It isn't wrong to say that coffee in our lives is more than just a beverage; it has become our companion through the thick-n-thin of our everyday lives, and is consumed and shown off as a possession worth it. At any given point of time, we just don't seem to have enough of it!

Hence, it isn't difficult to foresee that a day might soon come when this benevolent beverage turns into a life partner and you and your pack of handful coffee beans or a cup of Expresso tie the knots to remain together forever! .. Atleast there won't be any conflicts in your married life...

Anyways, let's pop out of the dream bubble and come back to the present; You are reading this article and..... Your simmering cup of coffee is staring at you with starry eyes so don't forget to sip it from time to time and give it the affectionate touch of your lips...

Ahmmm... You know I'm here....

So, having your lover by the side of the table "top"; Have you ever wondered how the Divine guided this aesthetically and exquisitely savory beverage into your life?

Well, He did so in the 17th century via a Sufi Saint named Baba Budan as his messenger. Read on to find out more:

In the 9th century, when the entire world was unaware of this genius, Ethopians knew about the stimulating effect of coffee. A gardener named Kaldi was the first one to observe the effects of coffee beams on his goats who became highly energetic after consuming these. Later in the 15th century di for the first te coffee travelled outside the African Continent to the Arabian Countries, especially the Yemen; the story of which was first discovered in a book found in the National Library of France in 1671.

Yemen grew on by the 17th century as the only major producer of Coffee in the entire world. A Sufi Saint named Baba Budan then, while returning from Haj carried back 7 coffee beams to India. Why only 7? This is a spiritual number in Islam. These first 7 seeds of coffee were then planted in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnataka as the first coffee plantation in India.

By the 1800s coffee in India was made using honey and not sugar. It's grew as a reputed beverage of the rich as it's famous "Degree Coffee" grade was prepared using pure milk which, by then, were only affordable by the wealthy kings and landlords. So now you know, why it has the repute as being a symbol of the "Sophisticated".

In the 1870s, there was a sudden downfall of the coffee plantations in Karnataka when a fungal infection hit the crops and the entire plantation range was destroyed. By the time, coffee plantation had reached other states of Mumbai, Kerala and Kolkata amd were flourishing there having Mumbai already started with the first branch of the "Indian Coffee House" and India in 1936.

Karnataka too formed a Coffee Research Centre in the Chikkamagaluru District and bounced back in 1970 with a new and tastier variety of coffee that used 70-80% of Roasted Coffee beams and 20-30% Chicery as it's ingredients. This was similar in taste to the famous coffee of Yemen amd soon became a nationwide success.

Then the branches of "Indian Coffee House" spread across the country and gained India it's present repute of being the 6th Largest Coffee Producer of the world.

It's a common sight to see police on the roads in the middle of the night, keeping a watch for drunk drivers and that is the premise of the music video "Chukka", released by Talent Cocktail, a student group from Vizag. This video which has gone viral in the past few hours, and features a very catchy rap song sung by Aravind Sharon, a third year student from GITAM university.

"A friend of ours died in an drunk-driving accident and since then, we wanted to do something to send out a message and that is what motivated us to do this song," shares Aravind, adding, "When we were planning it, we felt that adding humour to it will make it more interesting to the student audience. We wanted to send a message that 'chukka' (a drop of alcohol) kills people."

The video, shot by Shanmukh Vinay and edited by Raviteja Kurmana & Ravindra Mudunoori, features young men driving drunk but pretending to be sober in front of cops. They then entertain cops in order to get away without a fine and it shows Raghav Krishna, Nani Bongarala and Mohit Pedada grooving to Aravind's catchy lyrics set to Chandan's quirky tune, about how people enjoy while being drunk. The song then ends on a tragic note, with the message that being drunk is not all fun.

"The main reason we rapped it was because rap is a genre that is easily relatable. We also want to do our bit to increase the popularity of Telugu rap and this song is our small contribution to Telugu Rap," explains Aravind, who shot the song along with his team in one single night.

The timing of the shoot was very challenging for them as they did it immediately after writing an exam as he says, "We wrote an exam and shot it in the night after the exam but the very next day, we had another exam. We rushed to college to do the exam properly after we wrapped up the shoot."

Aravind, who has been pursuing music for the last six years, wants to make a career out of it, saying "I don't want to be just another employee. I'm in the process of convincing my parents (both of whom are doctors), that I want to make a career in music."
"}]

People who say, it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

Follow your dream.!

It all goes back to a story of a young man whose father is a horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, farm to farm and ranch to ranch training the horses. One day, this young boy was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up. He wrote a seven page describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4000 sq. foot house that would sit on the 200-acre dream ranch.

He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it into his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back, on the front page there was a large red F (Failed). The boy with the dream went to the teacher and asked 'Why did I receive an F?'

The teacher said, ' This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to get many things in order to make it possible. There's no way you could ever do it. Then the teacher added "If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will consider your grade.'

The boy thought about it long and hard. Finally, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated,' You can keep the F and I'll keep my dream.'

Don't let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what. There lies the magic of believing. You might not be old enough to play basket ball or base ball. You might not be eight yet. When you start baseball if someone says you cannot be able to run that fast because you had an operation. You just need to believe that you need not run that fast. Tell them ' I'll just hit the ball out of the park, then I'll be able to walk.' An exceptional view of life. The only limit you have is the limit you believe. Start with yourself, with all your dreams, one or the other day, definitely, the dream has to happen.!

Solar power is rapidly becoming cheaper and more efficient. Many homeowners and businesses are putting solar panels on their rooftops even in agriculture because it's cheaper in the long run than buying electricity from the grid.In order to make more use of it, solar windows have been introduced.

A technological startup on a mission to commercialise housing estates - world's first transparent solar-power-generating windows has been outfitted the headquarters of a Dutch bank.

The windows have solar cells installed in the edges at a specific angle that allows the incoming solar light to be efficiently transformed into electricity.” - Grapperhaus, CEO of the startup, called Physee unveiled the first installation in June 2017 in Eindhoven, Netharlands at RABOBANK.

This enabled the employees to charge their batteries, plug in their smart phones into windows using USB ports per every square meter two times a day," he told Live Science. And the other buildings have already lined up for this innovative technology and Physee won a place on the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneers 2017 list.

The windows could generate 8 to 10 watts of power."It works similarly to a glow-in-the-dark star," Grapperhaus said. "The difference is that the glowing star emits the green wavelength, but the coating on our windows emits light in near-infrared wavelength." which is due to rare earth metal THULIUM which converts incoming visible light and transports to solar cells in the edges of windows, mentioning it’s cost making it a commercially viable

UPDATE: We wish Meher Rishika all the very best for the upcoming World Skills 2017. Read on for more!

Held once every two years, the WorldSkills 2017 is an upcoming 77 country event that focuses on skills excellence and development. Featuring about 50 different skills ranging from Carpentry to Fashion Technology to Brick Laying to Information Technology, this event is -for the lack of a better comparison, like the Olympics of skill excellence. Representing India in the upcoming WorldSkills at Abu Dhabi next week, in the IT Software Solutions for Business (ITSSB) category is the 20 year old student Meher Rishika, from BVRITH.

A final year Computer Science student, Meher went through several gruelling rounds of coding and building business-ready websites, based on specific problem statements, last year to be a part of the Indian team. "Our college sends out information about hackathons and other competitive coding events on a regular basis and to be honest, I applied for this when I saw that the event will be held in Abu Dhabi. It was an open competition where we were given a problem statement and later I was selected for Zonals in June last year. Later I went to the Nationals, in July 2016 and I won the Nationals and that's how I became a part of the team representing India in the event," says the only person representing the country in the ITSSB category.

If the journey so far seems tough, what she's doing now and what she will face in the event will make all this seem like a piece of cake. Meher (pictured to the left hand side of the Union Minister Uma Bharti) will be competing with the best of the best from 77 countries and will be challenged rigorously over the course of four days, as she explains "It will be the same as the previous levels but only more intense. We will be given specific problem statements and have to build web products to solve those problems. I'm working hard training for this, with Mr. Sachin and Mr. Phani, who are my mentors for this. Under them, I'm extensively building on my Java programming skills, with a special focus on Spring Framework. My mentors give me assignments with strict deadlines and I am learning a lot. I'm working hard to ensure I secure a podium finish for the country."

Having taken part in Hackathons earlier, competitive coding is not new to this IIM aspirant, but according to her, preparing for this event and coding her way through Nationals has taught her a lot of important life skills. "This is a very high pressure competition and it taught me how to handle pressure, in addition to improving my technical skills and teaching me presentation and business skills," says Meher, who is also a part of the Women In Software Engineering (WISE) program at her college.

Her college supports her in her endeavour, as student with 75% aggregate explains "For the last couple of weeks, I haven't been going to college and instead, I go to Mr. Phani's office in Madhapur and sit there all day coding and learning with him. My college is supporting me by taking care of my attendance and especially my HOD, Ms Vasanthi is very supportive."

"I really want to win a medal for the country, and be the first Indian girl to win a medal at the WorldSkills event. I hope to make my country proud," says Meher.
"}]
