"Creativity requires input, and that's what research is!", says Dr. P.Sammaiah (HOD of Mechanical Engineering Department - SREC). Everyone has a turning point in their career... For Sammaiah sir entering into the field of research was his turning point.

Research! seems interesting... With the ease to know about that shift of interest...

I asked, "Sir, By whom were you inspired to cope up with projects regarding research?"

A: Actually not like sort of inspiration but, (gesture: laughing) I was pushed into that field by my guide. He is the one who forced indeed! Later I recognized the importance of it and felt thankful. I would say that he is my role model... my guide... actually my real guru who changed my entire attitude towards research. He is now the great director of the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory - DRDO. He helped me a lot in doing my M tech project in Defence metallurgical research laboratory. And under his guidance, I have written many proposals and got the chance to present my project and gained appreciation from NASA president. I even published 67 articles in different journals and submitted 5 patents. Later on, based on my experience- I have written 2 books on Engineering Technology. I could proudly say that I am a student of such a great person!

By listening to this I was wondered and eagerly to know how could that been possible, I asked about his qualifications...

Sir answered, " I have done my schooling in ZPHS school Kamalapur and completed my intermediate in Govt. Junior College, Hanamkonda. Later, I pursued my B-Tech in KITS WGL in the Mechanical department and then M Tech in NIT WGL. I did a Ph.D. at Osmania University in Mechanical engineering. "

Thus, I came to know the actual reason behind the interest of research generated in him.

txt
rich_1562762088468

Then, how did his journey started in SR Engineering college? So later I asked how come he got associated with the SR.

He told, "My career at first started as an Asst. Professor in VRK College of Engineering, Jagithyala. Later I heard about the open interviews being held in SR to recruit. I curiously attended and got selected and was directly appointed as HOD of Mechanical Engineering department in 2005. Such trust in me has always encouraged me in every aspect! "

Teaching is the best profession! Sammaiah sir says, " I enjoy teaching and motivating students. Thus, whatever positions I lead till now, teaching students always rejoice me!"

So, I asked to share his experiences regarding his teaching days.

(gesture: Laughing) Truly handling students of Mechanical Engineering was very difficult for me at the start. It used to be like a big challenge for me to teach and train them. But patiently, I handled things by motivating them. My classes used to be more interactive ones rather than totally subjective. As I am mostly connected to DRDO scientists, I used to share their profiles in the class as live examples and used to tell how they dedicated to their work and achieved success.

Regarding projects being developed by SREC students, Sammaiah sir says, " Students should apply in real time all those they learn in their engineering and should serve their prior responsibility. SREC students in this aspect are very active and even college is supporting them and encouraging them. Even I guided many students in doing projects with my research experience. Somehow the other even I got to learn many new things from them. One of my student Arun Reddy did a project under my guidance on strengthening the roads - One of the polymer material is discovered to be added to the thor to strengthen the roads. So this is one example."

Motivating the whole staff is also important apart! Let's see how Sammaiah sir does this?

"Staff... Having experienced in that field, I know their mentality and what do they expect. So, I never regret them and always support them." The faculty of Mechanical department is truly talented enough and our unity on a whole is wonderful and is the only reason behind my successful career as a HOD. When comes to motivation, I will always be supporting them and even help in handling the issues.

At last, how would you like to see the college in the next few years?

In these many years of my service, I have never seen such a good supportive college. A special bond has been created with this college. The whole team of SREC is hardworking nature. Our only goal is that our students must get settled. So, I would like to see the fame of SREC spread all over and our students get benefited and crack their goals.

Thus, this is a small talk that we had with the HOD (Mechanical Dept. SREC). Among all the instruments in Carnatic music, Veena is perhaps one of the instruments requiring a high level of skill and considering its size and shape, it is mesmerising to see a Veena player gracefully holding it while plucking the strings and making intricate ragas emanate from the instrument. However, K.D.B. Madhavi, a Hyderabadi Veena player is also known for playing film songs, western compositions and even Hollywood movie soundtracks. This 21-year-old musician with over 150 shows to her credit is known for her soulful fusion compositions in her concerts.

Having started off learning carnatic vocal music at a tender age of 6 because of her music loving parents, she later picked the Veena up, as she shares, “My parents love music and when I started humming songs when I could barely speak, they realised I’m inclined towards music and when the time came, they enrolled me in classes. I learnt singing for a few months but later felt I should pick up an instrument after seeing my mom play the Veena and that’s how I started learning the Veena from D. Lakshmi Tulasi garu. It was through her consistent encouragement that I was able to grasp the nuances of this complex instrument .”

A few years later, through a reality show conducted by a TV channel for instrumental musicians, she turned towards fusion music “In the selection rounds and later rounds, I was asked to play film songs on the Veena. That was when I started attempting to play songs that I heard, on the Veena. The fact that I learnt the basics of music twice (for vocal and for the Veena) helped me a lot as I had a strong base to go ahead with and I could easily play by-the-ear and improvise,” says the musician who graduated from VBIT.

Playing by-the-ear is how she was able to play a lot of different genres on the instrument. “Whenever I listen to a song for the first time, I instantly feel like playing it on the Veena and that is how I feel I got into fusion even after the reality show,” says Madhavi who is known for playing popular soundtracks from Pirates of Carribbean, Harry Potter and more to captivate her audiences at her concerts.

The best part of fusion, according to her, is the freedom that one has in fusion music, as she explains, “The freedom of fusion is why I love playing live as opposed to making videos to put on the internet as I can improvise live and play it slightly differently each time, challenging myself and also entertaining my audiences.”

However, it hasn’t been entirely smooth for her as she has faced criticism for her choice of music. “I am constantly asked why I play western music or film songs on the Veena. I believe music is music irrespective of the genre and in fact, it is highly challenging to play different genres on this instrument while retaining the same beauty. It is challenging because the original tracks are usually loved by many and I have to do justice to that. I enjoy the challenge and it helps me overcome the criticism,” explains Madhavi, who has taken part and secured the top slots in many state and national level music competitions and has also been a recipient of the highly prestigious Indian Raga Fellowship.

She is currently pursuing her Master’s in music and plans to do a lot of fusion concerts in the near future.

As someone who is now in the final year, I say networking is extremely important. This is true for all fields with the exception of those colleges who have a phenomenal placement cell. Even then, a placement cell cannot guarantee you a job, you have to be able to have your own options.

Why is it important?

->Sometimes you need experienced and good advising people to show you clear paths and show you your options instead of freaking you out and making you more nervous.

->In the time when everything seems confusing or hopeless, having contacts means to stress less. How can you network?

1. Make an effort and talk to people when you meet them:Do you feel like you don't have anything to talk about? Well, ask questions. All you know about them is probably their name.Ask them what the place is like or what the job is like. Take it forward from there.

2. Keep in touch:You don't have to say hi every day but make sure you establish a comfortable rapport with the concerned person.

3. Ask your mutual friends to introduce you to the concerned person:They can tell you further. You have to do it. Do you want that job? Then stop worrying or shying away.

Talk! You cannot say after making few friends and call them as your network, of course, they are useful but not most of the time. If you need a better network, Try Internships, and maintain your contacts with managers. There are mostly one day jobs and two day period jobs offered for college students, do not shy to take them, It is better to serve more people, so when you are out of your college, you would get placed so quickly and better.

All the best!!!
"}]
listening to her reminded me of my favorite childhood movie the "The Sound Of Music", Kalaga Manoja has music flowing through her veins. 7 generations of her family was into the art of music and it looks like its not going to stop. She grew up developing an undying love for music, being brought up in a family having almost every one interested in some form of music gets Manoja so intuitive when it comes to singing.

She connects with music on a magical level, for her music is not confined to any sort of space or any specific type "Music can and is found everywhere" she says, and you will always find her humming a tune or singing, it doesn't matter the location be it at home, college or even the bus stop.

When asked what her favorite type or genre for music is this is what she said, "I love all kinds of music from classical to rock and everything in between .

Music is Manoja's therapy she confides in the art of music to help with her emotions and stress and she guarantees that when ever dull she has confidence that just listening to a song can give her the worlds joy.

"There are a lot of great singers in the world today" she says, but her all time favorite, the two artist who will always remain close to her heart are Shreya Ghoshal and Usha Uthup, and its not just their voice that inspires her but their dedication in the field that encourages her.

"I cant remember the last time i did not sing" music keeps Manoja happier it keeps life going, some one said that: Music is very simple; anyone can learn it anytime all it needs passion, and Manoja has that passion.

After speaking to her, Its evident that Music plays an integral and essential role in her life.

A quote that has a lot of meaning to her is "MUSIC IS LIFE, THAT'S WHY OUR HEARTS HAVE BEATS"
"}]

"Sports is my shot of boost" says Suraj.

Suraj Panjala, a Little Flower Degree College student who is currently pursuing his degree second year in BBA and is also very fanatical when it comes to sports.

His passion for sports started as soon as his legs knew how to run!!
He plays various sports like Cricket, Basket ball, Badminton, Volleyball and is also a Professional Swimmer.

WHERE DOES THIS INSPIRATION COME FROM?

For him it's mainly from his father, who plays and has taught him this art. He also gets a lot of inspiration through Olympics and different Sports competition that he sees.

Michael Fred Phelps an American retired Swimmer, and the most successful and decorated Olympian of all time, has helped Suraj learn a lot and assures him that "If they can do it then anyone can".

Suraj is very active and energetic but unlike us he doesn't get his energy through food or a good rest, for him it's through sports!

His all time favorite sport is Cricket, Volleyball and Swimming!!
He participated and won many competitions.

He says that he is grateful for the platform little flower degree college has given, this helps him to work with his team mates and learn the true meaning of sportsmen ship.

But that's not the end, Suraj had this to say and I quote "I won't stop until I win a national level competition" we admire his determination.

The spark inside him only continues to grow and his undying love for sports, can be visible by the enthusiasm in his voice when ever he hears or speaks about sports.

We wish Suraj all the best, and Thank you for sharing your story!!

txt
rich_1562854637908
