10 Things About JNTU - Hyderabad

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad is one of the biggest universities in the country with about 200 colleges affiliated to it. Over the years, since its inception in 1965 it has grown to be the most reputed university with exemplified infrastructure and unique and efficient curriculum. Here is a list of things you might not about JNTU.    

1. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was established on 2 October 1972, by an act of State Legislature.

2. It was founded in 1965 as the Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College which later was established as a University. 

3. The Governor of Telangana is the Chancellor of the university and the first Vice-Chancellor of the university was D. N. Reddy.

4. It offers around 25 undergraduate programs( B.Tech) and 77 post graduate programs. 

5. Back in September 2008, as per the Act No. 30 and Act No. 31, JNTU was divided into four universities, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) and Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad. 

6. For the year 2015-16 around 200 Colleges are affiliated to JNTU and 158 Colleges have been rejected for affiliation. 

7. It is recognized by UGC and further it has gained ‘A’ grade accreditation by the (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) NAAC. 

8. It has around 47 Departments functioning actively. Some of them are Marine Technology, Neural Engineering, Nanotechnology, Printing Technology. 

9. The intake of JNTU Hyderabad is about 1000 students every year.  

10. According to 2017 Indian University Ranking - JNTU is ranking at number 55.
