26th July 2022, this day will be remembered in the history of India as it was the day on which India won a historic war, The Kargil War. It is regarded as one of the most significant wars in Indian History. Let’s look at the story of this war from its beginning to its end.

txt
rich_1658846471635

On 2nd May 1999 local shepherds at 10:22 min noticed a moment in the hills & he came down running and informed the army. Initially, shepherds reported that they noticed 6 intruders in the hills. On 5th may 1999 4 patrol parties were sent to the hills as search parties to look at what was exactly happening in the hills. Among them, 5 of our soldiers were kidnapped and killed brutally. On 6th may 1999 this news reached the Ministry of Defence, and it was a matter of concern for the Indian government. On 9th may 1999 heavy artillery shelling was done by the Pakistan army an ammunition depot was destroyed. At Army Ordnance Corps reported 127 crores of loss in the Headquarters. On the following day i.e, on 10th may 1999 cabinet committee had a briefing in the Army Operations room because a lot of Artillery Shelling was done from the Pakistani side & it was a time to become alert.

On 14th May 1999 a patrolling team of the JAT Regiment went up for a patrol and Captain Saurabh Kaliya was kidnapped & what was hat done to him was inhuman and was against war ethics. His eyes were removed, his head was cut, his body was cut into pieces, packed in a jute bag & was thrown. And many people don’t know that Captain kaliya was recently promoted & didn’t even receive his first salary as captain. But after this, we came to know that the intruders were the Pakistan army. In May 1999 Indian Army came to know that in the north direction of Kargil nearly 80km of top areas of mountains were captured. They were having a lot of ammunition including stinger missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, multi-barrelled guns & mini machine guns. And this is when the actual seriousness of the issue came up. This was forwarded to the ministry of defense on the following day i.e, on 18th May 1999.

On 19th may 1999 officially Kargil War started. In the Army Operations room, General Ved Prakash Malik Sir confirmed it as the war zone & it was discussed with the Air chief martial the need for air support. And then Airforce stated its moment. But Airforce had a problem. Mundo Dalo & tiger hill were strategically very important & it was very important to recapture them. But the main problem with these regions was an air strike on hills was never going to be easy it was a suicidal thought. But the heart of an Army man says, “this was the day for which I joined the army”. And Air martial took this difficult call of an airstrike which was next to impossible. On 26th May 1999, from the air base of Pathankot & Srinagar Mig-21, Mig-27 & Mi-17 helicopters took off, and attacked point 4590 in Batalik, along with the Infantry & Artillery units of the Indian Army. Operation Vijay and Operation Safed Sagar of the Air force started.

But there was a technical glitch. Deploying of more infantry in Turtuk & Mushkoh was allowing Pakistan Army for heavy deployment & heavy moment of airforce was allowing Pakistan to open their warfare. Despite all these technical glitches army, infantry & artillery battalions were cautiously moving forward. If the Indian Army gave them even a slight chance for artillery fire, it would be a huge problem for us as army & infantry units were already walking under huge artillery fire.

27th May 1999 was a huge day for the Indian Airforce as we faced a big loss on that day. When Flight lieutenant Nachiketha was on a flight in his Mig-27. And when he was about to fire, from the top of the hill, a stinger missile hit his Mig-27. But he ejected from that helicopter and opened his parachute. But unfortunately, he fell to that side of LOC & was eventually captured. Following that incident, Squadron leader Ajay Yahuja flew from his Mig-27 & was shot down by a Stinger missile in the same way. But this time when he was about to land with his parachute, he was shot ruthlessly with many bullets and pieces of his body landed down. Eventually, with huge artillery firing and airstrikes, the Indian Army & Airforce together captured point 4590. ON 28th May 1999 a Mi-17 helicopter of the Indian Airforce was shot down in which 4 crew members were killed. On 1st June 1999, Artillery Shelling was increased by Pakistan due to which Army & Infantry Unit’s moment slowed down a little bit and most of the moment was happening during the night times. This was happening in the area of NH1 until 4th June.

txt
rich_1658846471643

5th June 1999 was the day when it was officially confirmed along with evidence that the intruders were Pakistan Army. On the following day, i.e, on 6th June 1999 attack was started from the three sides by the Indian Army. On 9th June 1999, the Indian Army captured the key sectors of Batalik & all the evidence were sent to General Pervez Musharraf who was on a tour to China during that time.

txt
rich_1658846471644

13th June 1999 was a big day for the Indian Army as Tololin Hill was completely captured on that day. ON 15th June 1999 American President Bill Clinton held a meeting & asked Pervez Musharraf to take his army back from the terrain. From 14th June 1999 to 28th June 1999 Artillery fire from huge from both sides and was going on in a full-fledged manner. On 29th July 1999, Tiger hill’s two strategically important points point 5060 & point 5100 were captured by the Indian Army. On 2nd July 1999 attack was unleashed from three sides by the Indian Army and on 4th July 1999, Tiger hill was completely captured by the Indian Army over a 12hours of a long fight. But of course, the Indian army faced many casualties. ON 5th July Indian Army completely captured the Drass sector & Pakistan Prime minister Nawaz Sharif announced a complete withdrawal of the Pakistan Army from the terrain. On 7th July 1999, Batalik’s Jubair heights were captured Indian Army. On 11th July 1999, Pakistan Army officially started its withdrawal & Indian Army gained control over all the key points in Batalik. ON 14th July 1999 Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced the success of Operation Vijay and also announced the conditions for negotiations with Pakistan.

txt
rich_1658846471645

From 15th to 25th July 1999 many search operations were conducted in the valley to make sure that everything was all right. Here comes the worst part, Pakistan refused to take the dead bodies of many of their soldiers even though they belong to Pakistan. Indian Army conducted the funeral of all those soldiers with full respect. Indian Army stands for that dignity & soldierhood. As it is the right of every soldier to have a grand & respectful funeral after his death irrespective of the nation they serve.

txt
rich_1658846471646

It seems like there's nothing he can't do.

As CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, founder of The Boring Company, and cofounder of OpenAI and Neuralink, Elon Musk seems to be everywhere at once, pushing all kinds of futuristic technologies. He's said he won't be happy until we've escaped Earth and colonized Mars.

Between space rockets, electric cars, solar batteries, and the billions he's made along the way, Musk is basically a real-life Tony Stark, which is why he served as an inspiration for Marvel's 2008 "Iron Man" film.

But it hasn't always been smooth sailing for Musk. Here's how he went from getting bullied in school to becoming a small-time entrepreneur and eventually the CEO of two major companies that seem like they're straight out of science fiction—and how he almost went broke along the way.

1. He was violently bullied as a child.

Although Tesla CEO Elon Musk is now a social media force who rubs shoulders with Jeff Bezos and is compared to Steve Jobs' greatness, he came from humble beginnings before discovering entrepreneurship. Musk's classmates bullied and beat him up when he was growing up in South Africa before moving to the United States. He had surgery at the age of 41 to correct a deviated septum.

"As a child, I was severely beaten, resulting in a jagged septum. As I got older, it became more difficult to breathe, so it was time to fix " He stated this in a tweet in 2013.

2. He's the original Iron Man

Though the Iron Man comic book character debuted decades ago, the film adaptation drew heavily on Elon Musk's personality and work.

Robert Downey Jr, Hollywood's Iron Man, reportedly asked to meet with Musk while preparing for the first film so he could get a better idea of what a real Tony Stark-style entrepreneur is like.

Musk gave Downey a tour of the SpaceX headquarters, and Downey noted a few of Musk's "accessible eccentricities." Musk's SpaceX facility later served as a filming location for Iron Man 2.

3. He wrote and sold a video game in 1984

In 1984, he created and sold a video game.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, created his own video game called Blastar when he was only 12 years old. When the source code was published in the South African magazine PC and Office Technology, the big tech personality received $500. In 2015, a Google software engineer updated the code to make it HTML5-compatible and playable.

In the 1990s, he went on to work for the now-defunct Rocket Science Games, where he helped develop at least three titles, according to Kotaku.

"We brought him in to write some very menial, low-level code," Rocket Science Games co-founder Peter Barrett said in Ashlee Vance's biography of his time working with Musk.

4. He opened a frat house 'nightclub'

Musk stayed in Canada for three years, then left to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Money was still an issue, so when he and his classmate were running short on cash, they opened a nightclub—in their frat house.

They attracted up to 1,000 people to the house and raised enough money to pay their rent. The classmate, Adeo Ressi, also went on to become a major success in the tech industry. He remembers that although Musk organized the partying, he didn’t participate. Instead, he’d just play video games in his room.

txt
rich_1673189338475

5. He dropped out of college

Yes, Musk did finish that first degree at the University of Pennsylvania. But when he enrolled in a master’s program to study physics at Stanford, he quickly realized that the internet had far more potential to change the world.

He quit the program after just two days to start a new company called Zip2, which provided maps and online city guides for news media websites.

Next, he co-founded an online payments site called X.com, which would later become PayPal. It was only a matter of time before Musk would launch SpaceX, and then Tesla. "He was completely unfazed. After a while, I don't think anyone gave him any direction, and he ended up making whatever he wanted."

6. He used to drink 96 ounces of Diet Coke per day, plus some coffee.

For a period of his life, Musk reportedly drank eight cans of Diet Coke in addition to several cups of coffee each day. It was his means of staying awake and focused during 100-hour work weeks during the process of building and launching his companies, he told Inc. in 2007.

"I got so freaking jacked that I seriously started to feel like I was losing my peripheral vision," he said.

7. His companies almost went bankrupt

Although Musk’s companies SpaceX and Tesla are now success stories, his road to prosperity had some serious financial bumps.
In 2008, his companies were running out of money and were hovering just a few days away from bankruptcy.

Luckily, a $1.6 billion contract from NASA came through at the last minute, saving Musk's empire. He reportedly cried when he got the news about the contract.

8. He really wants to take people to Mars

Elon Musk has declared that he will be the first private citizen to reach Mars—and he means it. His spacecraft company's ultimate goal is to colonize Mars.

He had intended to send mice or plants to Mars and was looking to purchase a rocket to launch them on. When existing rockets proved to be prohibitively expensive, he founded SpaceX to build his own. According to NPR, Musk envisions a crewed space mission to Mars as early as 2029, with the long-term goal of establishing a permanent city on Mars.

What's the deal with Mars? Musk claims that he wants to improve humanity's chances of survival in our universe, even if Earth does not survive—presumably because of climate change. We will destroy our planet if we make bad decisions.

9. He genuinely fears a Terminator-style attack. Skynet

Remember when the Terminator's computers took over the world?

Given his experience in the unstoppable tech sector and his proclivity for foresight, Musk believes that artificial intelligence, such as the Skynet AI system depicted in the film, poses a threat to humanity.

What is his solution? Put computer chips in people's heads to protect them from an attack. Musk established the nonprofit OpenAI to research ways to keep robots from annihilating humanity. Perhaps he knows something we don't.

10. He has an idea for a "fifth mode of transport."

Civilization has created planes, trains, automobiles, and boats, but Musk envisions the Hyperloop high-speed transit tube as a fifth mode. He claims it is the fastest way to travel along the California coast. It would never crash, would be weatherproof, and would transport passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in under 30 minutes. It would be energy efficient, possibly self-powered with solar panels, and would cost far less than an airline ticket, Musk told PandoDaily Editor-in-Chief Sarah Lacy in a recorded interview.

"}]
