As we all know, Teachers Day is being celebrated today throughout the nation. Let me take this opportunity to respect and thank my teachers for life.
Geetha Shamsunder, a dynamic woman at the age of sixty is a mentor you’ll never want to miss in life. She’s the epitome of kindness who’s love for literature is visible through her teaching. I used to attend my seniors classes just for her! Her stories and life experiences always had a hidden message for me to decode. She's been a sweetheart in encouraging me throughout. Her classes are beyond the textbooks. She's a trusted source of advice for anyone. When my grades in English were not so great, she helped and guided me , put me back in place and in turn, made me fall in love with the subject. She made me realize that there is a writer in everyone and all they need is a little push.
Lately during my college days,I realize my seniors have played a vital role in wanting me to be a better person. I was given a zillion opportunities to discover myself by my seniors. I spend more time with my seniors; it's all about different perspectives and experimenting new things. I wouldn't have sailed through my three years of engineering if not for them!
“Everyone you meet has something to teach you” -and as soon as I accept that, I open myself to truly listening. There’s a diversity of people in the world and as we move through life we encounter this variation. They are capable of leaving a positive or negative impact on our lives during the moments which we’ve spent with them. However, these persons are teachers of valuable life lessons. In the past few years until the present I was able to gain some of these cherished actualities with respect to “people”.
Life is all about learning something new every time and for me, this process happens by analyzing and adapting the best qualities of people around me. My friends, family, acquaintances are my teachers. In fact a small talk with a stranger is also learning.
To all the teachers out there, thank you!
