The GRE, the holy grail of higher studies abroad, is one of the most recognised tests in the world. The General Test follows a simple pattern of Analytical Writing, Quantitative Analysis and Verbal Reasoning is well known and those students looking to pursue their Masters abroad have this pattern tattooed on their souls. While the test is not compulsory when applying for higher studies, a lot of universities take your score into consideration when reviewing your application. A good score proves that you have what it takes to finish the course and helps you gain that little extra edge over the rest of the applicants. The GRE Subject Test, like the General Test, tests knowledge that is gained over a large period of time through continuous understanding and consequently, is very hard to study for. Us Indian students might have an advantage here, with our intermediate syllabus being a lot more demanding than the corresponding years of high school in the US. Those who took MPC, particularly those who took IIT coaching, will find the Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics tests fairly simple and can breeze through them with a quick revision of the intermediate topics and a few weeks watching Youtube lectures to learn a few new topics. Those who took BiPC will find the same with respect to Biology. The test is offered three times a year and costs $150, excluding special handling requests like the late fee, etc.

I was told once by a wiser man than me that one must never stop learning, especially when it seems like there is no need to do so anymore. Something that I've been trying to emulate since then, reading whatever I can find about the world, its people, the kingmakers and breakers, the movers and shakers of the world, responsible for shaping it to what it is today. History has fascinated me, reading about incredible leaders that faced great odds with a steadfast resolution that would make even the bravest among us quiver, hence my use of our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's picture for the cover of this article.

Which brings us to the book at hand, India After Gandhi by noted historian Ramachandra Guha, a detailed and thoroughly written account of India's history starting with Nehru's Tryst with Destiny, and ending in 2005, a mere two years before the book was published. Ask your friends, or ask yourself how much you know about India's history post independence. History might seem a dull subject, but for students, who will go on to become productive citizens of the country, voters with powers, it is important to be aware of the context of our nation before we are allowed to make a decision on whom to vote into power. History might be dull, but it is extremely important.

But Ramachandra Guha's writing style keeps you engaged throughout the book, as he takes your hand and guides you through the brief history of our nation. A historian's job, he says, is to retell the events as is, and not to speculate on what could have been. The most important parts of Indian history, from the annexation of Hyderabad from the Nizams, to the wars we fought with our neighbours, Indira Gandhi's reign, the first instances of the Kashmir issue which rapidly devolved since then into what it is today, the book covers everything that you need to know, without bias, without remorse and without a care for the agendas of political parties.

It is only natural for someone to know the history of their own country, even if it may not seem interesting when they were younger. I'm of the firm belief that belief that we wouldn't have ignorant people filling up our social media if they took the time out to actually read what mattered instead of forming opinions based on what they are told to believe.

India After Gandhi is an essential read, simply because of the fact that it delves into the history of India that our schools never bothered to teach us about. That and the fact that Guha's writing style makes reading the book infinitely easier if you're still wondering if the book reads like multiple Wikipedia entries, worry not because I can assure you it doesn't. Guha's narrative focus is tight, shifts well and keeps you engaged to its pages. Of course, it goes without saying that a degree of interest is needed, but then again, if you've picked up this book, you're already half way there.

Cricket is India's religion, and India vs Pakistan is its biggest festival. The two nations, rivals both on and off the field, have always clashed in high-octane matches owing to various factors which will take too long to explain. The bottom line is that when it comes to a cricket match between India and Pakistan, the passions run wild, fans from across the nation stay glued to their seats, in every

So today, as India faces Pakistan at the ICC Champions Trophy at 3 PM, let us take a look back at India's impressive record against Pakistan in a limited overs format. Here are the top 5 greatest India vs Pakistan matches in the history of cricket

1. World Cup 2003 League Match At Centurion, March 1st

It was a match to remember as the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar himself gave the Pakistanis a run for their money, breaking their spirit by smash after smash of the ball, no matter how it was bowled at him. An unfortunate hit led to a catch and Sachin was dismissed at 98, but then The Wall Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh walked onto the pitch and kept the fight going. The cover picture of this post is from that day, and what a glorious day it was. Sadly, India did not win the World Cup during the series, but our time would come.

2. World Cup, Sydney, March 4, 1992

A match that would lay the foundation to the national hero Sachin Tendulkar would become, the master blaster showed the Pakistanis what he was made of, deflecting all their attempts to bowl him out and mercilessly hitting their balls out of the park. It was an important day in the history of Indian cricket, as it was the first time India had faced Pakistan in a World Cup, and it was also one of the first matches that would cement Sachin's legacy, and give nightmares to the bowlers that faced him.

3. Willis World Cup, 2nd Quarterfinal, Bangalore, March 9, 1996

In perhaps what would permanently remain a reminder to the Pakistanis to not chew more than they can swallow, an overconfident Aamir Sohail gestured to Venkatesh Prasad to go grab the ball back from the boundary he had just hit. A fired up and angry Parasd responded with a delivery that blew the stumps right out of the ground, silencing the Pakistani side. 4. Twenty20 World Cup Final, Johannesburg, 24 Septemeber 2007

It was the biggest match of the year. India had previously defeated Pakistan during the group stages but the Pakistani side managed to claw their way to the final. The stage was set, the new format of Twenty20 meant more people could enjoy cricket without having to spend a lot of time on it, (it is not secret why the T20 format is so popular), and people across the nation were glued to their seats. I remember this match completely, from start to finish, watching it while standing in the mess hall of the hostel I was studying in, jumping around with joy whenever we gained a strong foothold. It was a match to remember, an indicator of the new era of India cricket after having gone through a slump. We won the tournament, and they won our hearts and minds all over again. The fact that Pakistan was defeated multiple times during the tournament was just the cherry on the top.

5. 2011 World Cup Semi-Final, Mohali, March 30

A lot of you might remember this in excruciating detail, but I have fond memories of it not just because of skipping college work and watching the entire match with friends, but also for going on Twitter and making fun of the Pakistanis as the match progressed. It was one of the most high-octane matches I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. The Indian team was out for blood, Mahendra Singh Dhoni leading the charge, but it was actually Sachin Tendulkar who saved the match, hitting a brutal 85 against Pakistan's fired up line up, a swan song to his incredible career as this would be his final World Cup.

It was the first time I saw people being more excited about the Semi-final than the actual final itself, which we won because of the Dhoni's incredible knock, but that is a story for another time.

I've been studying in CBIT for more than three years now and I've learnt a lot of things; both in and out of class. Mostly out of class. And I don't mean typical platitudes like 'make friends', 'go to classes', etc. I'm talking about the hardcore, gritty tips that actually do work. Here goes.

1. Attendance Woes

At least 64% (fake statistic) of the students in college constantly worry about their attendance, regularly keep tabs on it and complain aloud about it not getting updated. After six semesters of going through all this, I've figured out how to beat the system. The attendance taken at the beginning of the sem is updated pretty regularly with all the enthusiasm of a new start. The attendance towards the end of the sem, however, is updated with all the regularity of college buses being on time. So, attend classes regularly the first month or so and keep your attendance percentage high. Towards the end of the semester, you can bunk more often and still keep your attendance percentage high since that part won't get updated quickly, sometimes not at all.

2. The Nightmare of Engineering Drawing

Every engineer has to go through this god awful subject in which you carry your drafter and chart box to college once or twice a week and sit through three hours of meticulously drawing figures. While some people enjoy this, it was a perfect nightmare for me. The secret I figured out is fairly double-edged, so try it out at your own risk. The charts to be submitted every week add up to about ten charts and count towards only a small percentage of your final score. I decided to skip the whole assignment charts thing and directly finish the final exam drawing that counted for the majority of the final score. Instead of having to rigorously draw up ten charts plus the last one, I decided to only do the one that counted more than four times the ten put together. Of course, this involves compromising a little on your grade, which is why only those who really, REALLY dislike drawing can consider this.

3. Be In Touch With The Other Sections

A lot of the popular branches are divided into sections, with different faculty for a lot of the subjects. Keep in touch with people from the other sections and be aware of where they're at in their subjects. You can borrow notes and have study groups with them, taking advantage of the fact that they have different professors.

txt
rich_1496478333573

4. Studying For The Vivas

A lot of students fear the viva more than the practicals themselves. An easy way to help study properly for this takes advantage of the fact that in CBIT, we have the second midterm exams just before the practicals. Since vivas are taken from the syllabus of the subject, take short notes while studying for the mids. You can study these again just before that subject's practical exam, keeping what you studied earlier fresh in your mind. This is extremely helpful.

txt
rich_1496478567743

5. The Long, Long Bus Rides

CBIT is pretty far away from civilisation and a lot of students have to sit in the college bus for an hour or more to go to college, and the same back. While it may be tempting to use this time to listen to music or sleep, don't do that. Instead, use this time to learn something new and acquire a new skill. It'll give a sense of accomplishment and you'll be surprised at just how much you've learned in four years doing this. They'll look great on your resumes too.

Good luck with your college life; I'll see you on the other side!
"}]
As your friends how many of them actually watch TV on TV anymore. Personally, I haven't watched TV for nearly a decade at home unless I need it for the PlayStation, there simply is no point for me to watch TV anymore when all my media content is on my laptop, or my desktop computer, which I love and will defend until my last breath.

Jokes apart, however, it truly is a sign of the times that many of today's youth are moving away from traditional TV and to online media, due to various reasons which deserves a blog post of its own, which I will get to later, but to focus on the task at hand, it is only natural that in an age when online content is king is the age where we adopt technologies like the Amazon Fire TV Stick, so we can go back to watching media content back on TV, except this time it is the online content you've grown to love.

Trust me on this one, I have an impressive monitor for my desktop PC, but watching Interstellar on the TV was a surreal experience; the bigger screen combined with an impressive sound system provide for an excellent experience. With an Amazon Firestick, I can now stream the media content over WiFi to my TV directly, without having to depend on any extra connections, or hoping that my TV is internet enabled. All it needs is an HDMI port, and of course, you'll need a WiFi router at home.

The Firestick boasts of an impressive 1.3Ghz processor and an 8GB memory, combined with a RAM of 1GB, which on its own is quite impressive, but considering the size of the device and it's various functions, it is indeed quite a marvel. The processor and memory come in handy to run apps directly from the Firestick and connect to the internet.

The remote control that comes bundled with it has a very impressive voice recognition software, which picks up words even with accents, an impressive feat after years of yelling at Siri and Google Now and desperately hoping it understands what you say. Just speak the name of the TV show into the remote after turning out voice recognition and et voila! it works like a charm. It's snappy, responsive, and impressive.

As with everything in the world, it is not without problems. Amazon loves marketing their products through their services and devices, but they could definitely use a reminder every now and then that Amazon Prime is not the only On-Demand Video Service available on the device (can you imagine the horror if we were only stuck with Amazon Prime? All their content in India is censored!), services like Netflix are not prominently featured (but still there, of course) to favour pushing Amazon's own Prime Video service to the forefront.

Another minor gripe I have with the device is the need to sign in to your Amazon account to use it. A great way to be connected to your Prime Video content, no doubt, but I fail to see why I need to do it to use any service at all. It is intrusive and annoying.

Final Thoughts:

It's a great device that we recommend, and unlike its competitor from Google, the Firestick does not depend on the power of the device that is blasting the media content onto it. The little device is a powerhouse of its own, considering its size. If you've been looking for something to blast your content on the TV you have at home for a while, the Amazon Fire TV Stick might be just what you're looking for. However, if you would much prefer to watch your media content on the computer, you really don't require it.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said that the heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night, a saying that applies to the struggle to achieve a separate statehood to Telangana as well. Starting back in 1955, the struggle was kept alive by the sons and daughters of the land, carrying out without faltering and without fear, all the while their companions slept or ignored them.

This is why Telangana is not merely a state carved out of a much bigger state for administrative purpose, but the end result of a struggle that claimed many lives, received many wounds, and its people, their spirits broken, until such a day when they could look up again when a leader of the masses stepped up and took charge. It was then, at this moment, when the people of the land took charge of the protest once again, and didn't stop fighting until the cycle was repeated.

It is no coincidence then, that the leader to break this cycle was the charismatic K. Chandrashekar Rao. Him, along with close aides and family, led the struggle, and gave the people a leadership to believe in. He gave the people of Telangana a leader they could trust, and he delivered.

On this day, in 2014, Telangana was born, and when it comes to newborns, utmost care must be taken to ensure it grows up to be strong. The people of Telangana knew what was needed, and the people of Telangana chose the TRS party to shape the state in its most crucial years, a choice which will shower the state with positive blessings for years to come.

Under the excellent leadership of KCR, and with his son, K. T. Rama Rao at the helm of the departments of Information Technology, Urban development and Textiles, the state has seen a rapid spurt of growth, and Telangana's crown jewel, Hyderabad, the city we all love, has only grown prosperous thanks to their efforts.

Telangana State since its formation has performed exceptionally well in various fields, both social and economic. Telangana's IT/ITES exports hit a whopping Rs. 85,470 crore, with a goal of Rs. 1,20,000 by 2020, as said by KTR. This means that our current growth rate in IT exports is 13.85%, which is 4% higher than the national average. KTR himself has been tirelessly working for Telangana, speaking with CEOs of major multinational companies as well as keeping a close eye on the IT industry in the state. From bringing development to the state to navigating the serpentine halls of politics, KTR, much like his father and Chief Minister KCR, has been an instrumental factor in changing the lives of the people of Telangana, bringing much needed development that focuses only on the state.

If Telangana is the idea, KTR is the messiah. He's the messenger that brings the word of Telangana to the investors and people alike, so that in the future, the people of Telangana have something they could depend on. At the end of the day, it only seems fair that a struggle of so many years is only met with rapid development once the struggle is over, and it's time to act upon the hopes and dreams of the people who've believed in you.
