The concept of education is almost incomprehensible without teachers. The first memory of our school life for most of us is likely that of a teacher. It is often said that teachers are our second parents and it wouldn't be wrong to say so.

Teachers are our first guides. They teach us our first lessons. They are the ones who educate us about morals, ethics and the difference between right and wrong. They are the givers of knowledge. The way teachers teach us might create an interest in the subject. The activities that they organise are responsible not only for teaching us but also add some fun to the mix. Their reprimands might seem a little harsh but are always meant for our betterment. They never shirk from their duties. They are the ones who are responsible for moulding us into responsible human beings.

Like DNA, each teacher is unique. But one thing that is common is their desire to shape the future of the country. Teaching is one of the most thankless jobs. Teachers are some of the most hardworking individuals.Even when we have our holidays, they still work. Students come and go but a teacher is always there.Imagine how many years they spend teaching almost the same thing, correcting the same papers, doing the same tasks relentlessly. And they never expect a thing in return.

So we should always remember that no matter how much we achieve, it is our teachers who are primarily responsible for it. So always treat them with respect and gratitude.
"}]
A few months ago, after overhearing a conversation at a coffee shop, I wrote about how multi-level-marketing (MLM) firms are attempting to woo students into their ponzi schemes, by striking various chords with innocent students. And along these lines, a student from a reputed engineering college in Warangal, contacted us and told us that a 'marketing workshop' was conducted for students at a major hotel in the city and that the workshop aimed at getting students into a ponzi scheme.
Based on what that girl told me, I realised that these people who pitch MLM, basically spew up the same old casette about how this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that is bigger than anything else, as the girl's friend (another student and yet another victim of MLM scams) had told her to attend this session.
At the session, they were presented with much-out-of-context newspaper reports showing how employment opportunities will hit a low point in the coming years and how students need to take up marketing and more to sustain themselves, as the student Apurva* says, "We were shown various presentations and were shown quotes on marketing by prominent people and they went to the extent of showing that the American President, Donald Trump also made his fortune through network marketing." While I wrote about how students should improve their marketing and communication skills to ensure a good career, telling them outrightly that their four years of engineering study is a waste and they need to learn marketing and be marketers is something I couldn't understand.
An interesting point of the entire session was how they tried to validate their statements by showing their FICCI certification, using Trump, sharing their personal experiences on how they made money (by fooling gullible students and youngsters, most probably) and more. "The extent to which they tried to validate themselves itself made me suspicious," says Apurva, adding, "They actually said if they were illegal, they wouldn't be paying taxes and that was a major red light. After the entire presentation was over, they said I need to buy their product worth Rs. 7000 and make two other people buy it and that's how I'll make money."
In addition to monetary earnings, they also showed pictures of various people vacationing in exotic places like Goa and told the workshop participants that these all expense paid trips will also be a part of the benefits of enrolling in the scheme. This is one of the classic baits that MLM firms use, by showing glorious rewards to pull people into the schemes.
"The sad part is, many students I know actually enrolled in this program and are now attempting to make people buy their products. I didn't expect my friends to get into things like this," she shares.
We urged you before and we are urging you now, if you are reading this, please beware of such ponzi schemes.
