
Goshh!!!!!this is going to be difficult , I could write pages together there is no such thigh that I hate about Harry Potter every inch is noted. i cant still feel the same magic as begining

It was midnight 2 O’clock. A cab was waiting outside our hostel gate to pick me up. As I got down the stairs as slowly as I could lest I would get caught, a series of memories flashed before me. I recollected the day I entered into the college premises, high of spirit and with the zeal to crack the JEE. My mom praising me, encouraging and motivating me to fulfill my dream. My relatives, my friends and even my school Principal whom I always feared, talking of the future they assume to have already seen and believing that it was supposed to happen. Then a phone call from my cab driver brought me back to this world. I was suddenly alerted. I checked my bag and belongings, I read the letter that I wrote the previous night, for my fellow roommates and the whole college, opened the door and left. While I was in the car, I went back into my thoughts. I was loved, cared and respected by every single person in the college. The first few weeks appeared to be a bliss. My constant top scores, the fun that I had with my friends, the silly jokes and last but not the least, the belief that ‘I can do’ and ‘I will do’. When I recollected all this, even then, at that moment, I doubted whether I was doing the right thing. But the very next moment, the discrimination that I had been facing since past one month, the rude words of our Principal, the insult, the fault accusation made by my friends on me, the treatment that I face in my college at present, all flashed before me. I then made firm decision that whatever I was doing was absolutely right. There is no space for second thoughts. By the time I came out of my thoughts, I was in train that was supposed to take me to everyone’s dream city ‘Mumbai’. I was planning to begin a business. I contacted my senior at school the other day who runs a boutique. I wanted to work with her and simultaneously pursue a fashion designing course. My low scores in week tests at college in the second year, the constant humiliation from our Principal, the insulting and sarcastic looks of my so-called friends, have made me realise that I do not have the capability to get into the IIT’s or NIT’s to pursue engineering. And as I have no interest in doing engineering in other universities or colleges other than these, I now move on to my other field of interest, Fashion designing, and wish to excel atleast in this field. The most disappointing thing is that even my mom feels that I do not have the capability to achieve a seat in the IIT’s. I want to show her that I may not be that good at maths and science, but I am surely good at fashion designing.
I reached Mumbai, I met my friend and we enjoyed the whole day. We were supposed to begin our work from next day. As the night came, I could feel my heart becoming heavier and heavier. I was unable to sleep. Tears rolled down my eyes. I controlled myself and prayed to God. The next day, we got ready and were about to leave for the boutique. Just then a maiden came and fell on my friend’s feet and began crying. She said this way -
Amma, my son is missing. He left a letter stating that he would return home only after becoming a great businessman. It would take five years, ten years or more. But until then we should not think of him, miss him, or try to contact him. Amma, I cannot live without him. I don’t mind if he does not get good marks are get a good job. But I want him. Please, amma do something and find him. I cannot live without him.
She wept for about half an hour. Seeing her weeping, I could not control myself and cried to my heart’s content. I wondered if my mother would also be crying the same way reading the letter I had left in the hostel. . I longed to go back. Just then, a newspaper boy threw a newspaper into the house. I could see someone’s photo in the front page posted by some college. I took it to see. I was shocked to see that it was not anyone else’s but mine. I had topped the state in intermediate first year. I was such a fool to not realize that we were to get our intermediate results the previous day. I did not even bother to check my results the previous day. That photo instilled new confidence in me. I felt that may be if I strongly wish and aspire to do something I will achieve it. The society may speak whatever they want. But I should know my capabilities. When I believe that I can do, I mean it. So with the same spirit, I went back to Hyderabad and apologized everyone.

"PERSONECO" Reflects a Person and is called as 'PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT' or 'SELF EVOLUTION' in Esperanto language. Personality is what makes a person unique. Personality development helps to develop an identity and leave a long lasting impression on others. The development of personality starts from the day a child is born. The earlier you start building your personality the better. By Following the FIT INDIA MOVEMENT launched by our beloved PM Narendra Modi, St.Ann's Degree and PG college has conducted many sessions. PERSONECO was one of the amazing session among them. It was conducted by Mr.Bhaskar, an Ex-HR and Administrator for many companies, who dedicated his life to NUTRITION Field since past 20 years. He Untangled us clearly how the PERSONECO began before the ages. He demonstrated a flourishing sloka of Bhagavad Gita : "vyavasayatmika buddhir
ekeha kuru-nandana
bahu-sakha hy anantas ca
buddhayo 'vyavasayinam". TRANSLATION
Those who are on this path are resolute in purpose, and their aim is one. O beloved child of the Kuru's, the intelligence of those who are irresolute is many-branched. He Demonstrated how Personality development includes Our physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual development. One can evolve their psyche and goal with SMART Work i.e., Specific - Measurable - Achievable - Realistic and Time bound Work. To Tag along with the SMART Work as reach a GOAL, one should have all these features : Positive Thinking, Anger Management, Time Management, Self- Confidence, Stress and Fear Control, Communication and Questioning skills, Goal setting, Decision Making and so on. GOAL is generally differentiated into 3 types, They are 1)Short term goal 2)Medium term goal 3)Long term goal. But remember one thing, you should Never Divert Your Goal. Punishment in Kindergarten" is a little autobiographical poem by the famous Indo-Anglian poet Kamala Das. She recalls one of her childhood experiences. When she was in the kindergarten, one day the children were taken for a picnic. All the children except her were playing and making merry. But she alone kept away from the company of the children. Their teacher, a blue-frocked woman, scolded her saying.

"Why don't you join the others, what

A peculiar child you are!"

This heard, all the other children who were sipping sugar cane turned and laughed. The child felt it very much. She became sad at the words of the teacher. But the laughter by the children made her sadder. She thought that they should have consoled her rather than laughing and insulting her. Filled with sorrow and shame she did her face in a hedge and wept. This was indeed a painful experience to a little child in the nursery school.

Now after many years she has grown into an adult. She has only a faint memory of the blue-frocked woman and the laughing faces of the children. Now she has learned to have an 'adult peace' and happiness in her present state as a grown-up person. Now there is no need for her to be perturbed about that bitter kindergarten experience. With her long experience in life she has learned that life is a mixture of joy and sorrow. She remembers how she has experienced both the joy and sorrow of life. The long passage of time has taught her many things. She is no more a lonely individual as she used to feel when she was a child. The poet comes to a conclusion that there is no need for her to remember that picnic day, when she hid her face in the hedge, watching the steel-white sun, that was standing lonely in the sky.

The poem is written in three stanzas, each having different number of lines – the first with seven lines, the second with six and the third with nine. The poem does not follow any regular rhyme scheme. The subject matter of the poem has two parts, the first of which being the description of the painful experience of the kindergarten days and the second, the adult's attitude to the incident at present when she is no more a child.

The poet seems to be nostalgic about her childhood days. There are certain expressions in the poem that are worth remembering. The poet says that the child buried its face in the hedge and "smelt the flowers and the pain". "Smelt the flowers can be taken as an ordinary expression, but "smelt the pain" is something very evocative and expressive. In the first stanza of the poem, the poet describes the pain caused to the child, "throwing words like pots and pans". This again is beautiful. The phrase used by the poet to describe the child's teacher, namely, "blue-frocked woman" can be justified from the child's point of view. But to the poet who is an adult the use of the phrase looks a little too awkward. On the whole, the poem can be taken as the poet's interest in remembering her childhood days.

txt
