I'm nobody to Explain the change in the Environment and the force it can enforce but someone who can try to understand the change involved in nature can diminish us. That's why I correlate climate change with the Human lifestyle and How climate change is the indicator of development.

Climate Change prevails due to human delinquency. Climate change is real. It's happening now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species. and we need to work collectively together.

Each one of us knows what is the definition of climate change:

Climate change is the global phenomenon of climate transformation characterized by the changes in the usual climate of the planet (regarding temperature, precipitation, and wind) that are especially caused by human activities.

In the 1700s as Great Britain was ramping up it’s ‘manufacturing, realized it was sitting on a seemingly endless supply of cheap energy that burned better than trees: coal.

Coal is a game-changer, kicking off a new age called the industrial revolution: The transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing, and iron production processes, the increasing use of steam power and water power, the development of machine tools, and the rise of the mechanized factory system. Results for Immense increase in harmful gases in the Atmosphere.

Of course, countries shifted the representation of developing to developed=[country].
In order to increase the economy rate they just balanced Nature biosphere with Budget.

Do you think it the measure of accuracy?

I agree with the industrialization Movement.which directed a number of changes in the economy, employment, and likelihood but the resources used in the development process are not acceptable.

If we look at statistics: China is by far the world's largest emitter with 10 billion tons of co2 every year. Or 27% of global emissions.
15% with the USA and 10% with the European Union. (only China+USA+European union= 50% of global emission).Indian at 7% and Russia at 5% and Japan at 3%

But China is also the largest country in the world. If we consider the carbon footprint per person in the emission of co2 is considerably less than the United States.

Now the number of industries, power factories, and scalable machinery set up in the developed countries is significantly helping them to maintain the luxury lives and Economy.

But what about the developing countries do they demand luxury lives or a sustained economy? How is climate change-related?
Is it an indicator of development?

Let me explain, Climate is changing because of greenhouse gases piling up in the atmosphere. Coal, crude oil, and natural gas, the more we use fossil fuels the more greenhouse gases we pour into the sky.

Consuming a lot and emitting most of the greenhouse gases developed countries they've bring coal and gas on a massive scale. and they still use the most energy per capita. The thing is developing countries don't want to put their economies on pause while they invest in low emissions energy sources that may cost more.

The impact of climate change is more harshly felt in many developing countries because they're more vulnerable moreover they tend to be in the regions where droughts and floods are already prevalent and will be made worse, by climate change.
Because they are the least prepared. Water change, the temperature change can seriously affect agricultural and food security courses, this will further affect the likelihood and health.

If the climate crisis is going terrible changes then the country no longer can cope up. If you're not focusing on the dimensions of climate change. You can't estimate the punch it can give us.

If we talk about India. India has considered an Agriculture country.70% of the population relies on farming. Temperature is the indicator of Farming. If climate alteration is in reverse order then India will no longer be considered as an agricultural country.

The Developed/Developing countries' contributions to the emission of gases also matter what they eat?

It turns out, what we put on our plates matters a lot. About 25 percent of all the global climate change problem we're seeing can be attributed back to the food and the choices that we're making about what we eat on daily

This is greater than all the cars on the planet(X2).

“Branding” is one among those buzzwords that are used so often, its meaning has become diluted. People like to mention branding because it’s a moving target and incredibly hard to try to well. Great branding reflects the company’s values, product or service, vibe, and attitude. Landing thereon perfect projection of your business is difficult to realize.

If companies were superheroes, branding would be their names and iconic logos. Each symbolizes its hero and tells a story even before you learn the whole origin tale. A hero's name -- Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Captain America -- is the first thing you learn. These call signs epitomize heroic identities, clueing you in on what the crusaders do and how they do it. Each symbol is immediately recognizable. Paired with the superhero's name, it conveys much about the character’s tone, background, and style.

We all have heard about climate change, global warming, save the earth etc since we started going to school. But despite learning from textbooks and scoring marks, have we ever tried to know the importance of climate change?

So, what is climate crisis?

Climate crisis, in simple words means, the climate change that occurs due to global warming.

Many scientists and climatologist have made assumptions of how drastic the climate changes would be due to human exploitation of nature.

We must understand that an environmental balance which when once exploited, would lead to drastic changes in the climate, leading to climate crisis.

We might shake our head in negligence of the fact that, climate will never be affected by the exploitation of the environment resources like cutting down forests, building large industries, or mining.

But the truth is, it does affect!

Impact of climate change due to variations in temperature

The rise of temperature has a huge impact on the climate and some of the challenges we face are:

1) Harmful gases

One of the main reasons which affects the climate is due to smoke, and emissions coming from automobiles, factories, industries etc. These high amount of gases and emissions are of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide which makes the air impure and difficult to breathe.

The most recent case was the smog in Delhi. Considering overpopulation and lack of political priority, the reasons for this to happen was, dust from construction sites, burning garbage, industrial activities etc. People were finding very difficult to breathe for many days.

Can we ever live in a world without oxygen?

No, definitely not.

It is shocking on how much forests we have destroyed. Trees and plants are one of the sources of clean air and reasons for keeping earth cool Destroying them, not only ruins the habitat, but also causes a temperature rise.

2)Droughts

Droughts are one of the severe climate changes we experience due to excessive shortage of water. The reason for this phenomena to occur is due to the rise of temperature. High temperatures lead to more precipitations which lead to even faster evaporation, hence causing drought.

Over the years, droughts are experienced all over the world more and more frequently.

3)Wild fires occurring constantly

Temperature, again plays a very important role in wild fires which are constantly occurring nowadays.

The recent wild forest fires of Siberia in July 2019 is one of the examples of the drastic changes in the climate. This month was marked as the hottest spring ever recorded. Scientists claim the reasons for this, is the rise in temperature. On may 2020, Siberia experienced forest fires greater than that of the previous year which prolonged for 5 weeks and their occurrences are becoming more frequent.

Scientists have stated that this was the first time, the temperature of this country has rose from 31 to 38 degree Celsius, which has never been experienced before.

4)Shifting rainfall patterns

Over many years there has been a vast change in the pattern of rainfall all over the world. On average, some parts of the world is already getting more precipitation now than it did 100 years ago whereas some countries, the amount of rainfall has become very less.

Recently, Karnataka has been experiencing severe droughts due to abundance of rainfall. Karnataka, the southern part of India, one of the most fertile lands is suffering from this crisis. This definitely marks a change in the climate pattern.

5)Glacier and snow melting

We know that the rise in temperatures, causes the glaciers to melt. This leads to an increase in sea level.

Recent reports state that, by 2050, the sea levels will rise 30 cms and 69 cms by 2100.

6)Global warming

We know that global warming is caused due to the effect of green house gases. Greenhouse gases are gases which redirect the absorbed gases to the earth's surface.

Well, the rise in temperature is the main reason for this occurrence. The above mentioned factors are some o the changes taking place. We humans, also play a large part in this process due to the extensive exploitation of natures resources.

So folks, how are we facing these problems today?

Has any of the patterns changed?

The present situation…..

Climate and the pandemic

We are in the midst of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that has conquered all over the world. As this deadly virus has been spreading through contact, many of the countries had to initiate complete lock down in order to avoid the community spread.

It has been evident to say that, due to the lock down, the roads are literally empty, there are no working factories or any kind of exploitation of resources. Since the pollutions have reduced over the past few months, the air in cities has become cleaner than ever.

Recently, a large flock of flamingos visited in the lakes of Mumbai. This has not only happened in India but all over the world. Animals of all kind are seen roaming around due to the absence of human activities and exploitation.

From this we can say that, we all are the reason for these changes and looking over the past few months, the amount of pollution has reduced intensely.

How are these changes affecting us?

Climate changes affects everything. It affects our health, our environment, food etc.

For example, recent reports states that, there is a huge declining of rice in India due to the extreme climate changes. Especially, since the rainfall patterns have changed widely.

Concerning about our health, the pollution from automobiles and factories has caused many lung problems like bronchitis, asthma etc also these defects are further carried on to the next generation.

How can we bring a change in the climate?

Since we are one of the contributors of the climate change, we definitely can make it a better one too.

Every decision doesn't always have to be started by the government. A small change in the world can be made by each individual. Some of the measures can be done from hoe itself like:

• Setting up a small garden in your own balcony, backyard or terrace. Your essential vegetables can be grown from your home itself.

• Storing rainwater for household purposes

• Using solar energy to power up our households

• Using bicycles instead of any automobiles.

• Using CFL than CFC bulbs.

These are just some of the examples of what we can do at home.
In fact since technology has evolving, we have found so many efficient ways that reduce pollution. Like the car which only runs on water was invented by Japanese technology. Although it has some effects which cannot be used in the long run.

I am confident that, by technology, we will definitely find an efficient solution for the changes happening around.

So readers, One day, technology might be able to handle the problems. But it is also our responsibility to take care of our planet or else we will repent by the forces of nature.

Peace.✌✌

Recently the Movement for Black lives was very trending and we all have seen people posting about it on various social media platforms, raising their voice in support of them. Well, it has been a nice act to support and take stand for black community people but why do restrict our voices just for them or Do only black lives Matter? instead, I would say ALL LIVES MATTER – not only yours or mine but of everyone present out there. it’s really important to understand by each of us that this life is a gift to all of us and we must ensure that we live every bit of it completely. When I talk about that every life matters, I count on every one of us on this planet irrespective of our caste, color, religion, sex, and age. We all have heard and have an idea about racism. It’s that ideal situation where discrimination takes place based on certain factors like caste, especially the color of an individual, their religion, or from the community group they belong to. We have also seen sexual discrimination and many of us are been victimized being a woman at workplaces and offices by sexual discrimination, where we have been made felt that we are less capable and don’t deserve to look for growth opportunities in the carrier we pursue. We also know that how society behaves with transgender, many of us not also make an effort to think about the pain those people go through by our severe discrimination, Stigma, and Systematic Inequality. The LGBTQ community still faces considerable stigma based on over a century of being characterized as mentally ill, socially deviant, and sexually predatory. Well, these are the major issues of discrimination we have talked about but what about the discrimination we face in our daily lives at school, colleges, and even in the family. We all have somewhere seen and maybe felt that how people take birth of a boy differently from a birth of a girl, we have also seen if not “in reality “but in tv shows that how a boy is treated differently and nicely than a girl at home. So why there are so much difference and discrimination is present?I think it’s all because it’s been a trend to discriminate for ages, and that’s why I guess Dr. B.R. Ambedkar inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables, to bring unity and equality among people in the country. He was successful in getting right for untouchable but yet fails to eradicate this system of racism from its roots. Therefore, if we all understand that ALL LIVES MATTER, there would be no need for a movement or any action to be taken against this whereas only understanding the fact and letting others live their life freely would serve the purpose and then one day there would be no place for racism and inequality in the world and we would see all lives living happily and freely.
"}]
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector has emerged as a highly
vibrant and dynamic sector of the Indian economy over the last five decades.
Msme not only play crucial role in providing large employment Opportunities at
comparatively lower capital cost than large industries but also help in
industrialization of rural and Backward areas, thereby, reducing regional imbalances,
assuring more equitable distribution of national income and Wealth. Msme are
complementary to large industries as ancillary units and this sector contributes
enormously to the Socio economic development of the country. In India, the
enterprises have been classified broadly into two categories, firstly Manufacturing and secondly Those engaged in providing or rendering of services.
Both categories of enterprises have been further classified into micro, small and
medium enterprises based on their Investment in plant and machinery for
manufacturing enterprises or on equipments in case of enterprises providing or
Rendering services. Earlier, the Msme were defined on the basis of investments put in, now the
revised definitions will also include turnover of the company. Finance minster
nirmala Sitharaman also declared that there will be no more distinction between
Manufacturing and Service Msme. Earlier, the criteria for manufacturing units
and service units were different. Now those distinctions between Manufacturing and
Service Msme are being removed. They will all be defined similarly. The definition being changed is
done in the favour of Msme. There has always been this fear, among successful
Msme also, that if they outgrow the size of what has been defined as an Msme,
they will lose their entitled benefits. This is why Msme like to remain within the
definition rather than grow. With the revised definitions of Msme, they will not
have to worry about growing their size and can still avail benefits. Three key parameters that are vital for the success of Msme include financial
stability, availability of skilled labour in Msme clusters, and market
competitiveness of their products to achieve import substitution as well as exports. While government measures such as collateral free loans have paved a path for
ensuring the financial stability of Msme, immediate relief either from the public
sector or the private sector will also be needed to ensure the survival of such
enterprises. This is a big challenge in terms of availability of skilled labour to the
Msme in and around these urban centres. Ensuring the availability of skilled
labour by either skilling local workforce or making the conditions lucrative for the
migrant labour to come back is essential for the growth of Msme.
Carefully planned interventions with a robust implementation plan can ensure the
revival and strengthening of the sector, and will also in the process restart the
economic engine in a big way,With a self reliant India vision, it is highly important to improve the
competitiveness of Msme through an inclusive market oriented strategy. There
are five key areas that need stronger focus. There is a need to improve the capability
of Indian Msme to supply quality products, especially with new norms of
operations being introduced due to Covid. Maintaining social distancing, running
on reduced capacity, would further aggravate the situation for the cash starved
Msme. To remain relevant in the market, Msme need to be adaptable with
changing market and variable demand scenario. Ensuring the capacity and
availability of raw materials to Msme is also crucial. The disruption in global
logistics has broken the chain for some key raw materials. Low working capital
availability also makes it difficult for Msme to restore raw material supply. The
impact of Covid on business operations will require innovative methods to reduce
cost. Automation is essential in some areas for implementing distancing and also for
quality control. Msme could be introduced to low cost automation techniques,
which work in tandem with the human workforce. Finally, branding and advocacy
will also be needed to leverage the positive connotations associated with certain
Indian products and assess negative connotations that can be removed. This crisis is
a turning point for the Msme and they will either flourish or perish based on the
support provided and the actions taken by the companies themselves.

txt
Climate change is real and the evidence is all around us. While the changes to the earth’s climate are nothing new, it is apparent recent effects are having a devastating impact on countless people, places, and wildlife. If you want to know what climate change really is and why it matters, then keep reading to learn more about its causes, effects, and solutions to stop it.

Starting from what is Climate change?

Climate change happens when the earth’s climate system adjusts and displays new weather patterns that can last for as little as a few decades or up to millions of years. The climate is constantly changing, and unfortunately, this is a common argument made by people who don’t believe that climate change is something to worry about.

Climate change has occurred for as long as the earth has existed. It happens anytime earth’s climate patterns change and remain in place for a measurable amount of time. This has notably manifested itself in natural cycles of cooling and warming. Before human causes started to shift the global climate, five main factors interacted with one another as climate changes occurred.

Now that boils down to the CAUSES:

Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. Long-lived gases that remain semi-permanently in the atmosphere and do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are described as "forcing" climate change. Gases, such as water vapor, which respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature, are seen as "feedbacks."

• Water vapor. The most abundant greenhouse gas, but importantly, it acts as a feedback to the climate. Water vapor increases as the Earth's atmosphere warms, but so does the possibility of clouds and precipitation, making these some of the most important feedback mechanisms to the greenhouse effect.

• Methane. A hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic livestock. On a molecule-for-molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere.

• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Synthetic compounds entirely of industrial origin used in a number of applications, but now largely regulated in production and release to the atmosphere by international agreement for their ability to contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer. They are also greenhouse gases.

• Nitrous oxide. A powerful greenhouse gas produced by soil cultivation practices, especially the use of commercial and organic fertilizers, fossil fuel combustion, nitric acid production, and biomass burning

• Carbon dioxide (CO2). A minor but very important component of the atmosphere, carbon dioxide is released through natural processes such as respiration and volcano eruptions and through human activities such as deforestation, land-use changes, and burning fossil fuels. Humans have increased atmospheric CO2 concentration by more than a third since the Industrial Revolution began. This is the most important long-lived "forcing" of climate change.

Now lets the harsh CONSEQUENCES:

• On average, Earth will become warmer. Some regions may welcome warmer temperatures, but others may not.

• Warmer conditions will probably lead to more evaporation and precipitation overall, but individual regions will vary, some becoming wetter and other dryers.

• A stronger greenhouse effect will warm the oceans and partially melt glaciers and other ice, increasing sea level. Ocean water also will expand if it warms, contributing further to sea-level rise.

• Meanwhile, some crops and other plants may respond favorably to increased atmospheric CO2, growing more vigorously and using water more efficiently. At the same time, higher temperatures and shifting climate patterns may change the areas where crops grow best and affect the makeup of the natural plant communities.

These were quite harsh so let’s have look at the SOLUTIONS:
While the effects of climate change can seem bleak, there is still hope. By taking immediate action to curb climate change, we may never see the worst consequences. Likewise, as the world adopts cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions, there may be millions of new jobs created and billions of dollars of economic benefits. Below are some practical ways you can battle climate change, including:

• Purchase Renewable Energy Certificate for your home power needs

• Make your home energy efficient

• Buy carbon offsets

• Adopt a plant-based diet

• Reduce food waste

• Recycle

• Stop using fossil fuels

• Stop deforestation

The Role of Human Activity

In its Fifth Assessment Report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of 1,300 independent scientific experts from countries all over the world under the auspices of the United Nations, concluded there's a more than 95 percent probability that human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet.
The industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per million to 412 parts per million in the last 150 years. The panel also concluded there's a better than 95 percent probability that human-produced greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide have caused much of the observed increase in Earth's temperatures over the past 50 years.

This is our Mother Earth we got to save it, we have been destroyed it enough, let us save for our future generation, Do this for wildlife. Let’s not make the Earth is the history but reality. Let us join hands together and save it little every day. Baby steps like use cloth bags instead of plastic. Let’s turn off the water while shaving/brushing. Replacing the incandescent light bulbs in your home with energy-efficient LED bulbs and also, by turning off lights and small appliances when you're not using them. Before we throw away excess food, look into food banks and charities where we can bring items we know we are not going to consume before they go bad, and give them to people in need. Most importantly Buy recycled products and then recycle them again.

The role social media plays in mental health:
Human beings are social creatures. We need the com‐ companionship of others to thrive in life, and the strength of our connections has a huge impact on our mental health and happiness. Being socially connected to others can ease stress, anxiety, and depression, boost self-worth, provide comfort and joy, prevent loneliness, and even add years to your life. On the flip side, lacking strong social connections can pose a serious risk to your mental and emotional health.
In today’s world, many of us rely on social media plat‐ forms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, and Instagram to find and connect with each other. While each has its benefits, it’s important to remember that social media can never be a replacement for real-world human connection. It requires in-person contact with others to trigger the hormones that alleviate stress and make you feel happier, healthier, and more positive. Ironically for a technology that’s designed to bring people closer together, spending too much time engaging with social media can actually make you feel more lonely and isolated—and exacerbate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
If you’re spending an excessive amount of time on social media and feelings of sadness, dissatisfaction,
frustration or loneliness are impacting your life, it may be time to re-examine your online habits and find a healthier balance.
The positive aspects of social media
While virtual interaction on social media doesn’t have the same psychological benefits as face-to-face contact, there are still many positive ways in which it can help you stay connected and support your wellbeing.
Social media enables you to:
Communicate and stay up to date with family and friends around the world.
Find new friends and communities; network with other people who share similar interests or ambitions.
Join or promote worthwhile causes; raise awareness on important issues.
Seek or offer emotional support during tough times.
Find a vital social connection if you live in a remote area, for example, or have limited independence, social anxiety, or are part of a marginalized group.
Find an outlet for your creativity and self-expression.
Discover (with care) sources of valuable information and learning.
The negative aspects of social media
Since it’s a relatively new technology, there’s little research to establish the long-term consequences, good or bad, of social media use. However, multiple studies have found a strong link between heavy social media and an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicidal thoughts.
Social media may promote negative experiences such as:
Inadequacy about your life or appearance. Even if you know that images you’re viewing on social media are manipulated, they can still make you feel insecure about how you look or what’s going on in your own life. Similarly, we’re all aware that other people tend to share just the highlights of their lives, rarely the low points that everyone experiences. But that doesn’t lessen those feelings of envy and dissatisfaction when you’re scrolling through a friend’s airbrushed photos of their tropical beach holiday or reading about their exciting new promotion at work.
Fear of missing out (FOMO). While FOMO has been around far longer than social media, sites such as Facebook and Instagram seem to exacerbate feelings that others are having more fun or living better lives than you are. The idea that you’re missing out on certain things can impact your self-esteem, trigger anxiety, and fuel even greater social media use. FOMO can compel you to pick up your phone every few minutes to check for updates, or compulsively respond to each and every alert—even if that means taking risks while you’re driving, missing out on sleep at night, or prioritizing social media interaction over real-world relationships.
Isolation. A study at the University of Pennsylvania found that high usage of Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram increases rather decreases feelings of loneliness. Conversely, the study found that reducing social media usage can actually make you feel less lonely and isolated and improve your overall wellbeing.
Depression and anxiety. Human beings need face-to-face contact to be mentally healthy. Nothing reduces stress and boosts your mood faster or more effectively than eye-to-eye contact with someone who cares about you. The more you prioritize social media interaction over in-person relationships, the more you’re at risk for developing or exacerbating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.
Signs that social media is impacting your mental health
Everyone is different and there is no specific amount of time spent on social media, or the frequency you check for updates or the number of posts you make that indicates your use is becoming unhealthy. Rather, it has to do with the impact time spent on social media has on your mood and other aspects of your life, along with your motivations for using it.
For example, your social media use may be problematic if it causes you to neglect face-to-face relationships, distracts you from work or school, or leaves you feeling envious, angry, or depressed. Similarly, if you’re motivated to use social media just because you’re bored or lonely, or want to post something to make others jealous or upset, it may be time to reassess your social media habits.
Indicators that social media may be adversely affecting your mental health include:
Spending more time on social media than with real-world friends. Using social media has become a substitute for a lot of your offline social interaction. Even if you’re out with friends, you still feel the need to constantly check social media, often driven by feelings that others may be having more fun than you.
Comparing yourself unfavorably with others on social media. You have low self-esteem or negative body image. You may even have patterns of disordered eating.
Experiencing cyberbullying. Or you worry that you have no control over the things people post about you.
Being distracted at school or work. You feel pressure to post regular content about yourself, get comments or likes on your posts, or respond quickly and enthusiastically to friends’ posts.
Having no time for self-reflection. Every spare moment is filled by engaging with social media, leaving you little or no time for reflecting on who you are, what you think, or why you act the way that you do—the things that allow you to grow as a person.
Engaging in risky behavior in order to gain likes, shares, or positive reactions on social media. You play dangerous pranks, post embarrassing material, cyberbully others, or access your phone while driving or in other unsafe situations.
Suffering from sleep problems. Do you check social media last thing at night, first thing in the morning, or even when you wake up in the night? The light from phones and other devices can disrupt your sleep, which in turn can have a serious impact on your mental health.
Worsening symptoms of anxiety or depression. Rather than helping to alleviate negative feelings and boost your mood, you feel more anxious, depressed, or lonely after using social media.

Yours in a Democratic view....!! -Shiri
"}]
As mahatma Gandhi said "POVERTY IS THE WORST FORM OF VIOLENCE",every year 3.1 million indian children die before age of 5 mostly from diseases of poverty like diarrhea.

INTRODUCTION: India being the second most populous country after China with almost 1.2 billion People has enjoyed growth rates of upto 10% over many years and is one of the largest economies in the world, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 1,644 billion US dollars. But only small percentage of Indian population has benefited from the impressive economic boom so far,as majority of people in India are still having in abject poverty.

And yes,we take the difference between IMF's April 2020 forecasts for GDP growth and their forecast from October 2019 as "The covid effect", a slight simplified version because other things have also changed in world that may have caused the IMF to alter it's forecasts. However, the largest change is clearly caused by covid-19 and the policy response around the world.

Causes: Even under-estimates of poverty as made by NSS 1999-2000 show that 260 million persons or 26 per cent of population live below the poverty line, that is, do not have sufficient consumption expenditure to meet minimum food intake in terms of calories. 70 per cent of the poor live in the rural areas. What are the causes of this mass poverty? We explain below some important causes of poverty in India.

✓increase rate of population
✓less utilisation of resources
✓a short rate of economic development
✓increasing price rise
✓unemployment
✓shortage of capital and able entrepreneurship
✓social factors and political factors
✓unequal distribution of income

Many economists have pointed out that in the year of good agricultural output, poverty ratio declines. Good performance in agriculture leads to more employment opportunities and fall in prices of food grains. More employment opportunities and lower food price cause poverty ratio to decline. The experience of Punjab and Haryana shows that with agricultural growth through use of new high yielding technology (popularly called green revolution), poverty ratio can be significantly reduced.

However, in various states of the country such as Orissa, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, East Uttar Pradesh, where poverty ratio is still very high new high-yielding technology has not been adopted on a significant scale and as a result agricultural performance has not been good. As a result, poverty prevails to a larger extent in them.

As a result, irrigation facilities whose availability ensures adoption of new high-yielding technology and leads to higher productivity, income and employment, are available in not more than 33 per cent of cultivable land. As a result, many parts of the country remain semi-arid and rain-fed areas where agricultural productivity, income and employment cannot be sufficient to ensure significant reduction in poverty.

EFFECTS OF POVERTY:

The resounding effect of poverty echoes through various layers of an India citizen’s life. If we try to have a systematic look at them, we should proceed under the three following heads:-

1. Effect on Health – one of the most devastating effects that poverty has is on the overall health of the nation. The most prominent health issue stemming from poverty is malnutrition. The problem of malnutrition is widespread in all age-groups of the country but children are most adversely affected by this. Limited income in larger families leads to lack of access to sufficient nutritious food for their children. These children over time suffer from severe health problems like low body weight, mental, physical disabilities and a general poor state of immunity making them susceptible to diseases. Children from poor backgrounds are twice as susceptible to suffer from anemia, nutrient deficiencies, impaired vision, and even cardiac problems. Malnutrition is a gross contributor of infant mortality in the country and 38 out of every 1,000 babies born in India die before their first birthday. Malnutrition among adult also leads to poor health in adults that leaches their capacity for manual labour leading to a decrease in income due to weakness and diseases. Poverty also causes definite decline in the sanitary practices among poor who cannot afford proper bathrooms and disinfectants. As a result susceptibility to waterborne diseases peak among the poor. Lack of access to as well as means to procure appropriate treatment also affects overall mortality of the population which is lower in poor countries than developed nations like the USA.

2. Effects on Society – poverty exerts some gravely concerning effects over the overall societal health as well. These may be discussed along the following lines:-

a. Violence and crime rate – incidence of violence and crime have been found to be geographically coincident. In a backdrop of unemployment and marginalization, the poor resort to criminal activities to earn money. Coupled with lack of education and properly formed moral conscience, a poverty ridden society is more susceptible to violence by its people against its own people from a sense of deep-seated discontent and rage.

b. Homelessness – apart from a definite drop in the esthetic representation of the country, homelessness affects child health, women safety and overall increase in criminal tendencies.

c. Stress – lack of money is a major cause of stress among the middle-class and the poor and leads to decline in productivity of individuals.

d. Child labour – one of the hallmarks of a poverty-ridden society is the widespread practices of exploitation and the worst of it comes in the form of child labour. Large families fail to meet the monetary needs of the members and children as young as 5 years are made to start earning in order to contribute to the family income.

e. Terrorism – proclivity of youth towards terrorism stems from a combination of extreme poverty and lack of education making them susceptible to brainwashing. Terrorist organizations offer poverty-ridden families money in exchange for a member’s participation in their activities which induces a sense of accomplishment among the youth.

3. Effect on Economy –poverty is a direct index indicating success of the economy of the country. The number of people living under the poverty threshold indicates whether the economy is powerful enough to generate adequate jobs and amenities for its people. Schemes providing subsidies for the poor of the country again impose a drain on the economy.

SOLUTIONS:
✓ Population Control:

Population in India has been increasing rapidly. Growth rate of population is 1.8%. For removal of poverty the growth rate of population should be lowered.

✓ Increase in Employment:Special measures should be taken to solve the problems of unemployment and disguised unemployment. Agriculture should be developed. Small scale and cottage industries should be developed in rural areas to generate employment.

✓Equal distribution of Income:

Mere increase in production and control on population growth will not remove poverty in India. It is necessary that inequality in the distribution of income should be reduced.

✓Regional poverty:In States like Orissa, Nagaland, U.P and Bihar etc. the percentage of the poor to the total population is high. Govt. should give special concession for investment in these regions. More PSU’s should be established in these states.

✓Increase in the productivity of the Poor:

To remove poverty, it is necessary to increase productivity of the poor. The poor should be given more employment. More investment should be made in pubic and private sectors to generate employment.

✓Development of Agriculture:

The agriculture should be developed to remove poverty. Rapid rate of growth of agriculture production will help to remove urban as well as rural poverty. Agriculture should be mechanized and modernized. Marginal farmers should be given financial assistance.

✓Increase in the rate of growth:

Slow rate of growth is the main cause of poverty. So growth rate must be accelerated. In 2003-04 the growth rate has been 6.5% despite that 26% of population remains below poverty line.

And the end, measurement of poverty is really very tricky,as different places have different understandings of poverty at different times.

For example,a poor person in USA could be one who doesnt own a car.But in india, having a car is a luxury only some can dream of us.Thus, measuring several aspects of one's nutrition and income determines poverty in india.

Lastly,"EDUCATION IS A BATTLE AGAINST POVERTY THAT EVERYONE SHOULD FIGHT FOR AND POVERTY IS NOT MADE BY GOD,IT IS CREATED BY YOU AND ME WHEN WE DONT SHARE WHAT WE HAVE."

txt
